Dream Capture: I Can See Through All Secrets!

30: 30. Death of Lu DahaiIn the evening, at the entrance of the detention center.

Li Huizhu paced back and forth anxiously, like an ant on a hot pan, constantly peeking inside.

”Why is it taking so long? Why is it taking so long?!”

Just as she was burning with anxiety, Lu Dahai walked out of the detention center, his face dejected as he shook his head at her.

Li Huizhu’s face turned pale, and then she cursed angrily: ”No? Why won’t they let us visit our own daughter? Is there any humanity left?”

Lu Dahai looked back with an unpredictable expression and said bitterly, ”They said that during the case’s trial phase, no one is allowed to visit, not even family members. It’s mandated by law.”

”I don’t care about any law! I only know that my Manwen is suffering in there, my poor Manwen, boo hoo hoo... She’s never endured such hardship... Manwen...”

Li Huizhu’s weeping made Lu Dahai even more agitated. He shouted, ”Let’s talk about it at home!”

When the two returned home, they saw their once warm home now desolate, and a sense of desolation arose in their hearts.

”It’s all that little bastard’s fault! He ruined my Manwen... Boo hoo hoo... You should think of a way, how can we get Manwen out? She must be missing us now...” Li Huizhu cried, covering her face.

Lu Dahai slammed the sofa: ”What way do I have? Big Brother already said it, this matter is very difficult to handle. That little scoundrel has gone too far!”

The more he thought about it, the angrier he got. He grabbed the ashtray from the table and smashed it to the ground, scattering a large number of fragments.

”Damn it, how did such a bastard come out of my Lu family! He’s infuriating me to death!”

He was still not appeased, so he grabbed a wine bottle from the shelf and took a big gulp, choking and coughing.

”Dahai, don’t drink anymore. For Manwen’s sake, let’s think of another way...” Li Huizhu pleaded with a sobbing voice.

”Get out, leave me alone!” Lu Dahai pushed her away, drinking sip after sip, his eyes gradually bloodshot, and his entire demeanor becoming gloomy and deranged.

Li Huizhu was frightened and dared not approach him again.

He drank straight into the deep night. Lu Dahai was already bleary-eyed, still muttering curses: ”Lu Feng... you little beast... you harmed my daughter, and I won’t let you off easy...”

”Lu Zezhou, you consumptive ghost, you deserve to be gravely ill! You deserve it! Why doesn’t heaven take you today...?”

Lu Dahai’s mind was filled with hatred. Finally, he stood up from among the wine bottles, staggered out, and said, ”Since heaven won’t take you all, then I’ll do it myself. I’ll make your whole family accompany me to hell!”

He went downstairs to his car, opened the fuel tank, siphoned out gasoline, then got into the car and drove towards Lu Zezhou’s house.

It was already early morning, and the old neighborhood was silent.

Lu Dahai, in a drunken haze, carried a bottle of gasoline and looked menacingly at Lu Feng’s house, which was completely dark inside.

It was here that his daughter was taken away by the police!

”Beast, since you did such a thing and ruined my family, then no one will have a good time! I’m going to burn you all to death!”

Lu Dahai stumbled up the stairs and arrived at the front door on the third floor. He opened the cap of the glass bottle in his hand, and the pungent smell of gasoline instantly permeated the air, sobering him up a bit.

Lu Dahai sneered as he poured all the gasoline at Lu Feng’s doorstep, tossed the bottle behind him, and squatted down to watch the gasoline flow into the door crack. Only then did he stand up, satisfied.

”Heh heh heh...”

He took out a lighter, lit it with a ”click,” and just as he was about to squat down to ignite it, he felt something wasn’t right. He silently retreated a few steps, preparing to throw it from a distance.

”That was close, I almost got caught myself.”

Just as he said that, his foot suddenly stepped on a glass bottle, and he slipped violently. Lu Dahai screamed, lost his balance, and fell backward.

”Ah ah!”

His vision spun, and in the dim light of the sensor lamp, he suddenly noticed the glass bottle he had just thrown out of the corner of his eye.

It was too late to call for help. Lu Dahai tumbled down the stairs directly.

”Bang! Bang bang bang!”

His head and body violently collided with the stair steps. Accompanied by the sound of a neck fracture, Lu Dahai’s body twisted as he fell at the stair landing and stopped.

Blood gushed from his mouth and nose, and he fell into a coma.

”What’s all the noise in the middle of the night?”

The next-door neighbor pushed open her door, cursing. First, she smelled the pungent odor of gasoline, and then she saw the dead person. Her soul was almost scared out of her, and she quickly took out her phone to call the police.

Before long, ambulances and police cars roared to the scene, taking the unconscious Lu Dahai to the nearest hospital: Nan’an City Health Hospital.

By the time Li Huizhu received the police call and rushed to the hospital in a panic, her world had collapsed.

The doctor’s diagnosis was brain death, and combined with severe injuries, there was no longer any value in treatment.

At the same time, the police information was also very clear: Lu Dahai, due to his daughter Lu Manwen’s situation, harbored hatred towards Lu Feng, intentionally sought revenge, attempted arson unsuccessfully, and accidentally fell down the stairs, leading to brain death.

According to the law, if a criminal suspect dies, the case is withdrawn, and criminal liability is no longer pursued.

Li Huizhu stood dazed in the hospital corridor, on the verge of collapse.

She never expected that in just a few days, her daughter would be sent to prison, and her husband would be brain dead. Their entire family had fallen apart.

”Officer... Officer... Was it... that little beast Lu Feng who did it? His heart is rotten to the core. He must have pushed him down and then faked it as an accident... Yes! It must be like this!”

Li Huizhu grabbed the police officer’s arms, speaking frenziedly.

The police officer frowned. Based on the information currently available, this family indeed had many problems: the younger one committed fraud, the older one committed arson, and now this one wants to falsely accuse someone else?

He said calmly, ”You’re talking about Lu Zezhou’s family, right? They’re not home; it seems they went to the hospital. I was just about to notify them.”

”What? He’s not home?” Li Huizhu couldn’t believe it.

Then... then her husband... going to commit arson in the middle of the night... and falling to his death... What does this... count as?

The police officer walked away on his own, leaving Li Huizhu leaning against the wall, lost in thought.

Just then, the doctor returned and advised, ”You need to prepare; the patient could die at any moment.”

Li Huizhu choked up, ”Is there really no hope? Doctor, can he really not be saved?”

”He can be kept alive in the ICU, but it costs over ten thousand a day. However, it’s only to maintain life. At most two months, he will die of organ failure, and then you’ll lose both the person and the money...”

He paused, then continued, ”Currently, the state has policy support for organ donation. If you agree to donate your husband’s organs, you can receive a subsidy of 150,000.”

These words stunned Li Huizhu, who had lost her anchor.

The doctor’s tone carried a hint of emotion: ”I am also a woman, and I know your difficulties. But I’ve seen too many tragedies in the hospital. The only suggestion I can offer is this. Consider it yourself. After all, the person is already gone. Donating can allow others to live, which is meaningful, and 150,000 can temporarily relieve your financial burden.”
