Reborn in the Eighties as a Housewife with a Space

Chapter 797: Chapter 791: Eyes Filled with Desire

Upon returning home, Chu Xiaoqiao saw her family sitting on the sofa, occasionally glancing at the door. She didn’t know how to break the news without upsetting them.

“Mom, my second brother and I came to pick up the children,” Chu Xiaoqiao finally gathered the courage to speak to her mother.

“Are your eldest brother and his wife not coming?” Zhao Xuezhi asked her daughter hopefully.

“No, they’re not. My elder brother said that they would only see me again if my second brother and I bring the children to them. There was nothing I could do but to come here and pick up the kids. Really, you can ask my second brother if you don’t believe me.” Chu Xiaoqiao looked at the visibly upset faces of her family as she spoke.

“It’s true.” Chu Yi nodded solemnly, confirming his sister’s words.

“Fine, then you two take them.” Zhao Xuezhi was heartbroken, but if her daughter visited often, she would at least be informed about her eldest son’s situation. Now that option was no longer available, so she had her take the children.

...
Chu Xiaoqiao nodded to Chu Yi in understanding, and the two took the children from their mother and grandfather. As they were about to leave, they were called back.

“Put these on the children,” advised Zhao Xuezhi, giving each child a red packet and a jade pendant.

“Mom, what is this for…” Chu Xiaoqiao examined the jade pendants hanging on the children’s necks and called out to her mother.

“Just take it with you,” Zhao Xuezhi looked at the jade pendants, decided to let bygones be bygones.

“Alright then, we are leaving. Say goodbye to great-grandpa and great-grandma,” Chu Xiaoqiao gently pulled the children’s hands, waving towards their family.

“Bro, let’s go,” Chu Xiaoqiao called to Chu Yi.

“Alright, let’s go then,” Chu Yi’s heart felt heavy, like they were parting forever, leaving a bitter taste in his mouth.

Qin Xue stood in the pavilion eagerly looking out, missing her children immensely since it was half a day since she last saw them.

“Xue’er, please sit down,” Chu Molin was distressed seeing his restless wife.

“Why haven’t they come yet?” Qin Xue listened to her husband and sat down, but couldn’t resist her restlessness.

“Don’t worry, they will be here soon,” Chu Molin had always wanted to scold her for letting the children away for such a long time given her worry, but seeing her so anxious, he held his words.

“They’re here.” Upon seeing them, Qin Xue immediately stood up, startling the others.

Finally, under Qin Xue’s eagerly waiting, Chu Xiaoqiao appeared. Qin Xue walked over to take the children, her tense heart finally relaxing.

Perhaps all mothers are like this, becoming overly concerned about their children’s wellbeing in their absence. She knew the children were with their family, but she couldn’t help worrying if they were behaving well and if they had cried.

“Big brother, you hold this one,” Chu Yi handed the other child to Chu Molin.

Without a word, Chu Molin reached out to hold his child. The moment the baby reached Chu Molin’s arms, he giggled.

Maybe it was telepathy, but when Chu Molin looked down, he saw his son’s pure smile. His heart softened, and he smiled back.

“Chu Molin, let’s go home,” Qin Xue smiled at her husband, cradling their son.

“Alright, let’s go. We can catch up again when we’re free,” Chu Molin said.

“Sure, we can go for a drink some other time,” Xiao Qi agreed, wanting to relax.

“Count me in,” added Li Zhao.

“Alright, then. We’ll tell your family, and then we’ll head back with the children. We used to schedule get-togethers when we were all in S Province, now that we’re all in the Imperial Capital, scheduling one should be a piece of cake, right?” Chu Molin suggested, not opposed to the idea.
