Ultimate Series, Past Lives Revealed

68: Ouyang Mo knew[The next morning, when the first ray of sunlight spilled onto the soft bed through the window lattice, Consort Rou slowly woke up.]

[She moved her body slightly and immediately felt sore all over, especially those ambiguous marks, which made her face flush with shame.]

[Recalling the passionate time spent with the Emperor last night, Consort Rou couldn’t help but feel a hint of grievance in her heart.]

[The Emperor was truly too overbearing; he actually treated her so ruthlessly.]

[Moreover, what puzzled Consort Rou was why the Emperor was so afraid of Prince Mo seeing her true face?]

[What kind of secret was hidden in this? And that Prince Mo’s attitude was also very strange, having tried to peek at her face twice.]

[Hao Jiaqi: She has a bit of a brain.]

[Sun Shang Xiang from Silver Space: I don’t understand who she actually likes? Even if she lost her memory, a person’s feelings wouldn’t change just because they lost their memory, right?]

[Although Emperor had not said it explicitly, how could someone as clever as Consort Rou not know that her current face was her true appearance?]

[After all, although she had lost her memory, it didn’t mean she had become a fool! Could it be that the Emperor and Prince Mo were both hiding something from her?]

[Sha Jie: I think she’s just putting on an act, hovering between two men; she must have given Emperor the wrong impression herself.]

[Tong Era Xiong Ya: You girls shouldn’t speculate about someone with such malice. Who knows about matters of the heart?]

[At this moment, Emperor, who was in the court, naturally had no way of knowing that his beloved Consort Rou had already become suspicious.]

[On the other side, Prince Mo was also lost in deep thought. The more he recalled the details of his time with Consort Rou, the more he suspected her true identity.]

[Yi Xiaofeng: Prince Mo’s love for his Princess Consort is only so-so. He couldn’t even recognize the lover he spent every day with!]

[He always felt like he had seen this woman somewhere before, but those blurry memories could never be pieced together completely.]

[Finally, after the court session ended, Prince Mo rushed back to his manor and headed straight for the study.]

[As soon as he entered the study, he closed the door tightly behind him and strictly ordered his personal eunuch not to disturb him. Then, he immersed himself at the desk and began to paint.]

[Silver Time-Space Zhang Fei: Is he painting?]

[Jiu Lai from Iron Space: This must be a portrait of Consort Rou.]

[Wood Time-Space: I always feel like the ancients are so amazing, they know so many things, they can even paint portraits!]

[Time passed second by second, and in the blink of an eye, it was already late afternoon, yet Prince Mo still hadn’t stepped out of the study.]

[Seeing that it was getting late, the personal eunuch grew more anxious. Finally, out of desperation, he summoned his courage and knocked gently on the study door: ”Prince, it’s time for dinner!”]

[At this time, Prince Mo in the study had just finished the painting in his hand. He slowly put down the brush, his gaze falling upon the scroll before him. The figure in the painting was lifelike and as beautiful as a Heavenly Immortal—wasn’t that Consort Rou?]

[It was the appearance of Consort Rou wearing a veil that day; that mysterious and hazy beauty was unforgettable.]

[Jin Bao San from Gold Space: Wow! So beautiful, it looks just like her!]

[Tong Era Xiang Ning: Truly amazing, even a camera is only so-so, and he painted it from memory!]

[There was also the face Consort Rou showed everyone during the first-month celebration of the First Prince. Although it was the same person, Prince Mo felt it was different from the face under the veil.]

[Wang Dadong of the Gold Time Dimension: Why have such an intuition? Can a single veil cover a face?]

[Wang Yase: Aren’t you the most familiar with intuition? Arrogant One!]

[Prince Mo pondered with suspicion: ”Why would she disguise herself? What secret is hidden in this?” Just then, a thought flashed through his mind—could the Imperial Younger Brother know the reason? He thought: ”Imperial Younger Brother, do you know why Consort Rou is acting like this?”]

[Silver Time-Space Zhang Fei: I’m really fed up, he actually still doesn’t suspect his own brother.]

[Guan Yu of the Silver Time-Space: One can only say the older brother loves the younger brother, but the younger brother betrayed the older brother’s trust!]

[Unable to contain his curiosity and unease, Prince Mo inexplicably took out the portrait of his own wife.]

[When he slowly unfurled this scroll and compared it with the portrait of Consort Rou he had just painted, he recoiled as if struck by lightning, his face showing a look of unbelievable horror. His wife and Consort Rou were so similar that, except for the face covered by the veil, they were practically carved from the same mold!]

[Ye Siren from the Iron Universe: It should have been like this long ago. I always feel like the ancients are face-blind, unable to recognize people they are familiar with!]

[”No... impossible! How can this be true? This is just a coincidence. The Imperial Younger Brother could never deceive me, let alone steal my wife!” Prince Mo shook his head desperately, trying to convince himself it was just a misunderstanding. But no matter what, the facts were before him, and he had no choice but to believe.]

[Iron Time-Space A Kou: Oho! The cruel truth is revealed!]

[Jiu Wu of the Iron Time Dimension: What a show of two brothers fighting over one woman!]

[Calming down a bit and recalling everything from the past, Ouyang Mo suddenly understood.]

[It turned out that previously, Consort Rou had left the palace many times under the pretext of accompanying the Imperial Younger Brother and often came to find him.]

[At that time, he didn’t understand why, but thinking about it now, she was clearly using the Imperial Younger Brother’s name to meet him! All the mysteries were solved in an instant, but what followed was endless pain and anger.]

[”Why? Rou’er, how could you do this to me? Why did you betray the vow between us!” Ouyang Mo shouted at the sky, his voice echoing through the clouds as if to vent all the grief and indignation in his heart. However, the only response was the heartless wind and the empty study, leaving him to struggle alone in despair.]

[Xia Mei: It’s clearly his brother’s fault, why isn’t he cursing his brother?]

[Tong Era Xiong Ya: He has suspicions, he just doesn’t want to suspect him. After all, they are biological brothers!]

[The personal eunuch outside was startled by the sudden sound from inside. His heart tightened, and he quickly shouted again: ”Prince, what is wrong with you? It’s time for dinner!” After a long while, there was a ”creak” as the tightly closed door of the study was slowly opened. Ouyang Mo stood at the door expressionless, his eyes hollow and listless, as if he had lost all focus.]

[A Meng of the Silver Time Dimension: Why not go and confront those two?]

[Wang Yase: Confrontation? Where’s the evidence? Consort Rou hasn’t recovered her memory. Even if the Emperor admits it, what can a prince like Ouyang Mo do?]

[”Come in,” Ouyang Mo said weakly. Chief Steward Lin stepped inside cautiously. When he saw the Prince’s current state, a surge of worry rose in his heart.]

[”Prince, what is wrong with you? Are you feeling unwell?” Chief Steward Lin asked with concern. However, Ouyang Mo didn’t seem to hear him, just sitting blankly in the chair, motionless.]

[Chief Steward Lin saw this and turned his gaze to the scroll on the desk. He looked closely and couldn’t help but say: ”Prince, are you perhaps missing the Princess Consort? Should I have this painting framed? I’m sure the Princess Consort will be found soon.”]

[Prince Mo’s body trembled violently upon hearing this. He looked up and stared straight at Chief Steward Lin, his eyes full of surprise and doubt. He asked: ”How did you know I was painting the Princess Consort?”]

[Illusion Time-Space: Truly laughable, he’s not even as familiar with his own Princess Consort as a eunuch!]

[Wood Time-Space: So, just how much love does Prince Mo have for the Princess Consort?]

[Chief Steward Lin was also slightly stunned, but then explained: ”The person in this painting, even with a veil, is clearly the Princess Consort based on the silhouette. Moreover, although the face of the person next to it has changed, in my humble opinion, it should also be the Princess Consort.”]

[After hearing these words, a bitter smile appeared on Ouyang Mo’s face, followed by louder and louder laughter, which eventually turned into a heart-wrenching wild laugh. ”Hahahaha... I actually couldn’t even recognize my own Princess Consort? I am a complete fool! Hehehe...” His laughter was full of pain and despair, making anyone who heard it feel sorrowful.]

[Wang Dadong of the Gold Time Dimension: So pitiful! Waaa---]

[Wang Yase: Arrogant One, you look hideous.]

[Iron Time Dimension Xia Liu: What’s there to sympathize with? It’s just his own stupidity.]

[Looking at the Prince’s painful appearance, Chief Steward Lin’s eyes gradually moistened. He really couldn’t bear to see the Prince torture himself like this, so he softly consoled: ”Prince, please take care of your health; do not be too sad.”]
