Madam’s Identities Shocks the Entire City Again

Chapter 3943: Chapter 3943: Still Want to Chat with Sister Nian? Keep Dreaming

Old Xue furrowed his brow and paced back and forth: ”We should immediately convene an internal meeting, take a vote to see...”

”Do you want everyone to know that our empress of the reclusive family has been taken hostage?” Quentin interrupted him instantly.

Old Xue’s expression stiffened, his eyes, despite being murky, had a shrewd look as he turned to him: ”Then what do you want to do?”

Quentin made no effort to conceal his thoughts, openly saying: ”Let’s do what was demanded in the video, pacify them first and then talk.”

”No way!” Old Xue responded immediately.

Luke also chimed in from the side: ”I think what the archbishop said makes sense; risking the empress’s safety is out of the question. The best approach is to comply with their demands first, and once the empress is safe, we can plan what to do next.”

Old Xue saw the Radical Faction’s Elder Leo also agreeing with the Church’s proposal, and could only fall silent, hoarsely speaking after a long pause: ”If we do this, then all the efforts we’ve laid out in the illegal zone for so long will be wasted.”

”Compared to the safety of the empress, these are secondary.” Quentin said nonchalantly.

Old Xue pulled a sardonic smile, yet refrained from exposing that those families under the Neutral Faction hadn’t been involved in the illegal zone’s operations.

They hadn’t committed financial resources, material aid, or effort; of course, it was easy for them to say ’let it go’.

But many families in the Conservatives had been involved, with years of effort put into it, now having to destroy their painstaking work for the empress.

Who could remain indifferent?

He understood very well what Quentin was planning.

Once the empress returns from the illegal zone, the Privy Council will initiate an impeachment, involving all family members of the reclusive family.

When the time comes, families of all ranks will cast their votes.

They, the Conservatives have supported the empress’s rule for many years, and even within the Radical Faction there are empress supporters; his proposed impeachment might not succeed.

But if... the empress’s years of scheme in the illegal zone get destroyed, harming these families’ interests, then whether they would still support the empress is uncertain.

The archbishop evidently doesn’t want to give the empress a chance to turn the tables upon returning!

”...As long as you’ve thought it through.” Despite knowing the other’s calculations, Old Xue couldn’t help but endure it, as the empress is indeed in the hands of outsiders.

Fully aware of the archbishop’s schemes, yet he had to stiflingly tolerate it, Old Xue said: ”This matter involves Qiao Nian, I want to communicate with her first. If she can make a concession for the empress, perhaps it doesn’t need to escalate to the level we’re discussing.”

”Hmm.” The archbishop lifted his gaze, signaling ’go ahead,’ choosing to be a spectator, his demeanor showing a dismissive attitude all around.

Old Xue’s face sank, he pursed his lips as he walked aside to make a call... He knew what the other expected, probably thinking that Qiao Nian would not agree to concessions.

But he felt that the relationship between the empress and Qiao Nian was already conspicuous. If he communicated the empress’s current plight well to Qiao Nian, given they are family, perhaps Qiao Nian wouldn’t let the empress die without lifting a finger.

In a short time, Old Xue had already composed a set of statements in his mind, ready to speak with the girl once the call connected.

Until a mechanical voice sounded from his phone: ”Sorry, the number you dialed is temporarily unavailable.”

Old Xue immediately frowned, taking the phone out and redialed, placing the phone back to his ear.

This time, he paid extraordinary attention, discovering there wasn’t any dialing tone from the other side but directly the mechanical announcement: ”Sorry, the number you dialed is temporarily unavailable.”
