How am I Being a Gigolo When I'm Doing Door-to-door Sales?

85: Earn one million in secondsLin Chao held up his phone, rubbing his nose in a daze.

This old man... his temper is getting more and more explosive.

He muttered softly, ”Then why did you ask for my address...”

Despite his inward grumbling, he still obediently opened his messages, quickly typed out the name of his residential area and his door number, and sent them to his grandfather.

Just as his finger tapped the ’send’ button—

”Ding-dong—”

At almost the exact same time, another new message arrived on his phone.

It wasn’t a reply from his grandfather.

The sender was the bank.

Lin Chao opened it, feeling puzzled.

The next second, his pupils suddenly contracted.

One million had just been deposited into his bank card!

Lin Chao stared at the long string of zeros on his phone screen, feeling as if his breathing had stopped.

His brain completely stalled at that moment.

Money? Where did this money come from?

He blinked subconsciously, brought the phone closer to his eyes, and counted carefully again.

Ones, tens, hundreds, thousands, ten thousands, hundred thousands... Right, one million!

The first name that popped into his head was Lan Yanran.

Could it be the labor fee for helping her before?

However, Lin Chao quickly dismissed that idea.

Given Lan Yanran’s personality, if she really wanted to transfer money to him, she would definitely send a message or make a call beforehand; it wouldn’t be so silent.

Then... a cool and stubborn figure instantly surfaced in his mind.

Shen Zhixia?

Who else could it be but her?

At the thought of this possibility, Lin Chao’s heart skipped a beat for no reason.

Without the slightest hesitation, he immediately found the number he had just saved in his call logs and dialed it.

”Beep... beep...”

The phone rang twice before it was picked up.

From the receiver came Shen Zhixia’s slightly raspy yet still cold voice.

”Something the matter?”

Lin Chao licked his dry lips and got straight to the point.

”Did you... transfer some money to me?”

There was a second of silence on the other end.

”Yes.”

It really was her!

Lin Chao gripped his phone, his voice slightly cracking. ”One million?!”

”Director Shen, what is the meaning of this? Even if it’s an advance payment for the medicine, it doesn’t need to be this much!”

Shen Zhixia actually let out a light chuckle. ”That’s not for the medicine.”

”That is the reward for you saving my life today.”

”The medicine money is separate.”

Lin Chao was completely stunned.

A reward for saving her life?

He instinctively wanted to refuse. ”No, no! I can’t take this money! I...”

Before he could finish, Shen Zhixia interrupted him. ”What? Do you mean to say...”

”That my, Shen Zhixia’s, life isn’t even worth a million?”

”...”

That one sentence directly choked back everything Lin Chao wanted to say.

This conversation was officially impossible to continue.

What else could he say?

Lin Chao held it in for a long time, finally squeezing out two words from between his teeth.

”...Fine then.”

On the other end, there seemed to be an extremely faint sound of laughter before the call was hung up.

Listening to the busy tone, Lin Chao shook his head, not knowing whether to laugh or cry.

However, when he looked down at that bank message again, the slight conflict in his heart was instantly washed away by immense joy.

Another million!

Lin Chao’s mood was like being on a roller coaster; one moment he was apprehensive about his grandfather’s attitude, and the next, he had soared into the clouds.

He grinned and let out a delighted laugh.

Life really is full of surprises!

Just as he was basking in the joy—

”Ding-dong—”

The phone screen lit up again.

It was another message from Lan Qingyu.

Lin Chao clicked it open, and the smile on his face instantly froze.

[Lan Qingyu: Lin Chao! Quick! Two massage beds! The 128,888 model!]

???

Three question marks slowly appeared over Lin Chao’s head.

massage beds? And two of them?

He dialed her number immediately.

The call connected in a second.

Before Lin Chao could speak, Lan Qingyu’s excited voice, sounding like she was on adrenaline, came through.

”How is it, how is it? You saw my message, right! Hurry up and place the order!”

Lin Chao was dumbfounded and blurted out, ”My dear lady, where did this order come from?!”

”Don’t tell me you bought them yourself again!”

”Hehe!” Lan Qingyu let out a smug and manic laugh on the other end. ”Of course it wasn’t me!”

”It’s Wu Xiuxiu!”

Lin Chao was even more confused.

”Wu Xiuxiu? Didn’t she just buy a massager this afternoon?”

”Exactly!” Lan Qingyu’s tone was full of the desire for praise.

”It’s because she bought it! And guess what? Her parents came back this afternoon, and she let them use it. They both said it was great! Their backs don’t ache anymore, their legs don’t hurt—it’s practically a miracle!”

”Her parents were so happy they said since it’s so good, they should buy one for each of their own parents to show their filial piety.”

”Then Xiuxiu heard this and felt that giving a massager wasn’t grand enough. She figured if she’s going to give something, it should be the best!”

”She talked to her parents, and the couple discussed it and decided to just send a massage bed to each side of the family! How impressive is that!”

Lan Qingyu said it all in one breath and concluded with a ’praise me’ tone, ”So, that’s how the order came about!”

She cleared her throat, her pride almost overflowing from the screen. ”Well?”

”Am I amazing or what!”

Hearing Lan Qingyu’s pride nearly soaring through the roof, Lin Chao couldn’t help but let the corners of his mouth turn up, but he deliberately threw cold water on her.

”I must have misheard, right?”

”Isn’t it your classmate Wu Xiuxiu who’s amazing?”

”Her parents are filial to their elders and spent a fortune; what does that have to do with you?”

The manic laughter on the other end stopped abruptly.

The air seemed to freeze for two seconds.

Immediately after, Lan Qingyu’s scream, loud enough to blow the roof off, came through!

”Lin Chao!”

”What do you mean by that?!”

”Wu Xiuxiu is my classmate, yes! But she is also my downline now! My client!”

Downline?

Lin Chao raised an eyebrow, instantly catching the drift.

He drawled his words, his tone full of teasing, ”Oh—I see.”

”You promised your classmate a commission too, didn’t you?”

”...”

On the other end, Lan Qingyu was suddenly stuck for words.

Her aggressive energy from a moment ago instantly withered away.

She hemmed and hawed for a long time, her voice as quiet as a mosquito’s buzz. ”Hehe... you’re still the smart one.”

”I... I promised to give her a 1% commission.”

After hearing this, Lin Chao was so exasperated he laughed. ”My dear young lady!”

”You second-generation rich kids are really something!”

”I heard your monthly pocket money is more than twenty thousand, isn’t it?”

”Why are you working so hard for this little bit of commission?”

These words were like stepping on Lan Qingyu’s tail, and she immediately bristled.

”What do you know!”

”Does money you earn yourself feel the same as money given by your parents?!”

”This is earned through my own ability! I can spend it with a clear conscience!”

She got more excited as she spoke, her voice rising an octave. ”Besides! I’m not doing this for a mere commission!”

”I’m enjoying the process! The sense of accomplishment from landing a big order through my own efforts! Do you understand?!”
