How am I Being a Gigolo When I'm Doing Door-to-door Sales?

51: A beautiful female director was parachuted in.One was in the provincial capital, holding the title of the head office.

Of the other two, one was here in Linhai City, and the other was in the neighboring Pingjiang City.

Now, suddenly sending some director down—what was the purpose? To inspect the work? Or just to pad their resume?

Although Lin Chao was skeptical, he didn’t say much.

He had managed to reach the level of supervisor, after all, making him part of the company’s middle management.

He had never actually attended one of these so-called ”high-level meetings” before.

There was no harm in going to see what the fuss was about.

”Alright, I got it.”

He responded flatly.

Time flew by, and it was soon 9:50.

Zhang Wei slipped over again, this time holding two brand-new notebooks and two pens.

He placed one set on Lin Chao’s desk.

”Brother Chao, let’s go. It’s almost time.”

Lin Chao looked at the notebook and pen on his desk, looking completely bewildered.

”What are these for?”

Zhang Wei wore a ”you just don’t get it” expression and leaned in, saying, ”Brother Chao, at the meeting, you don’t have to say a word or write a single thing down, but you have to have this notebook and pen in your hand.”

He patted the notebook, speaking with great conviction.

”What do you call this? It’s called attitude!”

”Let the new leader see that we’re taking this meeting seriously, get it?”

Lin Chao was stunned by his words for a moment, then chuckled.

The tricks of the trade in a company were indeed harder to find than acupuncture points.

He picked up the notebook, weighed it in his hand, and felt that Zhang Wei had a point.

”Alright then.”

Lin Chao stood up.

”Then let’s go see what kind of extraordinary person this ’big shot’ from the head office is.”

Lin Chao and Zhang Wei hunched over and slipped into the conference room through the back door.

They found the most inconspicuous corner and sat down.

The large conference room was already full of people.

Although it was a meeting, no one dared to speak loudly.

There was only a suppressed murmur, like the buzzing of countless flies.

Lin Chao looked around, feeling a bit suspicious.

Today’s setup was a bit too grand.

He saw the ”Mediterranean” Mr. Wang from the Production Department and the ”Smiling Tiger” Manager Liu from the HR Department.

Even the elusive CFO, who was said to have a very powerful background, was sitting there upright and formal.

”Brother Chao, do you see that?”

Zhang Wei leaned toward his ear, his voice trembling slightly with excitement.

”They’re all big shots! Every single one of them!”

Lin Chao curled his lip, wondering what kind of formidable person this new director was to make the entire management team of the company act as if they were facing a great enemy.

Just then, the heavy wooden door of the conference room was pushed open from the outside.

*Creak—*

A soft sound.

All the chatter came to an abrupt halt.

Dozens of eyes, as if a single switch had been flipped, turned in unison toward the door.

A woman stood at the doorway.

A sharply tailored dark blue suit skirt perfectly outlined her tall and well-proportioned figure, exuding an aura that was both austere and sexy.

Her jet-black hair was meticulously tied back, revealing a smooth, full forehead and a neck as graceful as a swan’s.

She wore delicate, light makeup; her red lips were full, and the bridge of her nose was high.

Especially those slightly upturned phoenix eyes; her gaze was as sharp as a blade tempered in ice, making it impossible to look at her directly.

The woman looked to be around thirty years old, but the powerful aura she radiated was enough to make all the seasoned veterans present feel a chill in their hearts.

She was like a walking iceberg—cold, elegant, and carrying a majesty that warned others to keep their distance.

General Manager Wang of the branch company, a man who usually flaunted his power with his beer belly sticking out, was now following closely behind her.

His face was plastered with a fawning smile, and his waist was bent nearly ninety degrees, looking just like a sycophantic eunuch.

Lin Chao was stunned.

*Tsk.*

This woman is a real stunner.

Whether it was her looks, her figure, or that queen-like aura, she hit all his aesthetic marks.

His gaze, filled with scrutiny and appreciation, was completely undisguised and naturally stood out.

The woman at the head of the table seemed to notice; her cold phoenix eyes swept accurately across the long conference table toward him.

Her gaze carried a hint of warning and displeasure.

Zhang Wei gave Lin Chao a discreet kick under the table, signaling him to rein it in.

Lin Chao, however, acted as if he hadn’t felt it. Instead of looking away, he met her gaze with a slight curl of his lips, offering a polite and composed smile.

The woman also seemed a bit surprised.

She probably saw that the young man’s gaze held only pure admiration and not a hint of lewd desire.

She let out a barely audible cold snort before finally looking away.

The woman walked to the head of the table and placed the folder in her hand down with a soft thud.

The action wasn’t large, and the sound wasn’t loud, but it made everyone’s heart skip a beat.

General Manager Wang immediately cleared his throat and introduced her with a thick-skinned smile, ”Everyone, let me introduce someone to you.”

”This is the new director sent by the head office, Shen Zhixia, Director Shen!”

”Starting today, Director Shen will take full charge of all business at our Linhai Branch Company! Everyone, please join me in welcoming her!”

Sparse applause broke out, dry and tinged with hypocrisy and perfunctoriness.

Shen Zhixia stood up and looked around the room expressionlessly.

Her gaze lingered briefly on each person’s face with an invisible sense of pressure, finally sweeping past Lin Chao’s face almost imperceptibly.

”Hello, everyone.”

Her voice was like her person—cold, crisp, and devoid of emotion.

”My name is Shen Zhixia.”

”From today onward, I will serve as the director of the Linhai Branch Company.”

”I’ll be working with you all from now on, and I hope we can get along harmoniously.”

Her phrase ”get along harmoniously” was spoken lightly.

But everyone present could hear a chill in it.

Sure enough.

The next second, Shen Zhixia leaned forward slightly, her hands resting on the table.

”Alright, enough with the pleasantries.”

”Now, let’s begin the meeting.”

Her voice wasn’t loud, but it was like a heavy hammer striking everyone’s heart.

In the conference room, the temperature seemed to drop a few more degrees.

”Before I came, I looked at the performance reports for the Linhai Branch Company.”

Shen Zhixia casually opened the folder in front of her, but her eyes didn’t fall on it; instead, they scraped across the faces of each department head like a knife.

”Frankly, I’m very disappointed.”

”Project progress is lagging fifteen percent behind schedule.”

”The financial reports are full of holes, made like a sieve.”

”Especially the Marketing Department; last quarter’s performance couldn’t even match the Pingjiang City Branch Company next door, which was only established a year ago.”

”It’s simply a disgrace.”
