The System Arrives: Leading My Clan to Become the Strongest

92: Chapter 92 First Encounter in the Capital, Sword Pointed at the纨绔 (Wán kù, a spoiled brat)Seeing this, Zhao Kun’s face instantly darkened so much it looked like it could drip water.

He never imagined that a seemingly ordinary ”country bumpkin” could easily force back his carefully trained servants.

”Useless! A bunch of useless trash!”

Zhao Kun cursed angrily, his gaze fixed on Jiang Beiyuan, though a hint of fear flickered in his eyes.

”You—you dare hurt my people? Do you know who I am? My grandfather is a Golden Core True Person!”

”Oh, a Golden Core True Person. So what? Pay for the damages, or don’t even think about leaving.”

Don’t be fooled by the fact that Jiang Beiyuan is the Jiang Family’s Fifth Elder; in terms of age, he is the youngest of the five Elders, only in his twenties. After all, who isn’t young and hot-headed at that age?

If the other party talked big, he could too. Not to mention the other party’s Old Ancestor was merely a Golden Core True Person, while his own Clan Chief was a Nascent Soul Ancestor. In terms of strength, the other party was a mere small fry.

Zhao Kun’s face turned pale and blue from the retort, his previous arrogance instantly wilting by half, yet he still stubbornly held his ground verbally.

”How can the dignity of a Golden Core True Person be profaned by a rural Cultivator like you? Pay? My Zhao Family has plenty of Spirit Stones, but why should we give them to a bunch of bumpkins who crawled out of some unknown corner of the mountains?”

He was completely unfamiliar with Jiang Beiyuan’s group and knew they were visiting the Capital City for the first time, which was why he had been so fearless from the start.

Because he basically knew everyone qualified to participate in the Qingfeng Martial Meet, and as a Golden Core Family from the Capital City, they were naturally superior to Golden Core Families from other cities.

This was why he hadn’t taken them seriously at first, as his Zhao Family was the most powerful Family besides the Huangfu Imperial Family.

Jiang Beiyuan chuckled at those words, his fingers twirling the sword tassel. The blade emitted a clear, crisp hum, and a biting Sword Qi instantly spread out, causing the clothes of the surrounding crowd to flutter loudly.

”On what grounds?”

Jiang Beiyuan stepped forward slowly. With every step, the bluestone slabs on the ground seemed to tremble slightly.

”On the grounds that you hit my people, smashed the vendor’s goods, bullied others using your status, and spoke utter nonsense. And most importantly, on the grounds that I am stronger than you. Any problems?”

”You...”

Zhao Kun was intimidated by the coldness in his eyes and subconsciously took half a step back, but then he remembered his grandfather’s status and forced himself to puff out his chest.

”I’m telling you, if you know what’s good for you, get lost! Otherwise, if you offend my Zhao Family, you won’t be able to leave the Capital City. I, Zhao Kun, said so.”

When these words were spoken, the Jiang Family members felt nothing, but the vendor kneeling on the ground couldn’t help but look up, his eyes filled with pleading—direct descendants of a Golden Core Family were not people like them could afford to offend.

Jiang Feng couldn’t help but clench his fists and whispered, ”Fifth Elder, how about...”

”Shut up.”

Jiang Beiyuan didn’t even turn his head, but his voice carried an unquestionable certainty.

”If you still refuse to pay up, forget the Capital City, you won’t even be able to leave this spot.”

Before his voice could fade, he suddenly raised his hand, pointing his longsword directly at the space between Zhao Kun’s eyebrows, his tone calm yet carrying a bone-chilling coldness:

”I’ll ask one last time: will you pay, or not?”

Looking at the sword tip right before his eyes and feeling the Sword Qi that seemed ready to pierce through his soul, Zhao Kun’s legs went weak, and he nearly collapsed. The color drained from his face:

”Don’t... don’t do anything reckless! I... I’ll pay!”

This time he was truly frightened; he hadn’t expected the other party to actually dare to strike.

In the past, as soon as he revealed his identity as a member of the Zhao Family, everyone would bow and scrape. This time, he had actually kicked a steel plate, leaving him not only angry but also terrified.

Trembling, he pulled a coin pouch from his robes and threw it hard onto the ground. The pouch burst open, and white Low-Grade Spirit Stones rolled everywhere—there were over two hundred of them.

”Is this enough?!”

Zhao Kun gritted his teeth, his eyes full of resentment.

”I, Zhao Kun, will remember what happened today! We’ll see about this!”

Jiang Beiyuan ignored him, glanced at the Spirit Stones on the ground, and jerked his chin toward the vendor. ”Count them and see if it’s enough.”

The vendor scrambled up and, after trembling as he counted, nodded repeatedly:

”It’s enough, it’s enough. It’s... it’s even quite a bit more...”

”As long as it’s enough. In that case, we’re done here.”

Jiang Beiyuan’s voice was indifferent as he slightly shifted the tip of his sword.

”Get lost.”

As if granted a grand reprieve, Zhao Kun clutched his chest and scrambled up in a sorry state. He shot a fierce glare at Jiang Beiyuan before slinking through the crowd with his bruised and battered servants.

Jiang Xueqin’s eyes were still red. Looking at the Spirit Stones on the ground, she whispered, ”Fifth Elder, will he...”

”...come back for revenge?”

Jiang Beiyuan finished her sentence and flicked the scabbard with his finger. The clear hum of the sword dispelled the worry on the young girl’s brow.

”The Capital City isn’t the Zhao Family’s private domain. With the Qingfeng Martial Meet approaching, they wouldn’t dare to use force right now.”

Pausing, he looked at the Jiang Family Clan Members and said in a soft tone:

”Besides, if they really want to cause trouble, do you think our Jiang Family is afraid?”

Jiang Xueqin nodded vigorously, the moisture in her eyes gradually fading, replaced by a bright smile:

”Mhm! With the Fifth Elder here, I’m not afraid!”

Jiang Feng curled his lip on the side and leaned in. ”That kid is just a paper tiger. If it really came down to a fight, I could handle him too!”

This remark made the surrounding Jiang Family youths burst into laughter, and the previously tense atmosphere instantly relaxed.

However, there was some credibility to Jiang Feng’s words. They had sparred back at the Jiang Family; he was stronger than them, but not by much. If he were to fight Zhao Kun, it would probably be a fifty-fifty split.

”Alright, we’ve been out long enough. It’s time to head back.”

The Fifth Elder looked at all the trouble that had occurred since they came out and couldn’t help but feel a bit helpless. He had told them not to cause trouble before they left, but who knew that even if they didn’t seek trouble, trouble would find them.

Hearing the Fifth Elder’s words, the previous excitement of the Jiang Family sons vanished without a trace.

In the end, everyone followed the Fifth Elder back to the Royal Villa.

Jingyun Courtyard.

”Don’t go out for a while. The Qingfeng Martial Meet is in a few days, so everyone should prepare well.”

After saying this, Jiang Beiyuan ignored everyone and walked toward Jiang Chen’s room.

”What happened?”

Seeing Jiang Beiyuan arrive in a hurry, Jiang Chen didn’t even lift his gaze, speaking in a steady, unhurried tone.

He had noticed when Jiang Beiyuan led the Clan Members out of the Jingyun Courtyard, but he hadn’t stopped them.

However, he hadn’t expected them to return so soon, and for Jiang Beiyuan to rush to him immediately upon returning. Clearly, something must have happened.

Jiang Beiyuan stopped, cupped his hands in greeting to Jiang Chen, and calmly recounted everything that had happened on the street in detail, from the youngsters being attracted to the porcelain stall to Zhao Kun bumping into someone and bullying them, and then to how he stepped in to force him to pay. He didn’t embellish a single detail.

At the end, he added:

”That Zhao Kun is a direct descendant of a Golden Core Family, with a grandfather who is a Golden Core True Person backing him. The Zhao Family has considerable influence in the Capital City. Offending them this time might plant seeds of trouble for the Qingfeng Martial Meet.”

Only then did Jiang Chen slowly look up, his gaze calm and rippleless. ”A Golden Core True Person? The Zhao Family?”

He repeated softly, a faint curve touching the corner of his mouth as if he found it amusing:

”The families in the Capital City are indeed better at bullying others with their status than those in Tianlin City.”
