Ultimate Series, Past Lives Revealed

85: Wang Dadong is lyingWang Dadong and Arthur Wang found a relatively quiet corner nearby to sit and wait.

As the minutes ticked by, the surrounding air seemed to grow stagnant, and both of them felt a bit bored.

Arthur sat to the side, thinking about the Shakespeare work he hadn’t finished reading at school. He couldn’t help but consider heading back early. ”Hey, Arrogant One, how about I head back first? I’ll just leave you here to keep waiting for Xiaoyu and Jiaqi.”

Hearing this, Wang Dadong quickly reached out and grabbed Arthur, who was about to stand up and leave. He shouted urgently, ”No way! Narcissist, you can’t leave me here alone. If I have to face Xiaoyu by myself, it’ll be super awkward! Every time I see him, I’m worried I’ll accidentally say something wrong.”

Arthur rolled his eyes at the agitated Wang Dadong and replied crossly, ”Don’t you say the wrong thing all the time anyway? What’s there to be embarrassed about? Besides, we only heard noises; it’s not like we saw it with our own eyes.”

Wang Dadong’s eyes widened, and he raised his voice in protest. ”How is that the same? If I actually saw something, with Xiaoyu’s temper, my head would probably take a heavy blow from his Right Fist!”

Arthur shook his head helplessly and sat back down, muttering, ”Fine, fine. I must have owed you in a past life. I’ll stay here and wait with you.”

After a moment of silence, Wang Dadong seemed to think of something and asked, ”Hey, Narcissist, do you think your past life might have some unexpected plot twist? Based on what we found out before, your past life was pretty miserable.”

Arthur was quite speechless at the question and replied with a frown, ”Please, I don’t even have memories of my past life. How would I know if you ask me that?”

Wang Dadong wouldn’t let it go and continued to press him, ”Oh, come on, just take a wild guess! You might get it right.”

Arthur ignored Wang Dadong’s urging. ”I’m not guessing!”

Wang Dadong persisted, ”Then who do you think will be drawn next?”

Arthur crossed his arms and thought for a while before saying, ”Hmm... based on the current drawing pattern, it should be the turn of a character from the Iron Time Dimension next.”

Just as Arthur finished speaking, a crisp and rapid ringtone suddenly sounded. It was Wang Dadong’s phone.

He quickly pulled out his phone and frowned as he looked at the screen. ”Oh no, it’s a call from Teacher Tian Xin! Is she calling to rush us? What should I do? What on earth am I supposed to tell her?”

Standing nearby, Arthur spoke calmly, ”Just tell her we’re at Xiaoyu’s house, buried in our studies.”

Hearing this, a look of difficulty appeared on Wang Dadong’s face as he muttered, ”But we didn’t even bring a single book! If the teacher asks, won’t we be exposed?”

Arthur crossed his arms and shrugged indifferently. ”Then figure it out yourself. I’ve already given you an idea.”

At this moment, Wang Dadong held the incessantly ringing phone, his heart racing like fifteen buckets in a well—at sixes and sevens.

After much hesitation, he finally decided to press the answer button and tried to make his voice sound calm and composed. ”Hello, Teacher!”

Then, bracing himself, Wang Dadong followed the excuse Arthur had taught him and explained to Teacher Tian Xin, ”Uh... well, Teacher, we’re currently studying hard at Xiaoyu’s house. Besides, Xiaoyu has a lot of relevant books here for us to reference and read.”

After receiving a response from Teacher Tian Xin, Wang Dadong quickly added, ”Please don’t worry, Teacher! We’ll definitely work twice as hard and study well!”

The corners of Arthur’s mouth curled up into a disdainful sneer. ”See? That was a pretty good answer!”

His mocking tone immediately made Wang Dadong’s blood boil.

Wang Dadong’s eyes widened as he glared at Arthur, roaring in exasperation, ”Narcissist! You’re making fun of me!” As he spoke, he raised his hand, making a gesture as if to punch Arthur.

However, Wang Dadong soon realized it wasn’t the time to bicker with Arthur. He looked down at his watch and cried out, ”Oh no! The morning is almost over. Let’s hurry up and find Xiaoyu!”

Arthur raised an eyebrow, a mischievous grin appearing on his face as he teased, ”Are you sure they’re already finished ’doing it’?” As soon as he said this, Wang Dadong’s face instantly turned bright red, looking extremely embarrassed.

He stammered, ”I-it’s already this late! Logically, it should have finished long ago. Let’s go, let’s go. It’s better to go check!”

After saying that, he pulled Arthur along as they slowly walked toward Jiaqi and Xiaoyu’s home.

Arriving at the door, the two stopped and pricked up their ears to listen carefully for any movement inside.

After a while, it seemed there was no sound from within. Wang Dadong whispered, ”It seems it really is over. Should we just go in?”

Arthur rolled his eyes and urged, ”Don’t be reckless. Call and ask about the situation first.”

Wang Dadong nodded as if waking from a dream and replied, ”Oh! Right, right, right!” He then hurriedly took out his phone and dialed Xiaoyu’s number.

Meanwhile, inside the room, Xiaoyu was gently carrying the sleeping Jiaqi back to the bedroom.

He carefully threw the soiled bedsheet onto the floor, then took a brand new sheet from the cabinet and began to change it.

Amazingly, throughout the entire process, Xiaoyu was able to easily complete all the actions while holding Jiaqi with just one hand.

Just as he had carefully placed Jiaqi on the bed to let her rest, his phone suddenly rang.

Without thinking, Xiaoyu reached out and pressed the hang-up button.

Afterward, he picked up the dirty sheet from the floor and walked out of the room. When he checked his phone again, he saw a missed call from Dadong.

At the door, Wang Dadong stared blankly at the disconnected phone in his hand, muttering, ”Narcissist, this guy Xiaoyu actually didn’t pick up! Honestly!”

Standing beside him, Arthur appeared relatively calm. He frowned slightly and said, ”Let’s wait a bit longer.”

Ding Xiaoyu hesitated for a moment but eventually decided to call back.

Once the call connected, he was heard saying, ”Hello, Dadong! Yeah! You’re at the door? Have you been waiting long? I’ll come open the door for you right now.”

With that, Ding Xiaoyu hurriedly straightened the bedsheet and smoothed it down before walking quickly to the door.

When the door opened, Ding Xiaoyu saw Wang Dadong and Arthur Wang standing outside. A look of confusion appeared on his face as he asked, ”Why did you two suddenly come over? Is there something you need?”

Arthur crossed his arms and replied crossly, ”What do you mean? It’s because of you and Jiaqi. You skipped class without a word or asking for leave. Teacher Tian Xin was worried sick and specifically sent this Arrogant One to find you!”

Wang Dadong quickly chimed in, ”Exactly, Xiaoyu. You can’t do this next time. No matter what, you should ask the teacher for leave first!”

Just then, Wang Dadong seemed to suddenly catch a strange scent. He sniffed hard and muttered to himself, ”Huh? What’s this smell? It’s so strange...” As he spoke, he began to look around for the source of the odor.

At that moment, Arthur suddenly caught sight of the somewhat messy bedsheet. His heart tightened, and he hurriedly reached out to grab Wang Dadong, who was about to speak, casting him a highly suggestive look.

Wang Dadong was completely baffled by Arthur’s sudden move. He looked where Arthur was pointing with a face full of confusion, murmuring, ”The bedsheet? What about it?”

Ding Xiaoyu also suddenly remembered the bedsheet as if waking from a dream. With ears turning red, he blurted out without thinking, ”T-this bedsheet really hasn’t been washed in a long time, so that’s why it has such a strong smell!”

Hearing this, Arthur and Wang Dadong couldn’t help but exchange looks. The two of them stared straight at Ding Xiaoyu, as if they couldn’t believe their ears.

They knew very well in their hearts that if they hadn’t heard those indescribable sounds coming from the room, they would have believed Xiaoyu as they watched him lie through his teeth so calmly!

After saying this, Ding Xiaoyu also realized it was a bit awkward. His ears instantly turned bright red, like ripe apples.

To prevent the situation from becoming even more deadlocked, he quickly picked up the smelly bedsheet and headed toward the laundry room without looking back.
