Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 284: Colosseum

At the end of the first trial, Xu Fengʼs health and mana recovered to the maximum by the system.

Despite this, he didnʼt rush ahead to start the next trial.

Instead, he began to ponder the type of enemy that he would face.

ʼIf this has something to do with Arcane, then following the lore, it should be someone like an Arcane Knight or Arcane Mage.ʼ He knitted his brows.

It would be better if it was the former, given he could kite them.

Kiting was a popular strategy in gaming that involved keeping a safe distance from enemies while continuously attacking them.

This technique was widely used, especially when they were weaker than the opponent. After all, this was to chip down their opponentʼs health as much as possible while remaining safe.

Hence, Xu Feng prayed it was an Arcane Knight, given they were melee range, and he could easily kite the crap out of them.

However, an Arcane Mage would be a completely different story. Not only were their offensive abilities stronger than him, but they were also long-range.

There was literally no way of him winning against them unless he took it to melee range and attempted a physical fight.

ʼSigh, no point in thinking too much.ʼ He took a deep breath and clicked ”yes”, activating the final trial.

Shortly after activating it, the trial field changed once again— this time in a Colosseum arena type of field.

”How cliche…” Xu Feng mumbled, finding this type of battlefield to be familiar.

Why canʼt one-on-one battles be set in an open field or something that involves environmental disruption?

Who made it that a one-on-one fight must be set in the arena with next to little space to maneuver. This was just a cheap design to showcase who had better skills and movements.

However, would a real war ever have people promptly deciding to do a fair battle in a fixed space?

ʼPlease donʼt be an Arcane Mage!ʼ Xu Feng prayed inwardly as he stepped onto the arena field, waiting for the system to generate his opponent.

Another few seconds went by, and the opponent was finally generated with a flash of light shrouding them.

Once the light dissipated, Xu Feng got a clearer look at his opponent.

”Of course, itʼs a Mage.” He twitched his mouth, almost as if he expected the cruelty of the system to give him the worst opponent possible.

The only blessing was that it seemed to be a regular mage and not an arcane mage. Otherwise, his theory of someone being manipulated behind the scenes would seem more likely to be true.

Naturally, it could just be that manipulator realizing it canʼt be too obvious and purposely chose a regular mage instead of an Arcane one.

However, no matter the process, it was beneficial for Xu Feng that he wasnʼt required to fight against a tough opponent.

As the Mage spotted Xu Feng, it got ready for its battle stance, waving its staff around, almost as if it wanted to warn Xu Feng to take it seriously.

”Whatʼs it level?” Xu Feng inspected his opponentʼs stats, only to realize it was at level 20.

”...”

The disparity between the two was insanely large, and Xu Feng almost wondered if the system wanted him to fail.

System: You have 5 minutes to defeat your opponent! You have three chances to attempt the trial!

Once again, the heartless system prompt appeared in large, warning him he only had 3 opportunities and 5 minutes of time limit to defeat his opponent.

ʼThe system must have detected the remaining scrolls on my hand.ʼ He cursed silently, having noticed the system wasnʼt determining his attributes and levels alone, but also the items in his inventory.

It was no wonder why there were no restrictions being imposed when he used external items to assist him.

Everything was within the systemʼs calculation.

”Ugh, whatever, itʼs not like a mage is impossible to defeat anyway.” Xu Feng adjusted his glasses and got into his battle stance.

Soon, the countdown commenced.

3…2…1…

Upon the countdown hitting 0, Xu Feng instantly cast Sacred Fire to disrupt the mage from fighting, followed by a quick summoning with Dark Pact.

Having done all that, he continued buffing the Abyssal Phantom and prepared to retrieve offensive scrolls.

In a battle like this, the faster he reacted, the higher the possibility of winning was. After all, by ensuring your opponent had no time to respond or caused them to waver in which actions to use, you would already be ahead by at least 3 steps.

Just when Xu Feng retrieved an offensive scroll, he suddenly realized the arena had turned extremely cold. His movement also slowed down tremendously, with his flesh nearly getting frostbite.

”This is insane.” At this moment, Xu Feng would be a fool to not realize the opponent had just unleashed a devastating Area of Effect field, turning the arena to its advantage.

With the chilling environment, Xu Feng realized the mage specialized in Ice or somewhat related to coldness.

A status ailment also appeared on his screen, stating that he was affected by the cold and his movement slowed down by 30%. Additionally, his spellʼs effect would be decreased by 10%, with the opposite element going as far as 40%.

In other words, his Sacred Fire was rendered useless. Not to mention, the scroll that Xu Feng planned to use was also inapplicable.

ʼWhat kind of countering is this?ʼ Xu Feng questioned silently, putting away the Tier 1 Scroll of Meteor Shower. Originally, with the activation of Meteor Shower, his opponent would have no chance of escaping, resulting in an easy win for him.

Yet everything turned to naught because of one AoE field unleashed by his opponent.

The Meteor Shower was of flame element, so in a field filled with coldness, the effect couldnʼt be any more obvious.

It would be quenched before it could even make an impact.

Right at this moment, the Abyssal Phantom he summoned also got one shot by the opponent.

”Yep, sounds about right.” He mumbled, seeing the spell had a piercing effect and coming straight at him after destroying the Abyssal Phantom.
