His Acting Was So Good As a Ruthless Criminal, Drawing the Attention of Police Officers Across the Internet

170: End of article: Lin Pei wins Golden Rooster Award for Best ActorBefore long, Lin Pei finally received his award.

Stephen Chow looked back and rolled his eyes, letting out a cold snort at Guo Jingming and the other actors who had spoken in an unfriendly tone earlier.

”See that, you little punks? My Big Brother won a Golden Rooster Awards.”

Those people felt a bit awkward and lowered their heads in silence.

Guo Jingming crossed his arms and muttered under his breath.

”He won, sure, but isn’t it just for Best Supporting Actor?”

”If he’s so capable, let’s see him win golden rooster best actor...”

Hearing this, those so-called top-tier actors stiffened their necks.

”Exactly. If he wins best actor, we’ll admit we were blind and couldn’t recognize greatness.”

Stephen Chow was so angry he almost threw a punch.

”What do you mean ’blind to greatness’? Do you even deserve such a phrase?”

”You’re just looking down on people like snobs—a bunch of mongrels!”

...After Lin Pei stepped down from the stage, Stephen Chow sidled up to Lin Pei’s seat and enviously touched the heavy trophy.

”Big Brother, you’re amazing!”

”By the way, Big Brother, did that palm strike of yours really work on that guy Wu? Why isn’t he numb anymore?”

Lin Pei raised an eyebrow and looked at Stephen Chow with a smile.

”That’s a normal reaction to being hit. Once his face stops being numb, his hands will feel even more numb later.”

Stephen Chow patted his chest.

”Then I’m relieved. As expected of Big Brother.”

...Before long, the most exciting moment arrived on stage, and Deng Chao almost jumped for joy.

”Ta-da! Friends in the audience, next, we will present the award for Best Leading Actor at this year’s Golden Rooster Awards.”

”Please welcome our presenters to the stage!”

In the audience, Lin Pei frowned.

What’s going on this year? Why was Best Supporting Actor awarded before Best Leading Actor? Has the schedule changed?

He had thought the Best Leading Actor award had already been given out.

Does that mean he still has a chance?

The audience began to get excited again.

”The Best Leading Actor and Actress awards are the finale this year. The reaction definitely seems better than before.”

”After Brother Lin’s slap just now, the Golden Rooster Awards’ popularity has been soaring. The buzz will probably last until the very end. There are so many people in the livestream that it’s lagged several times.”

”Nice. Let’s make some predictions for best actor.”

”What’s there to predict? The ’shaolin soccer’ comedy short had me both crying and laughing. Go for it, Brother Lin!”

”...”

At the venue, everyone had finished watching the short clips.

Compared to before, everyone was hearty laughing at the ’shaolin soccer’ clip, and they kept laughing until the other movie clips were finished.

It was a completely different role. Lin Pei played a comedic character this time, and both his performance and delivery were spot on.

A bit less would be too dull, a bit more would be too oily.

It was another one of those performances where a single clip makes you want to watch the entire movie.

Several former best actors finally managed to stop grinning, their mouths aching from laughter.

”Brother Lin’s acting is superb. Give him the best actor award!”

”Give it to him, I agree too!”

”This is better than my acting; I need to go back to school!”

Amidst the discussion, the presenters on stage prepared to reveal the winning actor.

”The winner of the best actor award at this year’s Golden Rooster Awards is... Lin Pei!”

As the words fell, thunderous applause erupted throughout the hall.

Lin Pei was once again hugged by everyone scrambling to congratulate him.

Stephen Chow was even more excited than Lin Pei. He personally escorted Lin Pei to the steps before running back to his seat.

”Big Brother, go for it!”

Lin Pei nodded to him and walked up the steps.

Beneath his calm exterior, his heart rate was probably pushing 180.

Lin Pei consciously quickened his pace.

golden rooster best actor—here he comes!

By the time Guo Jingming realized it, he found himself grinning widely and clapping so hard his hands hurt.

Looking around, those actors who had shared his resentment earlier were all in the same state.

Holy cow, in the span of just one short clip, they seemed to have been brainwashed by Lin Pei, actually thinking he deserved the award.

This is terrifying!

Having returned to his seat, Stephen Chow glanced at the back row.

”Conquered by my Big Brother’s acting, aren’t you, you little punks!”

Guo Jingming and the other actors looked at each other, wishing they could bury themselves on the spot... On stage, Lin Pei held the heavy trophy, his mind filled with a thousand thoughts.

Driven by his love for acting and the dream of becoming best actor, he had worked hard to hone his skills. He hadn’t expected his dream to come true so soon.

The host invited the winner to give an acceptance speech. Lin Pei took a deep breath and leaned into the microphone.

”I’m very grateful to the organizing committee for this award. Thank you to the audience for your love for the movie ’shaolin soccer’. Thank you for your encouragement and support. Thank you!”

”Receiving this honor after only two years in the industry is truly a great privilege. I will remain true to my original intentions and strive to give back to everyone with more great works!”

Thunderous applause filled the hall, and virtual fireworks filled the livestream.

”Brother Lin’s speech is so formal, but I like it.”

”Congratulations to our best actor, Brother Lin! Every project he’s been in has won an award! So impressive!”

”I thought Brother Lin would retire and go fishing once his dream came true, since he’s already financially free. Hearing him say he’ll stay true to his intentions, I’ve finally breathed a sigh of relief.”

”This is just our Dragon Country’s best actor award. In the future, Brother Lin will go on to conquer the Oscars abroad.”

”With high talent, a high starting point, and hard work, Brother Lin is a born actor. He’ll take the Oscars in no time!”

”Exactly. I can’t imagine how happy I’ll be as a little fan when that time comes.”

At this moment, the number of people in the livestream was unprecedented, and the video quality was lagging terribly.

In the rapidly flowing bullet comments, messages from a few accounts flashed by.

Hengcheng Police: ”Sigh, hasn’t Lin Pei realized his best actor dream? Is he still going to keep filming? Won’t he consider a career change, like becoming a Criminal Police Officer?”

I Am a Great Thief: ”Brother Lin, please retire. We’ll always welcome you to join us.”

Second-in-Command of Qingyun Gang: ”Brother Lin, the boss’s seat is gathering dust. Are you not coming this time either?”

Number One Organization is My Home: ”Great Leader, when are you coming home?”

”...”

Before long, several accounts were kicked out... Lin Pei held the trophy, standing amidst a brilliant starlight.

The light wasn’t blinding at all; it just felt magnificent.

The future can be even more magnificent!

(The End)

Author’s Note:

This story ends here.

This story didn’t really have a main plot; it was more like an episodic series.

From the beginning, the protagonist Lin Pei was aimed at becoming best actor. Ending it here should be fine, right?

Of course, according to the author’s original plan, Lin Pei was supposed to continue acting in various well-known TV series and movies, such as ’Grave Robbers’ Chronicles’, ’Day and Night’, ’Catch Me If You Can’, and so on, and win various major awards both at home and abroad.

That would be the protagonist’s further goals.

Maybe I’ll write about it in the future.

Anyway, thank you to all the readers for your support along the way. Thank you for your tips, reminders to update, and positive reviews.

The performance of this book can be described as bleak. It’s your support that kept the author writing until now.

Perhaps it didn’t become a qualified ’electronic mustard’ as the author hoped, so I’ll work harder on the next book.

Thanks again!
