Madam’s Identities Shocks the Entire City Again

Chapter 3820: I’m Going to the Illegal District Personally

Just the bank alone had a pile of mess that needed dealing with. The Privy Council’s archbishop was still insisting on the matter of Beijing and wanted an explanation from the Empress.

The Empress had a lot of things that needed to be dealt with.

At this critical juncture, the Empress wanted to go to the illegal district. One could imagine how the Privy Council’s people would blow up.

This was because they had failed in their plan to hurt Beijing.

Many of the reclusive families’ members were already dissatisfied with the Empress’s decision. If this continued, the Empress would not be able to keep her position.

Without waiting for him to persuade her, Nie Qingru spoke. “I know what you want to say, but those people won’t help me save them if I don’t go.

“Only when I put myself in danger will they be willing to put pressure on the enemy for the reclusive families’ honor.”

“But this way, Empress, you…” Shadow really could not say it.

The Privy Council would definitely not let this matter rest after the Empress caused such a commotion. Those families already dissatisfied with the Empress would be even more against her.

Was the Empress going to put her position in jeopardy because of Young Master Di?

However, Nie Qingru did not waver. “I’ve made up my mind. Prepare the plane.”

Shadow always obeyed orders. “Yes.”

…

After the call, Nie Qingru told Elder Xue about her decision to personally go to the illegal district.

Although the green-robed old man cared about the Xue family’s decades of foundation in the illegal district, he still reacted strongly to Nie Qingru’s announcement. He objected without thinking.

“No way!”

“Your Majesty, you can’t go.”

He suppressed his depression and voiced his reason with a cold and solemn expression, “I know you’re worried about the situation in the illegal district, but your safety is the most important!”

“I’ve already made up my mind.” Nie Qingru waved her hand, signaling him to stop talking.

The veins on the green-robed old man’s forehead bulged. He wanted to insist, but he suppressed himself. Finally, he couldn’t help but ask, “Empress, are you making a trip for your power in the illegal district, or for… Di Xicheng?”

Things related to Nie Qingru back then had long become taboo.

It was just that Elder Xue had a high status and could talk about Di Xicheng.

His eyes burned as he fiercely said, “Back then, when you faced the choice between Ji Qing and the reclusive families, you sacrificed yourself without hesitation. I’ve always admired you for this! However, you’ve disappointed me too much on Di Xicheng’s matter.”

There were three big shots in the Privy Council.

The conservative faction controlled by Elder Xue was the only faction still clearly on her side. Logically speaking, Nie Qingru should have appeased him no matter what.

However, she knew very well that if she did not make a trip to the illegal district, Di Xicheng might very well die there.

Hence, seeing Elder Xue’s sincere attitude and intense words, her eyes flickered, but she did not answer him directly.

She only said, “The Xue family mobilized its forces in the illegal district because of me. Now that something like this has happened, I can’t just let it go.”

These were just empty words.

Nie Qingru smiled and patted him on the shoulder. “I’m not just doing it for Xicheng. I’m doing it for all of us. You have to understand me.”

Elder Xue felt the weight on his shoulder and pursed his lips without saying anything else. However, his eyes were filled with disappointment… Nie Qingru’s insistence on going to the illegal district would definitely cause a backlash from the Privy Council’s major families.

And this time, he would probably not stand up for her again.
