Longevity Reward Redemption: The Immortal Clan Starts with Farmers

12: Three years of development, a martial arts familyChen Changsheng downed the five elements soup in one gulp; it tasted sweet and was quite good.

Soon after, a surge of heat rose in his lower abdomen.

Chen Changsheng marveled at how quickly the medicine took effect and hurriedly began practicing the Five Elements Origin Cultivation Art while the effects were active!

After finishing the stance training, Chen Changsheng immediately felt refreshed, his entire being radiating a sense of satisfaction!

”Not bad, practicing like this requires medicinal supplements!”

Chen Changsheng nodded with satisfaction. He estimated that based on the medicinal potency of this five elements soup alone, he would be able to enter the Major Achievement of the Skin Refining Realm within two years of consumption.

Entering the Major Achievement of the Skin Refining Realm in two years was already quite good; hadn’t Chuanwu, with his superior aptitude, spent a year doing it!

Chen Changsheng called his wife and his second son over, having them each down a bowl of five elements soup to experience the power of the medicinal supplements.

After feeling the progress in his stance training, the second son was also extremely excited.

Chen Changsheng told them that one day there would be enough five elements soup for them to use, enough that they could drink one bowl and pour out another...

Because Chen Changsheng had already made up his mind; buying them cost too much, so he would grow the medicinal ingredients himself!

However, his family now had thirty acres of tea fields, plus twenty acres of dry land, and Chen Changsheng was simply too busy to manage it all.

So he made a decision: follow the example of the landlords and hire long-term laborers!

Chen Changsheng returned to Kaoshan Village and found the village elder to state his conditions for hiring long-term laborers: thirty taels of silver a year!

This wage was not small; many wealthy farmers who tilled their own land only earned that much by the end of the year.

Consequently, in the days that followed, people came to Chen Changsheng every few days to recommend themselves!

After picking and choosing, Chen Changsheng found three long-term laborers in total.

The first was responsible for the Chen family’s twenty acres of dry fields; this was the family’s subsistence farmland, so it had to be cultivated!

The chosen person was Li Yilian’s cousin-uncle, a very honest man and a hardworking farmer.

The second was responsible for the Chen family’s thirty acres of tea fields, which were the source of the family’s wealth. Tending to tea fields was easier than tilling land, but Chen Changsheng still paid thirty taels a year, mainly for reliability!

This person was Chen Changsheng’s cousin, a distant relative. His father had two sons but only ten acres of land, making it too difficult to support both. Chen Changsheng extended a helping hand, hoping that he would know to be grateful and repay the kindness.

The last one was responsible for planting medicinal ingredients on the remaining thirty acres of land on the mountain; this was the cultivation accelerator for everyone in the Chen family!

Growing medicinal ingredients was not simple. Each ingredient was very precious, and one had to be familiar with their medicinal properties and living environments to grow them.

Chen Changsheng specifically went to the county town and spent sixty taels of silver a year to poach an old herbalist to be exclusively responsible for this matter!

From the day he hired the people, the villagers began to address Chen Changsheng as Master Chen.

This made Chen Changsheng secretly pleased for several days; he had also become a person of status in this feudal society!

With the manpower ready, Chen Changsheng led the Chen family into a phase of rapid development.

He and the old herbalist planted various Five Elements medicinal ingredients on the mountain, guided his cousin Double Happiness in tending to the tea fields, and from time to time, bought some medicinal ingredients to refine five elements soup and practice stance training!

And just as he expected, Liu Jinshan did not continue to take action against him for the time being.

Liu Hongtu smashed the teacup in his hand with an angry face and said viciously: ”Father, are we just going to keep watching that mud-legged peasant live in a big courtyard and make big money?”

Liu Hongtu had come to find Liu Jinshan today specifically to take action against Chen Changsheng; he was extremely envious of Chen Changsheng’s Courtyard House and tea fields.

Especially now that the villagers all addressed him as Master Chen, and every time they talked about it, they said how capable Chen Changsheng was, having turned from a bottom-tier farmer into a master!

This made Liu Hongtu’s previous behavior of leading people to mock Chen Changsheng as a prodigal son seem even more ridiculous!

”Sigh, eldest son. One must not be impatient in all things!” Liu Jinshan slowly sipped his tea, looking as if he had everything under control.

In fact, Liu Jinshan was also puzzled. It stood to reason that him sending Liu Ergou to deal with a farmer like Chen Changsheng should have been a sure thing, so why did Liu Ergou suddenly disappear?

Liu Jinshan was an old fox; he suspected that Chen Changsheng might have someone helping him in the dark. He would not easily take action again until he found out who that person was!

”Watch him build high buildings, watch him host guests, and then watch his building collapse!”

”Do you think the people of Kaoshan Village all admire Chen Changsheng? In fact, they are mostly jealous. We just need to nurture the jealousy in the hearts of the villagers, let it brew, and when the time comes, with just a gentle push, Chen Changsheng will be burned to death!”

A flash of viciousness crossed Liu Jinshan’s eyes. Do not think too highly of farmers; when they turn evil, they are darker than wealthy families!

Liu Jinshan had already thought of another means to deal with Chen Changsheng; now he just needed time and opportunity.

”And right now, it is a critical moment for your second uncle’s official career. We must not make too much noise and cause him trouble. Once he gets promoted, a mere Chen Changsheng will be scared to death just by the mention of him!”

Hearing his father’s words, Liu Hongtu still had some lingering anger in his heart. He said viciously: ”If it were up to me, I would have my second brother come back from the county and just kill the whole Chen family. My second brother is a Martial Artist; dealing with them shouldn’t be simpler than killing a chicken!”

Hearing his eldest son’s words, Liu Jinshan’s expression immediately turned ugly. He slammed his teacup down and rebuked angrily: ”Stupid! A mere Chen family can be destroyed with a snap of our fingers; that is just a trivial matter. But your younger brother is working under your second uncle, and his official career is a major matter!”

”It’s just a mere thousand taels of silver; compared to your second brother’s future and reputation, which is lighter and which is heavier?”

Seeing his father get angry, Liu Hongtu immediately shrank back. He was a straw bag with no real ability, relying entirely on the Liu Family’s influence to act like a tyrant. So, the moment his father got angry, he was scared into a quail!

— — — — — — — — — — — — — — While Liu Jinshan was waiting for the right moment, Chen Changsheng had entered the fast lane of development!

The earnings from the tea fields, apart from being saved to deal with emergencies, were all spent by Chen Changsheng on medicinal ingredients to refine five elements soup.

Chen Changsheng took his second son and wife to Cultivate with the supplements!

Chen Changsheng was also not stingy with his eldest son, often supplying him with Qi and Blood Pills, a supplement for most Martial Artists!

Just like that, in the blink of an eye, three years passed quietly!

Liu Jinshan certainly did not expect how much the Chen family would change during the three years he gave Chen Changsheng!

On the Reunion Festival in late autumn, the Chen family had a reunion dinner!

Although this world did not have the Mid-Autumn Festival, Chen Changsheng still brought over the habits from his previous life!

”Eldest son, have you not yet broken through to the third stage, the Bone Refining Realm?” Chen Changsheng asked, taking a sip of strong chinese liquor while watching Chen Chuanwu gnaw on a large bone.

Three years had passed, and Chen Chuanwu was now a Flesh Refining Realm Martial Artist, striving to break through to the Bone Refining Realm!

He was only fourteen years old at this time; he was truly a martial arts prodigy with superior aptitude!

”Father, the Bone Refining Realm is too difficult. My master said that if I can break through by the age of twenty, it would be considered impressive!” Chen Chuanwu replied while finishing the large bone in his hand.

”Big brother, your Cultivation Technique is not good enough. I have also entered the Flesh Refining Realm; you have been caught up by me!” Chen Chuanwen said jokingly to Chuanwu. Possessing medium martial arts aptitude, he had successfully broken through to the Flesh Refining Realm with the help of the five elements soup.

”For a Flesh Refining Realm like you, I could take on five!” Chen Chuanwu stretched out his greasy five fingers and said with a hint of disdain.

The Chen family’s Five Elements Origin Cultivation Art did not have combat techniques, and coupled with the fact that his flesh refining level was not as good as Chuanwu’s, Chuanwen was no match for him.

Chen Changsheng watched the two bickering, a faint smile on his lips. With the help of the five elements soup, he and his wife had also entered the Skin Refining Realm.

Their family could be said to be a nascent Martial Arts Clan!
