Dream Capture: I Can See Through All Secrets!

14: 14. Bloody DreamLu Feng successfully passed the two-day exam, completing every detail flawlessly.

When taking the math and physics exams, to ensure everything was perfect, Lu Feng scribbled rough calculations on scratch paper for almost every problem, just to prove he had thought them through.

The same went for English; there were marks on his scratch paper during the listening test. Even if someone were to doubt his scores and retrieve the materials, they wouldn’t find anything unusual.

On the evening of the second day, after the exams ended, Lu Feng walked to the school gate and found Zhou Wenmei waiting for him. Seeing him appear, Zhou Wenmei smiled and asked, ”Xiao Lu, how did it go? You weren’t nervous, were you?”

Lu Feng stretched his slightly sore wrists and smiled, ”I was still a bit nervous, but... it was okay.”

Hearing his confident words, Zhou Wenmei patted his shoulder and comforted him, ”That’s good. Your foundation is already solid. Your score this time isn’t important; the experience is. There’s one more day tomorrow, keep up the good work.”

”Yes! Thank you, Teacher Zhou!”

”You child, it’s a teacher’s duty to help students, no need to be so polite.” Zhou Wenmei ruffled his hair, waved, and bid him farewell.

Under the setting sun, Lu Feng felt a wave of emotion watching Teacher Zhou’s retreating figure.

Meeting such a teacher was truly his good fortune. If Teacher Zhou hadn’t been silently helping him all this time, Lu Feng felt he might have gone astray, just like Zhang Biao.

Walking home, as soon as he entered the door, his parents called him via video.

They knew Lu Feng had recently taken a leave of absence from school to work. They had strongly opposed it at the time, but Lu Feng was already an adult with his own opinions, which left them feeling guilty to this day, believing they had burdened their child.

Lu Xiaoli looked at the thin and dark Lu Feng in the video, her eyes slightly red: ”Son, don’t put too much pressure on yourself. Let’s just take it easy. Your dad and I don’t have any demands; you don’t necessarily have to go to university. We just want you to be safe and sound.”

Lu Zezhou also leaned closer, smiling, ”That’s right, son. You don’t have to worry about your dad’s health; I’m doing great. If it weren’t so far, we would have wanted to bring you flowers after your exams.”

Lu Feng laughed, ”Mom and Dad, your son isn’t that bad. Don’t worry, just wait for my good news.”

The two exchanged bitter smiles, knowing these were just words of comfort. How could their son, working daily on a construction site, possibly keep up with his studies?

”Good, good, good... My son is definitely the best! To be able to help such a large company without a word, your mom and dad are very proud!”

After a brief chat, Lu Feng hung up the phone and started cooking.

However, his mind was busy contemplating: now that he could get into a 985 university, which major would be suitable?

Lu Feng hadn’t planned what he wanted to do in the future, so when he opened the webpage to check Jiangcheng University’s majors, he was dazzled.

Jiangcheng University’s flagship majors included economics, psychology, business administration, computer technology, and more.

If he combined it with his abilities, Lu Feng felt choosing psychology would be more suitable. As a future psychologist, he could legally enter others’ dreams and consciousness, and he would definitely not be the kind of psychologist who just goes through the motions; he could discern any emotional knots.

Failing that, a major in Chinese philosophy, learning about the I Ching and folklore, would also be suitable for future fortune-telling and physiognomy under a bridge, always hitting the mark.

The more he thought, the more Lu Feng couldn’t help but shake his head and laugh, closing the webpage: ”I’ll just wait until the exams are over and consult Teacher Zhou.”

After eating dinner and taking a shower, Lu Feng quickly lay down on the bed. Entering dreams was already a daily routine.

As soon as he arrived in the dream space, Lu Feng noticed a strange yellow bubble very close to him.

This bubble kept moving closer to him, trembling violently, and its color visibly changed from yellow to blood-red. This was the first time Lu Feng had seen a dream bubble change.

”Ding Zhiyuan? Why does that name sound so familiar?”

Lu Feng frowned, leaning closer to examine it, and then realized with a start: ”Isn’t this the school’s security guard uncle??”

Inside the bubble, he was having a furious argument with a woman.

Lu Feng wasn’t that nosy, but seeing that something wasn’t right, he reached out and touched the dream bubble... His vision blurred, and Lu Feng found himself standing in a messy living room, his eyes fixed on the middle-aged woman in front of him, his body trembling with anger.

The middle-aged woman pulled out a court judgment and said coldly, ”Our relationship broke down a long time ago. Since we’re divorced, and the court awarded me half of this house, why are you stopping me from coming in?”

Ding Zhiyuan grabbed a photo album nearby and slammed it to the floor, pointing at the middle-aged woman and cursing, ”Ma Fen, how dare you say that? You cheated on me and made me raise someone else’s child for over a decade, and now you even want to take half of my house? Are you even human?!”

Ma Fen gave him a disdainful look: ”Heh, you good-for-nothing... If you have a problem, take it up with the court. I have a right to this house...”

”Slap!”

Before she could finish, Ding Zhiyuan couldn’t hold back any longer and violently slapped her across the face. Half of Ma Fen’s face immediately swelled up.

”You Ding, you dare to hit me? You good-for-nothing, I’ll beat you to death!” Ma Fen’s eyes widened in fury, and she raised her palm to strike, but Ding Zhiyuan firmly grabbed her wrist, rendering her immobile.

”You... what are you going to do...?”

Because it was a first-person perspective, Lu Feng couldn’t see Ding Zhiyuan’s face clearly, but from Ma Fen’s increasingly terrified eyes, he knew that the man had lost his sanity.

Sure enough, Ding Zhiyuan violently pushed Ma Fen, slamming her hard against the wall, then walked over with immense hatred, grabbed her hair, and repeatedly smashed her head against the wall.

”All these years, I was so good to you, why did you cheat on me! Why?! Are the judges blind? I’m the victim! You cheated on me, why shouldn’t you leave with nothing? Why do you still want my house?! Ahhh! Everyone looks down on me!!”

”Bang bang bang—”

Ma Fen’s head was bleeding from the impact, and she no longer had her former fiery spirit, wailing in pain: ”No! Ahhh!! It hurts so much!! Stop it now!! Or I’ll call the police!!”

These words seemed to provoke Ding Zhiyuan. His hands bulged with veins as he fiercely choked Ma Fen’s neck: ”Call the police?! Go to hell, go to hell!!”

Ma Fen’s face turned pale, and she struggled desperately on the ground, her hands frantically trying to pry open Ding Zhiyuan’s grip, her fingernails leaving bloody marks on his arm. However, Ding Zhiyuan ignored her.

He was insane; the strength in his hands grew, his fingernails piercing Ma Fen’s skin, drawing blood.

Ma Fen’s eyes rolled back, her eyeballs protruded, and the airflow from her throat sounded like a broken bellows leaking air. After struggling for a moment, she stopped moving, her eyes wide open, unwilling to close in death.

Ding Zhiyuan sat on the ground, gasping for breath, his bloodshot eyes gradually losing their color. He stared numbly at Ma Fen’s corpse.

After a while, he got up and went to the kitchen, picked up a knife, gritted his teeth, and wanted to slide it across his neck, but his hand trembled uncontrollably, hesitating to bring it down.

”No... no... I can’t die yet... Right, I can’t die...”

He returned to the living room, dragged the corpse towards the bathroom, then silently took out a toolbox from the cabinet, a distorted excitement flashing across his face.

Terrifying sounds echoed from the bathroom, and Lu Feng felt his vision turn blood-red.

He had never witnessed such a horrific dismemberment scene, especially from a first-person perspective; his consciousness almost collapsed.

However, he gritted his teeth and desperately held on because he heard Ding Zhiyuan muttering something while dismembering the body.

”That bastard... he already knew I wasn’t his real father, and he kept it from me with this bitch, deceiving me for so long. He deserves to die. Tomorrow I’ll go and chop him to death, send them all to reunite, ha ha ha... reunite! And the school’s higher-ups, laughing at me when I asked for leave, ha ha ha... everyone looks down on me, ha ha ha...”

”This world is rotten, it needs to be cleansed... Why am I the only one suffering so much... I want everyone to feel the same...”
