Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 488: Man Down

Having figured out the turning point of his current predicament, Xu Feng gave a small instruction for Flint on when to begin the operation.

”Flint, when I signaled the go, you will use Earthquake Stomp to disrupt that cheating Warden and follow up with a Burrow to surprise attack it, okay?” Xu Feng whispered to Flint, who nodded joyfully in response.

The communication between them might be weird, but as long as they could understand each other, that was all that mattered.

Very soon, Flint hovered to the other end of the stone wall, patiently waiting for Xu Feng to signal for him to act.

Meanwhile, Xu Fengʼs eyes continued to scope through the small gap of the wall. He needed to time the counterattack well, otherwise, it was just going to be wasted.

And that was his mistake from earlier. He thought that he could simply bait the Warden out to another direction and then swiftly retreat to the group in time.

However, this sneaky Warden was far trickier and more sinister than he assumed.

Till now, its objective wasnʼt trying to kill him, afraid of the possibility of him escaping through some gaps.

Therefore, it decided to become a stationary turret and pin him down, preventing him from being able to return to his teammates to provide buff or heal for them.

It was truly a detestable and disgusting move, but one that Xu Feng couldnʼt argue or hate against. After all, such devious tactics would be employed by him without any hesitation if the tables were turned.

As Xu Feng eyed the Warden and its strained movement, he finally spotted the opportunity he had been waiting for. The Warden was starting to show signs of being unable to handle its barrage of shots.

Additionally, the suction nearby its vicinity had been drained of ammunition, prompting it incapable of replaying its earlier ferociousness.

Although the Warden continued to fire its bullet to give a false sense of their unlimited supply of ammo to Xu Feng, it slowly tried to transform the Chainsword leg to its original state.

Most likely, it wanted to start walking and change its position to another area filled with debris and stone that were capable of refueling its ammunition.

However, that was precisely the moment Xu Feng sought— its morphing phase.

”Now!” Xu Feng gestured his fingers, signaling for Flint to commence the operation.

Upon receiving the signal, Flint chirped merrily as he stomped forcefully on the ground.

The resulting tremor rippled across the battlefield, catching the Warden off guard.

Its already unstable foundation buckled further, as the weakened leg wobbled and struggled to maintain balance. The sudden quake disrupted the Wardenʼs movements, and it staggered, unable to keep steady.

For just a few precious seconds, the Warden was left completely vulnerable, unable to fire or reposition itself as it fought to regain control.

Taking advantage of the situation, Flint quickly followed up with a Burrow to the ground, whereas Xu Feng emerged from the stone wall and activated Phantom Step.

Quickly closing the distance, Xu Feng unleashed Searing Chains, hoping to lock the Warden in its place.

Searing Chain was a skill that enabled him to shackle his opponent in place, but the requirement of actually successfully working and ensuring the opponent got shackled was extremely tedious.

It had numerous factors that Xu Feng needed to pay attention to, with the two main aspects being his targetʼs positioning and tenacity.

If the position wasnʼt ideal or open enough for the chains to latch on, then it would be incomplete.

As for the tenacity, it meant how long the target could remain in a shackle state until they could break free. The higher their tenacity, the quicker they could free themselves, rendering the chains useless.

To summarize, the skill was really niche, and most of the time, it was used to stall for a few seconds. Hence, Xu Feng rarely used such a skill until now, when all prime conditions were met.

Shortly after the skill was activated, glowing red glyphs formed beneath the Warden, crackling with heat. With a sharp motion, fiery chains erupted from the ground, snaking toward the Warden like living serpents.

The molten chains wrapped themselves around the Wardenʼs stone legs and torso, their searing heat causing steam to rise from where they touched the cold stone surface.

The Warden grunted in displeasure and attempted to move, but the chains constricted tighter, pulling it back down with a fiery snap. It attempted to brute force the chain to free itself, but this action only backfired them further.

”Hmph, did you seriously think you are capable of freeing yourself now?” Xu Feng snickered coldly in response.

As each link of the chain glowed brighter that bound the Wardenʼs jagged limbs, preventing any further movement.

The almighty Gatling-gun-type Warden stood immobilized, similar to its stationary state, but the difference here now, was its green eyes flaring in frustration as it struggled against the molten shackles holding it in place.

The red glow of Searing Chains pulsated rhythmically, casting flickering shadows across the battlefield, while the intense heat caused the air around them to shimmer.

While the Warden glared frustratingly at Xu Feng, the latter remained expressionless behind his mask.

He conjured a powerful surge of spells through his staff: Judgment Ray.

A second later, Xu Feng channeled a beam of concentrated light energy that pierced through the Wardenʼs stone structure, namely their Critical Flesh Point, dealing big holy damage to it in the process.

Following up from the attack was Flint, who emerged from the ground beneath and struck at the opening gap that Xu Feng had pierced through.

BOOM!

The collective force and coordination of these two dealt a devastating blow to the Warden. Unfortunately, it might be considered a man down in this state, but Xu Feng knew fairly well that it was far from enough to kill the Warden.

Its disgusting high attributes and health points were truly something any player would frown upon when fighting against.

”Letʼs continue the offense.” Xu Feng exclaimed, instructing Flint to continue without pause until the Searing Chainsʼ duration reached its limit or the Warden broke through it.
