His Acting Was So Good As a Ruthless Criminal, Drawing the Attention of Police Officers Across the Internet

164: Bathhouse is a blessed place; I’ve been nominated for so many awards! While Lin Pei was going viral again due to his exquisite acting in two films, the filming of God of Gamblers was still proceeding in an orderly fashion.

Under the influence of his traits such as ’Perfectionist Method Actor’ and ’Old Traditional Chinese Medicine Doctor’, The Director slowed down the pace of filming.

Focusing less on speed and more on details and quality.

Focusing on professionalism while also paying attention to physical health.

Thus, the plot that was originally scheduled to be finished in a month took a full four months to complete because the plot and presentation effects were slowly polished.

On the day filming wrapped, The Director hugged Lin Pei’s leg and cried like a child.

”Brother Lin, I worked so hard on this work. I feel like it definitely won’t be a bad film.”

Lin Pei nodded and pulled his leg out. To prevent The Director’s ’Praying Mantis Hands’ from accidentally injuring him, he might end up accidentally injuring The Director even more severely.

”It won’t be. I can already foresee it becoming a massive hit.”

Was he joking? As someone who had watched this film countless times in his previous life, how could he not know how classic and beloved it was?

The Director’s eyes were full of emotion.

”Brother Lin, I’ll take your word for it.”

...One day after God of Gamblers wrapped up, Stephen Chow, who had made a lot of money from his movie releases, generously pulled out his wallet and invited Lin Pei for a massage and health treatment, claiming it was a ’One-Stop Service’.

When Lau Tak Wah heard that the stingy Stephen Chow was being so generous, he shamelessly followed the two of them to spend money.

After arriving at the place, Lin Pei and Lau Tak Wah looked at each other, their eyes tacitly a bit numb.

They talked about massage, health care, and one-stop service; they thought it would be some high-end club, but what appeared before them was actually a Guandong-style Large Bathhouse.

Lau Tak Wah sighed.

”Star Lord, just this?”

”There’s a one-stop service inside?”

Stephen Chow stroked the back of his head quite dashingly.

”Of course.”

”Inside, there’s body scrubbing, massage, sauna, pedicures, and catering—all in one.”

”You can also do Gua Sha; it’s very good for your health. It’s quite comfortable after finishing everything!”

”And I heard this bathhouse is a blessed land. Good things happen after you wash up.”

...Who would believe that good things happen just by taking a bath?

Lau Tak Wah felt even more depressed.

Lin Pei didn’t mind; he thought it would be nice to have a scrub and relax.

He patted Lau Tak Wah’s shoulder.

”Alright, Wah Zai. Since we’re already here, why not go in and take a look?”

Over this period of time, Lau Tak Wah had already become a loyal little fan-brother of Lin Pei.

As soon as Lin Pei spoke, he immediately became less listless.

”Fine, then I’ll give Brother Lin some face and go in to take a look.”

Stephen Chow rolled his eyes at him.

”I say, old man, you’re really getting a bargain and still acting spoiled...”

”I’m treating you to a free bath, what more do you want?”

...The group walked in with their arms around each other’s shoulders.

A moment later, the corners of the mouths of the three who had experienced the one-stop service curled up visibly to the naked eye.

Lau Tak Wah lay on the chair and didn’t want to get down, feeling as if he were floating among the immortals.

”So comfortable. Brother Lin was right to tell me to come in.”

”Brother Lin is truly wise.”

Stephen Chow grinned.

”Big Brother is naturally wise.”

”Hiss, wait, didn’t I call you in first?”

”Brother, what about me?”

Lau Tak Wah thought about it seriously.

”You’re just okay.”

Stephen Chow’s face darkened, and he was about to teach Lau Tak Wah a lesson when the phone next to him happened to ring.

He had no choice but to answer the phone first.

After a few words from the other side, Stephen Chow suddenly jumped up onto the chair.

”What? Really?!”

At the same time, a burst of women’s screams came from not far away.

”Ah!!! Oh my god, a naked man!”

”Bah, pervert!”

It turned out that in his excitement just now, Stephen Chow’s movements were too big, and his bathrobe had slipped directly to the ground.

After hanging up the phone, he picked up the bathrobe, wrapped it around himself again, and muttered awkwardly.

”Cough...”

”What’s the big deal? Is it that strange to see a naked man in a bathhouse? Honestly.”

Lin Pei couldn’t bear to look and took a sip of ice water before asking.

”Second Brother, what’s making you so happy?”

Stephen Chow couldn’t help laughing for a while.

”Ah ha ha ha ha...”

”Big Brother, the Golden Rooster Awards just notified me that shaolin soccer has been nominated for Best Picture.”

”Also, Big Brother, you’ve been nominated for Best Actor.”

Lin Pei’s eyes lit up.

He was nominated?

Compared to his previous life, the events happening here were not only out of order in time, but some details were also different.

For example, he remembered that shaolin soccer only seemed to have won the Hong Kong Film Awards, and had nothing to do with the Golden Rooster Awards.

Just as he was feeling a bit excited, his phone also rang.

Upon answering, he found it was also from the Golden Rooster Awards committee. The staff told him that he was not only nominated for Best Actor for shaolin soccer, but also for Best Supporting Actor for operation red sea.

And just after he hung up the phone, he found that Director Li Bing from the disguiser had sent him a message not long ago.

It said that because of his role as the thief in the disguiser, he was nominated for the Dragon Country Television Feitian Awards for Best Supporting Actor.

When the disguiser started airing a while ago, the two had been in contact. It was during the summer season, and the response to the drama was quite good.

Lin Pei’s mouth curled up; he was getting a bit excited.

As expected of him, to be nominated for so many—what should he do? He was starting to feel a bit proud.

Upon hearing this good news, Stephen Chow burst into another round of wild laughter.

”Great, Big Brother! As expected of you, every film you’ve acted in has been nominated.”

”With so much good news, we have to celebrate. Let’s have another scrub later!”

”The legend is indeed true; this place is a blessed land.”

Lin Pei nodded.

He remembered that Lau Tak Wah had also received a call just now. Could it be from the Golden Rooster Awards committee as well?

”Wah Zai, do you also have good news to share with us?”

Lau Tak Wah shrugged.

”Oh, my mom told me to go home for dinner.”

”...”

...About a month later, Lin Pei rushed to Fujian to attend the Feitian Awards and Golden Rooster Awards ceremonies.

For some reason this year, the two awards ceremonies were held on the same day, and the venues were not far apart.

According to rumors, the reason the two awards wouldn’t give way to each other in terms of timing and finally had to be set on the same day was because of an actor with massive popularity.

They both wanted to grab a wave of hype first.

Lin Pei was puzzled, ”Who?”

Stephen Chow, who was in the same dressing room, blinked.

”Big Brother, that actor seems to be you.”

Lin Pei was a bit skeptical.

”Am I that popular?”

Was he... that popular?

Stephen Chow nodded frantically, his pride beyond words.

”Big Brother, you’re joking. You’ve always been very popular, okay?”
