Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 281: Arcane Trial

As he was shrouded in a shimmering light, blinding his sight, and forcing him to close them shut. Xu Feng could sense he was being transferred somewhere else.

ʼHow many times are we going to transfer from one area to another?ʼ Xu Feng wondered silently, feeling annoyed by the systematic design.

From the empty cave, they are transported to a special dimension plane.

Following afterward was to the Arcane Vein, but before he could even reap the rewards, he was forced to undergo a trial to be granted access.

What made it worse was that the system was practically teasing and taunting him, labeling him as a brave fool.

If possible, Xu Feng also didnʼt want to undergo the trial, but he needed to upon the contract agreement established with Manager Howard, who acted on behalf of the City Magistrate.

Alas, by the time the shimmering light disappeared, Xu Feng slowly opened his eyelid, only to realize he ended up in a somewhat dark and gloomy environment.

System: You have entered the Arcane Trial. The first trial is a survival undead horde mode. The longer you survive, the higher the rewards. However, surviving for less than 5 minutes shall result in failure and a penalty will be imposed. You have 3 chances!

As Xu Feng read the Arcane Trial, he was astonished. ʼSo this is the infamous Arcane Trial that was spread across back then. It actually originated from Star Falls City.ʼ

In his past timeline, he had heard about the Arcane Trial, and it was a place where players could hone their skills. However, the difficulty of it was magnificent and was dubbed as the hellish training mode.

Some players got post-traumatic stress disorder upon completing the Arcane Trial, while some were hospitalized from the event. Of course, there were more players that had succeeded and had their combat capability improved tremendously.

The problem was that the Arcane Trialʼs location was kept secret by a collective bunch of First-rate guilds, monopolizing it for their own use.

Back then, he was still a lowly member of the Reaver Guild, so he never got a chance to enter it.

By the time he rose in position, the Arcane Trialʼs effectiveness had also subsided, becoming an old tale.

After all, unlike most games where the trial would remain effective no matter how many entries, the trial in Divine World continuously weakened with each attempt.

Looking at the trial field, Xu Feng didnʼt hurry himself to start the trial.

Instead, he began scouting around and determining where the undead horde would come out from.

A few minutes later, he finished calculating and realized why the trial had sent so many into a traumatic disorder.

”A total of 12 openings and who knows how many of them are going to come out each time.” He furrowed his brows, his expression somewhat complicated.

As a healer, he could naturally survive an enemy wave easily. However, whether or not there would be a status ailment in position was hard to say.

Additionally, the trial was situated on a flat surface. In other words, there was no place to hide or use furniture as cover.

”It seems like I must really try hard.” Xu Feng adjusted his glasses, creating a sharp glint as he was ready to start the trial. To his surprise though, there were three different categories of difficulty.

The category was separated into Easy, Normal, and Hard Mode.

He paused for a moment and smirked coldly.

”Heh, I love a challenge.” He exclaimed, choosing the Easy Mode without hesitation.

Alas, the system seemed to be teasing him as a new prompt appeared.

System: Due to player Lin Feng being the first challenger, the mode has been altered. Commencing Hell Mode difficulty!

”Fuck, you might as well do that from the start!!” Xu Feng lost his cool and cursed vulgarly.

What was the point of letting him know there were three other difficulty modes in the first place?

Was the system prone to teasing him?

At the same time, Xu Feng felt the agony of regular players who constantly wanted to complain about the game system. This was totally unfair and bullshit!

However, no matter how frustrated he was, the system prompt already went into effect, commencing the Hell Mode difficulty trial.

System: The first trial, hell mode survival of the undead horde has commenced! All health and mana recovery is decreased by 50%.

Instantaneously, numerous growlings began to echo throughout the trial field.

Soon, the undead horde emerged from the openings, their rotting bodies and skeletal frames barely visible in the dim light. Their eyes glowed eerily, cutting through the darkness.

Additionally, the ground was suddenly littered with skeletons and broken weapons, and the soft, shuffling steps of the undead made chilling sounds as they moved.

”What an immersion,” Xu Feng mumbled, having understood the systemʼs devious plan for creating such a realistic and grim situation. Those who are afraid of playing zombie or horror games would definitely faint at the mere sight of this.

It was no wonder why so many were hospitalized.

Nevertheless, he inspected their levels and breathed a sigh of relief.

—

Monster: Grave Fiend (Undying Legion)

Level: 15

Health: 2,000/2,000

Description: The Undying Legion was a formidable force of undead creatures with high health and powerful attacks. They could inflict continuous damage, boost their strength when critically injured, and summon additional minions to aid them in battle. Their eerie presence and relentless assault made them a significant threat.

ʼThese Grave Fiend are classified as undying legion. As expected of a hell-mode difficulty.ʼ Xu Feng had a solemn expression on his face, having realized the severity of the situation.

The only blessing part was their health point being only at 2,000 and not the actual health point of 15,000. However, this was most likely done to balance the numerous Grave Fiends currently advancing at him.

Their movements werenʼt fast, but if Xu Feng allowed them to continuously spawn, he was going to be swarmed sooner or later.
