Madam’s Identities Shocks the Entire City Again

Chapter 3821: Activating the Privy Council’s Impeachment Mechanism

The news that Nie Qingru was personally going to the illegal district indeed caused a strong backlash from the reclusive families.

Several families came to the Privy Council and asked for an explanation.

Nie Qingru resolutely left. She had not discussed it with the Privy Council, only informing them before leaving. Under such circumstances, the Privy Council could only try their best to appease the major families and could not give them a reasonable explanation.

“Bang!”

In the council hall of the Privy Council.

Quentin, wearing a red church robe, rushed in without caring about the obstruction.

“Archbishop.”

“Archbishop, you can’t enter.”

“Archbishop, Elder Xue and Elder Leo are discussing something inside. Please wait a moment.”

“Get lost!”

Quentin ignored the person trying to stop him and pushed the door open.

…

Inside.

Elder Xue had returned from Nie Qingru’s private residence.

Luke was there too.

In addition, a few key members of the conservative and radical factions were all there. Both sides seemed to be arguing about important matters.

The two factions argued until their faces turned red.

It was at this moment that Quentin suddenly entered, attracting everyone’s attention.

“The archbishop is here.” Luke suppressed his anger and tried to squeeze out a smile. He stood up and politely gave up his seat to the middle-aged man.

He was the youngest.

Even the radical faction that represented the Leonard family and controlled one of the three factions of the Privy Council had to be polite to the other two in a place like the Privy Council, where seniority was important.

Luke gave up his seat, and the archbishop did not stand on ceremony.

Quentin waved away the red-robed man and sat down, turning straight to Elder Xue. “What’s wrong with the Empress? Why did she suddenly go to the illegal district? What did you do in the illegal district?”

In the Privy Council, he was probably the only one who could speak to Elder Xue so directly.

Faced with his merciless questioning, the green-robed old man felt a little embarrassed. He barely controlled his expression. “It’s the Empress’s own decision to go to the illegal district. I tried to persuade her, but I couldn’t stop her.”

“Heh, you couldn’t stop her?”

Quentin did not show any mercy. “You didn’t stop her, and you want all of us to pay for her willful behavior?! I don’t know what you’re doing in the illegal district, but from the news I received, you’re also involved.”

Elder Xue’s sore spot was hit. He was in the wrong and could not argue.

Quentin was even more certain of his guess now. “You really got involved.”

Elder Xue looked up and met his eyes, then said in a deep voice, “Everything I did was for the reclusive families’ sake.”

“Yes, I don’t doubt this. You’ve worked hard for the reclusive families your entire life. I believe you won’t do anything to harm us.”

Elder Xue’s expression softened and was no longer as ugly.

Quentin continued, “But the truth is that the reclusive families have been in constant trouble since the new year. Our farce with Beijing hasn’t ended yet, and now it has shifted to the illegal district… Our neutral party has suffered so many losses. We can’t just rely on you saying ‘for the sake of the family’. Don’t you think so?”

Elder Xue massaged his swollen temples. He knew that this matter could not be resolved peacefully, so he spoke directly to the person.

“What do you want?”

“I want to activate the Privy Council’s impeachment mechanism against imperial power.”

Quentin calmly looked as everyone’s expression turned shocked. He had no intention of joking and was very determined.
