Dimensional Keeper: All My Skills Are at Level 100

Chapter 848: Fish Lizards

Confused, Max followed the rat’s line of sight and what he saw made his eyes narrow. Just ahead, a massive school of strange fish swam in tight formation. These weren’t ordinary fish.

Though small in size, each one had sapphire-blue eyes that shimmered like gems in the water, and their bodies were covered in snake-like scales that gave them an almost draconic appearance. The air in the water felt heavier near them, and their movements were sharp, almost intelligent.

”Fish Lizards,” Max muttered under his breath, recognizing the species with a grave expression. They were dangerous—fast, coordinated, and capable of using their sharp fins like blades in the water. But more importantly, their presence here triggered a thought. ’Could Fish Dragon Grass be nearby?’

Fish Lizards were social monsters, known for traveling in schools and dying in the same area when their time came. And where they died, Fish Dragon Grass—rare herbs that absorbed their essence—would often grow.

Max hesitated for a moment. It was risky, but the reward was worth it.

He gently tapped the golden rat, who obediently slipped into the Dimension of Spirit.

Once inside, the little rate went wild. It began exploring the new world his master had given him.

Max then activated his concealment techniques and slowly, carefully, moved forward through the underwater terrain. As he crept closer to the school of Fish Lizards, he saw that they were resting among a thick bed of coral reefs. His soul power swept across the area like a thin net, scanning with precision.

Amidst the vibrant corals, he spotted what he’d hoped for—skeletal remains of Fish Lizards. And more importantly, growing between those bones were several lush green spiritual herbs, about a foot long. They were shaped eerily like the creatures they came from—slender and sharp, like aquatic lizards with leafy textures.

”Fish Dragon Grass,” Max whispered, his heart pounding with joy.

But he didn’t move just yet. His expression darkened as he assessed the danger. There were over a hundred Fish Lizards here, including a terrifying trio at the 4th, 5th, and 6th levels of the Legend Rank.

Ten more were at early stages of Legend Rank. And he... was still in the water, where his techniques had reduced impact and he possessed no water-type skills or area-of-effect attacks that could help him fight them off.

He clenched his fists. ’There’s no way I can force my way through.’ The cost would be too great—possibly even his life.

After weighing the risks, Max came up with a plan: he would act as the decoy. He’d lure the Fish Lizards away with his presence and let the little rat—stealthy and agile—sneak in to harvest the Fish Dragon Grass while the monsters were distracted.

He quickly released the Treasure Seeking Rat again and knelt down to explain the situation. The little guy trembled at first, eyes darting toward the swarming Fish Lizards in fear, but Max reassured him with a gentle stroke on the head and whispered promises of delicious food and a safe place to sleep afterward.

With a mix of coaxing and coercion, Max finally got the little rat to nod, albeit reluctantly.

As the rat scampered to a hiding spot, ready to wait for the signal, Max prepared himself. He would have to swim directly into the territory of the Fish Lizards and make a ruckus big enough to drag them far from the coral reef—without getting torn apart in the process.

Taking a deep breath, Max whispered, ”Alright... Let’s begin.”

Considering the high intelligence of the Fish Lizards, Max didn’t charge in recklessly. Instead, he approached the edge of the coral zone with extreme caution, blending into the currents as he concealed his presence.

Then, just as he reached the outer perimeter of the school, he deliberately released a controlled wave of his aura—a sharp, provocative pulse like a predator marking its presence. The effect was immediate.

One of the Fish Lizards caught wind of it. Its eyes locked onto Max, and it let out a guttural roar—deep, reverberating, and surprisingly draconic. Opening its maw wide, lined with rows of jagged saw-like teeth, the creature surged forward in an instant, a blur of scales and speed, intent on swallowing him whole. Max didn’t flinch.

Instead, he drew the Blue Dragon Sword with fluid grace and swung downward in one clean arc. With a sickening squelch, the blade cleaved through the Fish Lizard mid-charge, splitting its body clean in half. Blood poured into the water like ink, dyeing everything red and stirring the lake into chaos.

The death cry acted like a trigger. The entire group of Fish Lizards erupted into a frenzy, their roars echoing like underwater thunder. Dozens of them turned and rushed toward Max with fury, each one snapping their jaws and thrashing their powerful tails, disturbing the tranquil waters into a chaotic swirl.

But Max didn’t flee. On the contrary, he pushed forward, carving a path through the weaker Fish Lizards. He understood exactly what he was doing. The strongest three—at the 4th, 5th, and 6th levels of Legend Rank—hadn’t moved yet.

He wanted to provoke them. And the only way to do that was to slaughter enough of their kind to enrage them.

Wielding his sword infused with the advanced stage of a level 2 sword concept, Max slashed in wide arcs with deadly precision. Each strike was a storm of cutting force. Every time the blade moved, it reaped the lives of fifteen to twenty Fish Lizards at once, splitting them apart like grass before a scythe.

Clouds of blood bloomed through the water, and the shrieks of dying beasts echoed like distorted thunder.

His brutal efficiency worked. Within moments, the water trembled again—not from Max’s movements, but from the arrival of the true terrors. Over a dozen higher-ranked Fish Lizards surged forth from the deeper coral formations.

They were massive, sleek, and faster than the previous ones, each easily rivaling a 4th-level Legend Rank expert. They opened their enormous mouths, exposing curved fangs capable of crushing rock, and charged like a pack of enraged beasts.

Max’s expression hardened. He had underestimated just how much more powerful these creatures were. Their charges created shockwaves that sent huge ripples through the lake, shattering nearby coral and smashing stone into dust.
