Lin Fei quickly put on the dark blue guard uniform.

” Let’s go, let’s see what’s going on! ”

” Mmm. ”

The two exchanged a glance, mutual understanding already formed, and they didn’t delay any longer.

Quickly dressed, they pushed open the metal door and hurried toward Equipment Depot No. 3 in Zone A.

The passages inside Steel Bone City were like a giant steel anthill, crisscrossing with complex structures.

On the walls, thick pipes and cables with flashing indicator lights resembled the blood vessels and nerves of a giant beast, giving this underground city a suffocating vitality.

” You can’t see the sun at all in the underground city. ”

Lin Fei replied: ” Yeah! Otherwise, why would it be called an underground city! ”

” Life here is too suffocating. ”

” Indeed, I once saw a tech blogger say that basking in the sun produces endorphins, which make people feel happy. Not getting any sun for a long time really makes it easy to feel depressed. ”

” By the way, Xiao Fei, the target planet for our prerequisite pass task is this Saka Star. ”

” Yeah! We had to complete the task before we could land here. ”

” But after coming here, there isn’t even a main quest, and I don’t even know what to do. ” Lin Mengzi still preferred world trials with clear tasks, as that way she could have a goal.

” This is what’s called an open-world game. ” Lin Fei smiled.

They moved quickly along the intricate iron catwalks.

The surroundings were filled with rushing guard members.

Most were people wearing ordinary ceramic armor. Among them, the team leaders were larger, wearing exoskeleton mechs over two meters tall, with a high-energy rifle more than a meter long strapped to their backs.

They looked a bit like the marines from StarCraft.

Clearly, the news of Zerg activity had caused this silent underground fortress to tense up instantly.

” Da da da—boom!! ”

A burst of urgent alarms accompanied by violent vibrations suddenly came from the direction of the city’s outer wall!

” Warning! Warning! The outer wall of the C-7 area is under violent impact! The energy shield is dropping rapidly! ”

” Repeat! The outer wall of the C-7 area... ”

The voice on the public address System stopped abruptly, replaced by a harsh, ear-piercing sound of metal tearing.

Then, a roar like a landslide!

” Oh no! The outer wall has been breached! ”

” Those bugs are breaking in! ”

Some soldiers screamed.

Lin Fei and Lin Mengzi suddenly accelerated, their internal mana circulating instantly.

Wind rose beneath their feet, their speed skyrocketed, and they sped toward the C-7 area like two arrows released from a bowstring.

When they arrived at the C-7 area, the scene before them was already a chaotic battlefield.

The alloy outer wall, several meters thick, had been forcibly torn open, creating a huge gap. Dark, hideous insect silhouettes surged in through the gap like a bursting flood!

At the forefront was a Zerg vanguard, exceptionally large in size, covered in dark purple carapaces, with several pairs of hideous, giant sharp claws!

Its three pairs of compound eyes, flickering with bloodthirsty red light, greedily scanned the interior of Steel Bone City.

It let out an excited hiss from its mouthparts: ” Roar—!!! Finally! Finally found a damn human nest! Fresh flesh! Delicious Soul! ”

” Children! Charge for me! Kill them all! Devour every nutrient you see! Turn this place into our new hatchery! ”

” Chi chi!! ”

The Zerg vanguard roared and took the lead, crashing into Steel Bone City with its massive body.

Behind it, dense swarms of Zerg warriors followed closely, varying in form.

Some were like giant sickle beetles, some were like multi-legged centipede monsters, and others could fly and spray corrosive acid from their mouthparts.

Their eyes flashed with the same madness and bloodthirst.

They made teeth-aching chirping sounds and pounced on the first line of Steel Bone City guards.

” Open fire! Hit them hard! Don’t let them break the defense line! ”

” A bunch of idiot bugs, I’m going to f*** you all to death today!! ”

A furious guard captain, biting a cigarette, roared fiercely.

The Gauss rifle in his hand roared, spitting out deadly energy bullets.

It hit a pouncing sickle beetle, shattering its carapace.

The heavy-duty mechs wearing thick exoskeleton armor beside him, as well as the ordinary soldiers, also raised their weapons and poured firepower onto the swarming insects.

Rumble!

Flowers of blood and flesh exploded within the insect swarm.

Several low-level insect beasts were instantly torn apart and exploded, their bodies pulverized.

” This bunch of damn lowly creatures, they really have no brains at all!! ”

An old soldier cursed. Those bugs only had eyes for their targets and were completely fearless of death. When teammates died, they charged one after another. Some bugs even ate the green liquid that exploded from their teammates.

Swarms could evolve by devouring each other, but generally, they wouldn’t cannibalize unless forced.

That was because higher-intelligence individuals were managing their instincts.

” Take out their leader. Without the backbone, the rest of the swarm will fall into chaos. ”

” Concentrate fire! ”

Bang bang bang bang bang!

Various energy bullets, metal Medicinal Pills, and ray guns bombarded the vanguard.

However, this time, the Zerg vanguard’s carapace seemed tougher than any Zerg elite they had encountered before!

” Damn it, how is it so hard! It’s practically a mobile steel fortress! ”

Ordinary energy weapons hitting its dark purple carapace only sparked brilliantly but struggled to cause substantial damage.

” Damn it! Try this! ”

The heavy-duty mech lifted a six-barreled, shoulder-mounted rocket launcher and fired an armor-piercing shell.

It only made its massive body sway slightly, leaving some cracks and dents on the carapace.

” Damn! How are these guys’ shells so hard? Have the swarms evolved again? Isn’t their Mother Empress in a deep sleep! ”

A heavy-duty mech soldier cursed angrily.

Seeing a smaller-sized Zergling break through the fire net at high speed, its sharp limbs slashed fiercely toward his cockpit.

” Holy crap! It’s over! ”

Just at this moment, that figure who always appeared in time, appeared again.

” Watch out! ”

In the moment of crisis, a blue figure flashed like a beam of light.

Lin Fei appeared in front of the heavy-duty mech.

He threw a whip kick.

” Great Ice Monument Breaking Kick! ”

A giant blue footprint, condensed from extreme cold ice Qi, appeared out of thin air, carrying biting cold wind, striking the Zergling first despite being launched later.

It kicked the Zergling fiercely.

After mastering the skill, Lin Fei could even use his foot to perform the Monument Breaking Hand.

This was quite easy to understand.

After all, it was a palm technique!

” The sole of the foot is also a palm. ” Lin Fei thought to himself.

Crack!

The teeth-aching sound of bone cracking and ice shattering rang out simultaneously.

The Zergling didn’t even have time to scream before it was kicked into a pile of crushed ice and flesh by the giant footprint!

Everyone’s gaze was involuntarily drawn to Lin Fei.

” It’s reinforcements! Reinforcements are here! ”

” Great! It’s an esper, we’re saved! ”

Lin Fei narrowed his eyes. Based on the memory passed down by the System and the basic common sense of this world, he knew that there were two types of human power in this world.

One was the heavy-duty mechs and various mechanical vehicles brought by technological development.

The other was the espers born from researching human genes and Psionic energy.

Lin Fei’s identity as a mage was recognized as an esper here, so he could reasonably display his abilities.

Lin Fei’s performance also attracted the attention of the Zerg.

The Zerg vanguard didn’t care about the death of its companion; its bloodthirsty compound eyes stared greedily at Lin Fei.

Feeling the powerful energy fluctuations radiating from Lin Fei, it became excited, its whole body trembling.

Then, it shook its head and let out a high-pitched, sharp cry.

” Roar!!! Powerful esper! Your flesh must be even more delicious! ”

The Zerg vanguard let out a deafening roar, its massive body rushing toward Lin Fei like a high-speed train.

Several pairs of sharp giant claws turned into a sky full of cold light, tearing through the air, wanting to tear Lin Fei into pieces instantly.

” I think you’ll be even tastier! Once I smash your shell, the inside must be full of protein! ”

Lin Fei said, intending to use a fireball to roast the opponent and eat it.

But only when releasing it did he remember.

He had canceled his Fire-type skills, and now they had become Lightning-type.

A cold glint flashed in Lin Fei’s eyes.

He raised his right hand high, then gripped the air.

Zzzzt!

The power of the Dark Heavenly Thunder within his body surged out without reservation!

” Lightning Spear! ”

Hum—!!!

A twisted black lightning light bloomed in his palm.

Then, it was continuously compressed and condensed, turning into a thunder spear about three meters long, composed entirely of dark gold thunder, emitting a strong aura of destruction.

On the spear, countless fine dark electric snakes scurried crazily, making crackling sounds.

The surrounding air twisted because of this terrifying thunder might!

Without the slightest hesitation, Lin Fei swung his arm fiercely!

Whoosh—!!!

The spear, which had condensed his lightning energy, turned into a dark gold lightning bolt that tore through the Void Realm.

At a speed invisible to the naked eye, it blasted toward the Zerg vanguard!

” Split for me! ” Lin Fei shouted in a low voice!

The small talents in the skill branch, such as Fission, Super Speed, and Pierce, took effect.

The spear exploded in mid-air!

It turned into a hundred slightly smaller dark thunder spears, but they were equally filled with a destructive aura!
