His Acting Was So Good As a Ruthless Criminal, Drawing the Attention of Police Officers Across the Internet

155: Fold? Sorry, you missed out on a billion.Chen Qing felt uneasy, his heart thumping in his chest.

His current hand was the smallest straight; although he had swapped it, it really wasn’t anything big.

As for what hand Lin Pei held, he knew nothing at all.

The fellow opposite him was staring intently at his hands again, giving him no chance to swap cards a second time.

In the kid’s eyes was that familiar, overflowing confidence.

He had that same look during the first two rounds, and the kid had won both of them... If he lost again this time, not only would he never reclaim his dignity as the God of Gamblers, but his entire fortune would be gone.

Not to mention himself, what would happen to his wives and children?

If he gave up this round, he’d have a chance to swap for a better hand in the next one.

Chen Qing gritted his teeth and leaned back against his chair.

”I’m not calling this round...”

!!!!

No one expected the God of Gamblers, who had been so calm just moments ago, to choose to fold.

”The God of Gamblers isn’t calling this hand? I got excited for nothing.”

”His hand is probably bad. It would be highly unwise to force a call if he knew he’d likely lose.”

”I hope he wasn’t scared off by my Brother Lin’s superb gambling skills.”

”With the way Brother Lin remains unfazed even if Mount Tai were to collapse before him, anyone would find it hard to handle.”

”Fine, if the God of Gamblers doesn’t call, he doesn’t call. I just hope they continue in a bit; I’m quite curious about what hands they have.”

”...”

With Chen Qing folding this round, the most unhappy person in the room was Lau Tak Wah.

Because he was the one who pooled the money together, no one wanted this bet to go through more than him.

His expression was displeased, his eyes full of mockery.

”I say, Mr. Chen, you’re our Dragon Country’s number one God of Gamblers, so why can’t you afford to lose...”

Chen Qing’s eyes turned red with anger, yet he was unable to refute it.

He’s actually lecturing me?

Dammit, isn’t playing this big all thanks to him?

This was indeed somewhat embarrassing. If he couldn’t turn the tide in the following rounds and win a hand against Lin Pei, his title as the God of Gamblers would be completely lost.

Hearing Lau Tak Wah’s mocking words toward Chen Qing, Lin Pei waved his hand.

”Oh, no, no, how could Mr. Chen lose?”

”It’s probably thanks to Mr. Chen not calling. I just saw that my hand was pitifully small. If he had called, you’d be heavily in debt by now.”

Under everyone’s astonished gazes, Lin Pei revealed his hand.

Two of Diamonds, Four of Clubs, Five of Spades.

No need to compare; aside from the special 2-3-5 that can beat a Leopard, this was the absolute smallest hand in golden flower.

No matter what Chen Qing’s hand was, it would definitely have been bigger than Lin Pei’s.

Wang Feng couldn’t contain his impatience and reached out a long arm to flip over Chen Qing’s cards as well.

It was the 2-3-4 straight that Chen Qing had just swapped for.

Wang Feng’s composure shattered again.

Holy crap.

Is this God of Gamblers actually any good?

His previous hands were all smaller than Lin Pei’s, yet he had bet with such firm composure.

This time his hand was bigger, yet he didn’t dare to call?

If he had called, wouldn’t all the money have come back?

Lin Pei spoke up for Wang Feng at this moment.

”Mr. Chen’s hand indeed should have won. What a pity...”

Chen Qing’s face was now ashen.

Dammit.

Lin Pei’s hand was actually the smallest in golden flower, so what on earth was he so confident about just now?

He made everyone think he had a Leopard.

This is so frustrating!

Now he had lost face and missed out on two hundred billion.

Hiss.

Isn’t Lin Pei capable of swapping cards? Why didn’t he swap them this time?

Was his cheating technique not up to par, so he failed to swap?

Hmph, his methods are only so-so after all.

The more Chen Qing thought about it, the more agitated he became, and he felt like punching Wang Feng.

Looking at this guy’s unlucky face made him feel like his own luck had turned sour.

Wang Feng noticed it too.

To prevent actually getting beaten up, he quickly pulled his head back through the gap and buried himself in the crowd.

Truly, the kind are ridden and the softest persimmons are picked first; he looked so artistic and refined, gentle and elegant, which just made him an easy target for bullying.

The crowd sighed in disappointment.

”It really is a pity. How could the God of Gamblers keep misjudging like this? It shouldn’t be happening.”

”Uh... with that calm look Brother Lin had just now, who could have guessed he was holding the smallest hand?”

”Anyway, since coming in, I haven’t seen a single trace of unease on Brother Lin’s face. As expected of my idol, his mental fortitude is terrifyingly strong.”

”What’s going on? Brother Lin won the last two rounds? And now, in a round he should have lost, the opponent gave up. Could this all be within Brother Lin’s expectations?”

”If that’s the case, Brother Lin is truly a god.”

”...”

Lin Pei looked at the chips in front of him with a face full of regret.

”Mr. Chen, it’s a pity you didn’t call this round; otherwise, all of this would have been yours.”

”Shall we continue?”

”But what’s even more unfortunate is that you might never have such a chance to win again.”

Chen Qing’s teeth were nearly crushed from grinding them so hard.

”Kid, you’re speaking a bit too soon.”

”If your hand is still smaller than mine in the next round, what will you do then?”

Lin Pei smiled.

”Then I’ll naturally accept the loss gracefully. I’ll likely be more straightforward than you, Mr. Chen.”

”I only hope Mr. Chen will be a bit braver in a moment and not keep folding; it’s damaging to your reputation.”

Since Chen Qing had folded first, he could only swallow his anger.

Although folding is a normal move in gambling and sometimes even a wise one, for Chen Qing to do so as the God of Gamblers undoubtedly invited skepticism from others.

The reason a God of Gamblers is called such is because they should have superb gambling skills and precise judgment.

A situation like this really shouldn’t have happened to him.

Chen Qing gritted his teeth, his voice laced with suppressed rage.

”Kid, again!”

With Lin Pei’s immature cheating methods—unable to even swap out the smallest hand—how could he compete?

Next, he would take that hundred billion and make those two kids shoulder a massive debt.

The corner of Lin Pei’s mouth curled up.

”Sure.”

He indeed hadn’t swapped the cards just now.

However, if Chen Qing had chosen to call, he could have swapped the cards at any time.

In such a massive gamble, it was actually normal not to call.

But after this round, Chen Qing would believe his cheating skills were actually mediocre, so he wouldn’t choose to stop gambling or keep folding later on.

Wah Zai had already borrowed the money; the priority was for them to quickly win some back together.

By now, Chen Qing had mortgaged his assets and exchanged them for chips, ready for the next round.

The crowd lamented.

”It seems the God of Gamblers has also bet his entire fortune. This might be the final round.”

After the cards were dealt, Chen Qing found he could see Lin Pei’s hand again because Lin Pei had pulled back his shielding hand.

Lin Pei’s hand actually wasn’t small; it was a flush.

He had to admit, this kid’s luck was usually quite good.

Of course, he didn’t know that Lin Pei had already casually swapped them.

Chen Qing looked at his own cards again; they were all high cards, but he had an Ace, the highest one.

Taking advantage of this, he only needed to swap two cards to turn his hand into the highest Leopard: three Aces.

In that case, his victory would be certain.

And then, that fellow Lin Pei actually wasn’t staring at him, and he successfully swapped the cards!

Chen Qing was overjoyed. He looked coldly at Lin Pei, thinking that he had surely won this round!
