Chapter 1600: Chapter 1594: Unaware of a Mother’s Love_1 Chapter 1600: Chapter 1594: Unaware of a Mother’s Love_1 “That’s because your mind isn’t focused on it. Even if you were starving, you wouldn’t feel it. It’s like you simply ignored it, just like when we were on missions back then. We didn’t have an option to eat, or to make a choice, all we could do was to accept it and gradually get used to it. When you knew there was no chance to eat, you stopped longing for it and naturally, you wouldn’t feel hungry anymore.” Nangong Beiying strongly believed in forming habits.

“I feel the same way. Things are better now that there’s less work here so I can eat on time most of the time. But I wonder if I can withstand the feeling of hunger if things get busy again?” Qin Xue feared that readapting to irregular eating habits might require a lengthy process.

“It’s natural to feel that way, take it slow in the future, don’t press yourself too hard.” Nangong Beiying advices as she walked side by side with Qin Xue.

“I guess I have no other choice.” Qin Xue had no solution to this dilemma. Often it wasn’t because she didn’t want to do something, rather it was something she couldn’t achieve.

“Miss, you’re up early, good morning.” Qing Teng was a morning person too, but she didn’t expect anyone else to be up earlier than her.

“Good morning.”

“Good morning, Qing Teng, did you sleep well last night?” Qin Xue noticed the dark circles under Qing Teng’s eyes. What’s going on with everyone lately?

“I moved to a new place, brought back memories of my mum, so I stayed up a bit late. But don’t worry, I’ve had enough sleep, look how energetic I am now.” Qing Teng reminisced about her young days living with her mother in this courtyard.

Later, her mother made her live alone in the adjacent courtyard. She was scared and cried, but her mother wouldn’t let her return to this side. In the end, she got used to it. Now, back living here, memories of her mother came rushing back.

“Life is fleeting, dwelling on the past won’t help. You need to look forward, live your life well. I believe that’s what your mum would want to see.

Moreover, last night I realized something. Although your mum made you live alone at a tender age, she chose the place closest to her. Your rooms were just separated by one wall.

Furthermore, she set up her study in her own room. I think she was afraid she wouldn’t hear you if you cried or were scared when she was in the office or reading in another room, so she used this method to keep you company.

You have to admit, your mum wasn’t a heartless person, otherwise she wouldn’t have used this method to help you grow up.” Qin Xue woke up this morning and noticed the movement in the neighboring room, then she understood everything. If you claim such a mother doesn’t love her own child, who would believe that? Nobody would believe it, not even if they were beaten.

“Is it really like that?” Qing Teng resented this incident all her life. Deep down, she had a knot in her heart. She couldn’t understand why her mother treated her that way. Other children were able to live with their own mothers, so why was she sent away to live alone at such a young age?

After listening to Qin Xue’s analysis, she realized she had probably misunderstood her mother all along, her actions were to foster her independence. And look, didn’t she quickly adapt to living alone after she left the village? Her mother clearly had good intentions.

She used to believe that her mother didn’t love her enough, so she would sometimes deliberately infuriate her. However, her mother often just sighed and watched her helplessly. Now Qing Teng realized how horrible she had been, completely failing to perceive her mother’s love. What had she done to her mother? Her mother’s heart must have been hurting so much, not only her daughter not understanding her painstaking efforts, but even deliberately antagonizing her.
