Starting From A Son In Law To Build An Long Lasting Family

Chapter 16: The Spiritual Root of the Child!

With a thought, Lu Changsheng took out the golden brick talisman from the system space.

Immediately, a golden brick talisman appeared in his hand out of nowhere.

This talisman felt much smoother and thicker than the ones he usually drew.

The pattern of the golden brick on it emitted a sparkling golden light, vivid and lifelike.

With the knowledge of a second-level talisman master, Lu Changsheng could tell at a glance that the material of this talisman was made from the fur of high-level demonic beasts.

Most of the ordinary talisman papers he used were made of low-grade spirit materials.

For example, the green spirit bamboo that covered Qingzhu Mountain was a type of low-grade spirit material.

As for the higher-quality talisman papers, they required advanced spiritual materials or demonic beast skins to produce.

The materials for drawing second-level talismans were the same.

The raw materials needed to make talisman paper and ink were first- or second-tier spiritual materials.
This was one of the reasons why it became increasingly difficult for talisman masters as they advanced.

Not only was it difficult to advance, but the cost of materials was also high.

To improve their skills, they had to constantly pour money into this bottomless pit.

“With this talisman, I also have an ace up my sleeve. In the future, when I face cultivators below the foundation stage, I’ll have a life-saving power,” Lu Changsheng carefully put the talisman away.

Even if it could only unleash partial power during the Qi Refining stage, it was enough for him at the moment.

Just like the power of two or three Nascent Soul realm magical treasures was enough to crush cultivators at the Foundation stage.

When he used a talisman at the Qi Refining stage, even if it only released partial power, it was still enough to crush cultivators at the Qi Refining stage.

“Tomorrow, I will go and tell Uncle Fu that I can refine low-grade talismans of the first class,” Lu Changsheng looked at the darkening night outside the window.

It had been about a year and a half since he first went to the Treasure Pavilion to buy talisman-making materials.

In that year and a half, he had bought five to six hundred pieces of talisman paper and drawn about five hundred and six talismans.

He was also almost finished.

He had planned to reveal his talent as a qualified talisman master around this time.

Coincidentally, he had already mentioned it to his wives and concubines today when naming his son Lu Xianzhi, so there was no need to wait any longer.

Thinking of his son, Lu Xianzhi, Lu Changsheng suddenly thought of his own spiritual roots.

His spiritual roots felt a mysterious throbbing feeling at the moment his son was born.

But until now, he still felt nothing.

“I wonder what kind of spiritual root my son has.”

“With the addition of his talent, how much has my spiritual root changed?”

Lu Changsheng muttered to himself.

Spirit root refers to the potential to cultivate immortality.

It’s not like having an extra visible organ in your body.

According to the descriptions he had read in the books before, Spirit Root cultivators had different Tianmen acupoints and Dantian from ordinary people. РÁΝ𝙤ꞖƐș

So even though Lu Changsheng was a cultivator, he couldn’t really see what changes his Spiritual Root had undergone, or how significant the changes were.

He could only use special treasures to detect spiritual roots, or spells like the Spiritual Eye Technique.

But at present, Lu Changsheng did not have those prerequisites.

Therefore, he chose the simplest and most direct method.

To see how much the speed of absorbing the spiritual energy of Heaven and Earth had changed in his cultivation compared to before.

After all, the most direct and obvious manifestation of the improvement of the spiritual root is the sensitivity and absorption of spiritual energy.

The better the spiritual root, the better the fusion with the spiritual energy, the faster the cultivation speed, and the fewer the bottlenecks.

Several hours passed.

Lu Changsheng could confirm that his cultivation speed had indeed improved.

But the improvement was small.

Less than ten percent.

With this small improvement, Lu Changsheng came to a conclusion.

His son’s spiritual root wasn’t that great either.

Even if he had just been born and his spiritual root hadn’t formed yet, even if he could grow to be five or six years old, it probably wouldn’t be very high.

It wouldn’t be surprising if he was only at the eighth or ninth level of Spirit-root.

“The seventh child with spiritual roots is already lucky enough, how could the quality of those roots be any better?”

Lu Changsheng sighed softly, knowing that this was quite normal.

His wives were all ordinary people, and his own spiritual roots were only at the ninth level. The probability of his children having spiritual roots was about one or two percent.

For the seventh child to have spiritual roots was already considered very lucky.

As for how good these spiritual roots were – Middle Spirit Root, Upper Spirit Root – it was not necessary to think too much about it.

Except for a few cases, most children’s spiritual roots were similar to their parents’, and not much better.

Moreover, of those with spiritual roots, ninety-nine percent were Lower Spirit Roots.

Among this group of immortal seedlings from the Lu Family, all of them had Lower Spirit Roots, and none of them had Middle Spirit Roots.

“If you want to have more children with spiritual roots, it’s still best to have offspring with a woman who has spiritual roots.”

“If both parents have spiritual roots and are cultivators, the chances of their children having spiritual roots can be as high as ten or twenty percent.”

Lu Changsheng thought inwardly.

He thought that if he continued to have children with ordinary women, nine out of ten of his children would be ordinary people.

He had many utilitarian thoughts about marriage and childbirth.

But he didn’t want to continue this frenzied procreation.

Without spiritual roots, he would only have to watch his childrens as they grew old and faced sickness and death.

As for ensuring their joyful growth and happy lives, it was no problem now to have fewer children; he could treat them all well.

But what if he had too many children?

Lu Changsheng knew that he wouldn’t be able to treat them equally.

Just looking at history, emperors killing their own sons was proof enough.

If he had too many children, he would probably become indifferent to those without spiritual roots.

Moreover, marrying wives and taking concubines to have children would also require a great deal of time and effort on his part.

“Sigh, thinking about it is still a bit far away.”

“Children are meant to be born, and if conditions allow, it’s best to strive for the best in birth and upbringing.”

Lu Changsheng took a deep breath, shook his head and decided not to dwell on the matter.

He felt that he was overthinking and indecisive, allowing his emotions to cloud his judgement.

Cultivation itself was already defying the natural order, and if he became too involved in matters of the heart, it would be difficult to progress and could even lead to the birth of inner demons.

“I wonder if I can marry a girl from the Lu family who has spiritual roots after I become a talisman master.”

Seeing that it was already dawn, Lu Changsheng got up and prepared to discuss with Uncle Fu about his ability to draw first-tier, low-level talismans.

Suddenly, he thought about whether he could marry a girl with spiritual roots in the Lu family after becoming a first-tier talisman master.

In the past, that would have been absolutely impossible.

It would have been a foolish fantasy.

A mere son-in-law daring to aspire to a swan feast?

But now.

With his talent for making talismans, becoming a first-class talisman master was not impossible.

As long as he didn’t propose marriage to young Miss Lu Miaoge, a key figure in the Lu family, there should be hope.

“If I could marry several girls with spiritual roots, that would be best. The children born in the future would probably have spiritual roots.”

“It would be beneficial for me and the children.”

“But for now there’s no hurry. It’s not urgent.”

Lu Changsheng thought.

It would be good to marry a girl with spiritual roots.

But he was only at the second level of qi refinement, relying solely on his ability to make first-tier, low-grade talismans.

Even if he were to marry a woman with spiritual roots, it might cause discord in the household and disturb the current harmony.

Moreover, if he were to make such a request to the Lu family, it wouldn’t be as easy as marrying a concubine from a secular family; it would involve some expense.

So Lu Changsheng felt that this was something to be considered later, when conditions had improved.

Besides, with his second-level talisman-making skills, it wouldn’t be difficult to marry several ‘fairies’ with spiritual roots in the future.
