Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 489: 100 Consecutive Hits

A few minutes had quickly gone by since the Warden was shackled down by the Searing Chains effect.

Its health points had dropped below half percentage, but Xu Feng and Flint didnʼt seem to show any intention of stopping.

Despite their desire to continue this ideal position in their offense, the chains latching on the Warden finally show signs of cracking.

Clearly, that was the limit of how far his Searing Chains could go.

ʼA little bit over 1 minute despite the desired condition eh.ʼ Xu Feng thought to himself, not feeling so bad at how long the Searing Chains had lasted despite not upgrading it besides that one skill point in the skill tree.

Usually, 30 seconds duration was already the best possible outcome, but it probably lasted longer due to Flintʼs clever utilization and timing of his skills in disabling the Warden.

Flint was like a natural when it came to fighting, with extreme perception and foresight.

At this moment, Xu Feng finally saw that his mana had effectively run out from the constant casting without pause. The damnable passive Mana Drain Aura of the Warden was really something else.

Without any mana left, Xu Feng could only cast a few spells that had zero requirements of mana, but those didnʼt even contribute much.

Retreating was no longer an option, given the Warden would soon realize it could no longer stay as a stationary turret to deal with him.

Thus, the moment it broke through the chains, it would swiftly confront Xu Feng regardless of any damage taken in the process.

”Flint, cover for me on the side.” Xu Feng quickly instructed when he saw one of the chains finally cracked and broken through by the Warden.

CRACKLED!

Like a domino effect, as soon as one chain broke, the rest soon followed suit, and the Warden regained its mobility.

Sure enough, it started to morph its stone arm into a long lance, seemingly trying to swat Flint away from them.

At this moment, Flint was like a nuisance pest, constantly buzzing around in the air.

Thankfully, Flint managed to avoid being swatted away due to Xu Fengʼs timely instruction.

In terms of speed and attack speed, the Warden was superior to Flint. Hence, Xu Feng wouldnʼt allow Flint to be the bait or the tank. That wasnʼt Flintʼs job, but his.

While Flint floated slightly away from the battlefield, Xu Feng also stepped forward, choosing to face the Warden head-on.

”Close combat, do you dare?” As if afraid of the Warden morphing into some other bullshit type of weaponry, Xu Feng extended his staff and gestured if it dared to fight him in close combat.

Right now, the one in the disadvantageous situation was Xu Feng, who was forced to resort to physical attack with barely any buffs left on him.

In response, the Wardenʼs jagged stone face seemed to twitch before morphing its arm into a similar style as Xu Fengʼs staff.

In the very next second, it leaped toward Xu Feng and wielded its now staff-like stone arm.

Amused, Xu Feng responded equally by wielding his staff and clashing it with the Wardenʼs stone staff.

Normally, people might be calling him crazy to swing his staff as if it were a sword or a lance.

However, his mind was very sane, and he dared to clash against the Warden because this new staff was another one bought from Fiona Forgefire.

The staff attributes itself werenʼt great, but the steel material used in it was good enough to contend against the Wardenʼs stone staff without the need to worry about its durability decreasing after a few bouts.

ʼLetʼs see whose staff is going to falter first.ʼ Xu Feng inwardly sneered, not shying away from his staff being damaged in the process. Weapons were made and meant to be broken after numerous uses anyway.

Only a fool would refrain from using it and putting it on display shelves to show off, albeit with some exceptions such as enticing others to work hard to obtain the shelved weapon.

During the close combat fight, the Warden swung again, faster this time than the first attack, bringing its stone staff down in a heavy arc aimed at Xu Fengʼs shoulder.

Noticing its intention, Xu Feng hurriedly shifted his stance, parrying the strike and using the momentum to counter with a side sweep toward the Wardenʼs lower half.

Unfortunately, the Warden was quick in its response as well, raising its leg to block the attack before spinning its stone staff in a rapid, almost unnatural motion, coming at Xu Feng from the opposite direction.

ʼYouʼre still cheating now?ʼ Filled with disdain, Xu Feng was unsurprised as he practically knew the Warden was going to take advantage of its morphing ability and surreal movement.

Despite knowing so, he barely had time to adjust himself, ducking under the sweeping blow before thrusting his staff upward in a bold strike aimed at the Wardenʼs chest.

The clash of stone against steel rang out again, sending small shards of debris from the Wardenʼs jagged surface as Xu Feng found a small opening.

In this chaotic, back-and-forth exchange of blows, Xu Fengʼs focus never wavered.

Each time the Warden came at him with relentless force, he countered with precise, calculated movements, deflecting the heavy strikes and returning with quick jabs of his own.

Although no buffs were available for him, Xu Fengʼs jab wasnʼt aimed at a random position, but rather its Critical Flesh Points.

By now, with the accumulation of all the Critical Flesh Points that Xu Feng had triggered, the Warden soon realized it was gradually taking more and more damage in each frontal clash.

”Oh, so you finally noticed it?” Xu Feng was amused when he found the Warden taking a step back for once. It had continuously advanced to overwhelm him with its sheer force since the start of the close combat and never backed off once till this moment.

”What a shame that you noticed it a bit too late.” Sneering, Xu Feng activated Phantom Step, instantly closing the distance, and swung his staff at another Critical Flesh Point.
