Ultimate Series, Past Lives Revealed

78: DecideThe next morning, sunlight filtered through the gaps in the curtains and spilled into the room. Xiu emerged from the Time-Space Gate carrying the Yehenara Family’s three ballads of demon suppression and teleported toward Arthur Wang’s house.

At this time, back at home, Hao Jiaqi and Xiaoyu were still immersed in sweet dreams, lying comfortably in bed.

Suddenly, a sharp ring from a mobile phone broke the silence in the room.

Relying on instinct, Hao Jiaqi quickly reached out to grab the phone on the nightstand, her movements a small step faster than Xiaoyu’s. She answered the call groggily, her voice slightly raspy: ”Hello, what’s up?”

In the living room of Arthur Wang’s house on the other side, Wang Dadong was momentarily stunned upon hearing this voice, but he understood the reason instantly.

The corners of his mouth curled up slightly into an ambiguous smile as he said softly into the phone, ”How about you two keep sleeping? I’ll tell you the plan after the Narcissist and I have finished discussing it.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Arthur Wang, Xiu, and the others present were stunned, and a hint of embarrassment surfaced on their faces.

Xiu, in particular, appeared somewhat uneasy and hurriedly said, ”Um... let’s continue talking about the three ballads of demon suppression.”

Meanwhile, on Hao Jiaqi’s end, it took her quite a while to snap back to her senses after the call was hung up.

Her eyes widened as she turned to look at Xiaoyu beside her, her face flushing red as she asked, ”Xiaoyu, do they already know about us?”

Ding Xiaoyu looked at Jiaqi with a teasing expression and replied with a smile, ”Actually, they knew a long time ago.”

Upon hearing this, Hao Jiaqi’s face grew even redder, like a ripe apple. She playfully punched Xiaoyu’s shoulder and complained, ”Oh, but this feels completely different! It’s so embarrassing! Hurry up and get out of bed!”

With that, the two of them messed around in bed for a while longer before hurriedly getting dressed, finishing their washing, and rushing off to Arthur Wang’s house.

When Ding Xiaoyu and Hao Jiaqi finally arrived at Arthur Wang’s house, they found everyone already sitting together, engaged in a heated discussion.

Seeing them enter, everyone cast ambiguous and teasing glances their way, making even the thick-skinned Hao Jiaqi wish she could find a hole to crawl into.

Seeing this, Hao Jiaqi hurriedly changed the subject: ”Um... where’s the thing?” As she spoke, her eyes unconsciously scanned the surroundings as if looking for some important item.

Arthur Wang understood and took up Jiaqi’s lead, explaining, ”Xiu brought the three ballads of demon suppression from the Iron Time Dimension’s Ye He Na La Family this time.” His voice was steady and powerful, as if these three ballads of demon suppression held extraordinary power.

Hearing this news, Ding Xiaoyu couldn’t help but ask curiously, ”The three ballads of demon suppression? Does it mean we assist in battle by playing music?” He frowned slightly, lost in thought.

Wang Dadong, standing to the side, patted his chest with confidence and said, ”In this place, it seems only Xiaoyu and I are qualified for this task, right?” His words revealed an Aura of ’who else but me’.

However, Arthur Wang poured cold water on him without mercy: ”Arrogant One, don’t be too conceited. Do you really think your musical level can compare to Xiaoyu’s?” These words were like a sharp sword piercing Wang Dadong’s heart.

Wang Dadong’s face instantly turned bright red, and he retorted somewhat indignantly, ”I may not be as good as Xiaoyu, but at least I can read a music score!” Although he refused to admit defeat, he was well aware of the gap between himself and Xiaoyu.

At this moment, Xiu stepped in to smooth things over: ”Dadong, don’t be in a hurry. These three ballads of demon suppression cannot be played by just anyone; one must have a certain level of musical attainment, otherwise accidents can easily occur.” He looked at Wang Dadong seriously, hoping he would take it seriously.

Wang Dadong remained stubborn: ”Hmph, I’m also very capable, okay!” However, from his expression, it was clear he cared at least a little about what Xiu had said.

Seeing the endless arguing, Hao Jiaqi couldn’t help but interject: ”So what exactly do these three ballads of demon suppression include?” She blinked her large eyes, looking at Xiu with anticipation.

Xiu took a deep breath and said slowly, ”The three ballads of demon suppression are the Soul Soothing Melody, the soul searching ballad, and the Soul Cleansing Ballad. Each piece contains powerful magic, and only those proficient in the laws of music can master them.” As he spoke, his gaze swept over everyone present.

[The function of the Soul Cleansing Ballad is to help an Ability User or Muggle wash away the demonic nature bestowed upon them by a demon, though the Special Ability of an Ability User who has been cleansed will differ from their original attribute before they were controlled. The soul searching ballad is one of the three ballads of demon suppression owned by the Ye He Na La Family; legend has it that playing the soul searching ballad can bring someone back from the dead, but the lead performer must possess a powerful Special Ability and remain focused. If lured by the demonic melody, they will suffer a backlash, and the performer’s Soul will be sucked into the music score, imprisoned forever.]

[The soul searching ballad can bring people back to life, but the lead performer must possess a powerful Special Ability and maintain focus, otherwise they may suffer a backlash.]

[The Soul Soothing Melody, on the other hand, helps those who have had their demonic nature washed away to soothe their wounded body and mind within twenty-four hours after the Soul Cleansing Ballad is played, and restores their Soul memories and martial arts from before they were demonized.]

Hao Jiaqi said with an amazed expression, ”These pieces are truly miraculous! Who would have thought they would appear within a demonic family? It’s truly a pity!” Beside her, Ding Xiaoyu nodded slightly in agreement and then asked, ”So, all we need is the Soul Cleansing Ballad, right?” Arthur Wang answered without hesitation, ”Naturally. The purpose of our operation is to completely eliminate that great Devil Head, Black Dragon.”

At this point, Ding Xiaoyu volunteered: ”In that case, why don’t you let me play the Soul Cleansing Ballad?”

Hao Jiaqi quickly raised her hand to offer her suggestion: ”I actually have a good proposal. Why not let the students of Class One get involved too? They can transfer their own power to Xiaoyu, so that when he plays the Soul Cleansing Ballad, it can exert even greater power. Meanwhile, Dadong, Arthur, and I will be responsible for dealing with that fellow Black Dragon.”

However, Wang Dadong frowned, clearly not in favor of the idea. He retorted, ”I don’t think it’s necessary for the students of Class One to get involved. After all, their strength is relatively low; they might not only be unable to help but could even fall into danger.”

Ding Xiaoyu looked at Dadong and said seriously, ”Dadong, why don’t you ask everyone’s opinion first? Perhaps they are very willing to contribute a part of their strength to this battle.”

Just then, the previously silent Xiu suddenly spoke up: ”Everyone, this is a Battle between Good and Evil for your Gold Time Dimension! Moreover, the impact of this war goes far beyond that; it even concerns the survival of the entire Twelve Time Spaces. Now, only our Gold Time Dimension and Iron Time Dimension are left among the Twelve Time Spaces. If the Gold Time Dimension unfortunately loses, the remaining Iron Time Dimension will become isolated and helpless; if even the Iron Time Dimension eventually loses this contest, then all of us who are Ability Users will lose our lives in an instant and go to the Yellow Springs.”

Everyone present was like they had been hit by a freezing spell, completely stunned into silence by Xiu’s words.

Wang Dadong’s eyes widened, his mouth hung open, and he asked stutteringly, ”Is... is that for real? That’s too exaggerated!”

Xiu nodded with a solemn face and said in a heavy tone, ”The other dimensions have now been entirely occupied by demons, and only a small number of Ability Users remain in those places, struggling bitterly just to survive.”

Hearing this, Arthur Wang clenched his fist tightly and said through gritted teeth, ”Then this time, no matter what, we absolutely cannot lose!”

Wang Dadong and Ding Xiaoyu also nodded forcefully in agreement: ”That’s right, we absolutely cannot lose!”

At that moment, Ding Xiaoyu subconsciously turned to look at Jiaqi standing beside him, thinking to himself: Because in this dimension, there is the person I deeply love! Therefore, no matter how powerful the enemy we face, I must go all out to protect everything here.

Right then, Hao Jiaqi seemed to suddenly remember something and hurriedly said to Arthur Wang, ”Arthur, remember to keep Cai Wuxiong far away from you that day, because the bear pearl inside her body can restrain demonic creatures. On that day, we will be engaging in a life-and-death duel with Black Dragon, and besides Black Dragon himself, he has also created a group of extremely powerful Martial Corpses. If Cai Wuxiong accidentally gets too close during the battle, I’m worried the bear pearl will fly out of her body uncontrollably. After all, that bear pearl is a vital thing for her!”

Arthur Wang nodded after hearing this and replied, ”Don’t worry, Jiaqi. On that day, I will speak with her sister Cai Yunhan in advance to make sure she keeps Cai Wuxiong at a safe distance.”
