Madam’s Identities Shocks the Entire City Again

Chapter 436 - Too Smug!

Shen Yugui couldnʼt tolerate it any longer. He got up and slammed the table, then glared at Cheng Wu furiously as he raised his voice. ”Professor Cheng, Qiao Nian can choose not to enroll in our Chinese Medicine Faculty, but I donʼt agree with what youʼve said. Weʼre educators, we have to teach people before we teach knowledge!”

Cheng Wu wasnʼt bothered by his words, and instead calmly countered him with a question. ”Does the Chinese Medicine Faculty have the ability to nurture a good talent? You donʼt have what it takes to groom her, and yet youʼre encouraging her to join your faculty. How is this any different from ruining her? Iʼm just trying to salvage a talent, is this not teaching a person?”

Shen Yugui felt as if he had been slapped on the face. His expression was awful. If he was as hot-tempered as before, he would have started arguing with Cheng Wu, or even fighting with him. But now… he just clenched his fists while the veins in his forehead popped. He couldnʼt deny what Cheng Wu said.

The Chinese Medicine Faculty hadnʼt been doing very well over the years, and the budget they were receiving was limited too.

For clinical and research-based studies, the best departments would receive the best research projects, and a correspondingly large amount of budget to fund the studies.

Their Chinese Medicine Faculty hadnʼt gotten funding in years.

Their infrastructure and hardware were the worst in the school. As for the teachers, this generation of lecturers was not impressive, especially without Mr. Huang around to secure their place.

If a talent like Qiao Nian, who scored full marks for the examinations, ended in their hands, they really might ruin her career and future.

Shen Yugui was indignant, but when he turned to look at Qiao Nian again, the light in his eyes had gone out. Looking at the only talent who was willing to join their faculty, he said sadly, ”Qiao Nian, I donʼt agree with what Professor Cheng Wu said, but he isnʼt entirely wrong. Choosing your specialization is an important matter, you should… consider carefully!”

Nie Mi was watching the exchange from the side. They went from pitting against each other and not being willing to compromise to Shen Yugui taking a step back for the sake of the studentʼs future. He had sincerely asked Qiao Nian to think twice. That made Nie Mi feel a bit better than before.

He understood Qiao Nianʼs character. Once she had made a decision, it was very unlikely for her to change it.

He had gone to look for her when she first came to Beijing. He hoped that she would change her mind about her profession and got her to reconsider time and again. But no matter how he tried, he couldnʼt convince Qiao Nian to change her decision. He didnʼt believe that Cheng Wuʼs words would manage to sway her.

Moreover, his incentives might be attractive to others, but to Qiao Nian… Nie Mi looked at the people there and simply wanted to laugh.

Someone who was so close to Su Huaiyuan and who had Yuan Yongqin as a backing wouldnʼt care for such resources and networks.

He was just too smug!

If Qiao Nian really wanted the resources and networks in Beijing, he could have easily paved the way for her. Cheng Wu wouldnʼt even have a place in the equation.

Nie Mi already had his answer. He picked up his thermos flask, twisted the lid open, and took a sip of his drink. He then slowly put his flask down and looked past Cheng Wu and Shen Yugui to ask her, ”Have you considered carefully? If you have, just make it known so they wonʼt have to continue fighting over you.”

Qiao Nian wasnʼt intending to have anyone fight over her. It was just that Cheng Wu and Shen Yugui were going on about it non-stop, not giving her a chance to speak at all. Hence, she kept quiet and waited till they were done. Now that they were, she looked up and pushed her cap down slightly, standing casually and relaxedly.

”Iʼve said it very clearly. I choose the Chinese Medicine Faculty.”
