Daily Intelligence: Forced to Save the Beautiful President at the Beginning

88: Chapter 88 I won’t disturb you all ’enjoying’ your feast.Song Zhiwei picked up the teacup on the table, gently blew on the steam, and swept her gaze indifferently over Pei Yunxiao: ”Young Master Pei, with such a big temper, are you afraid I’ll mention the matter at the school gate again, or are you afraid I’ll expose your other secrets?”

Pei Yunxiao’s face instantly turned the color of pig liver, turning red from his ears down to his neck. He opened his mouth, but couldn’t squeeze out a single word for a long time.

What he feared most was Song Zhiwei mentioning the ”supplementary card” matter. If Ruan Shu and the others found out he didn’t even have a principal card for Zhanghua Mountain Villa, his face as ”Young Master Pei” would be completely gone.

Zhang Fan watched with great interest from the side, even picking up a handful of melon seeds from the table to act as a spectator.

To shift the focus, Pei Yunxiao slammed the table and shouted toward the door, ”Waiter! Everyone is here, let’s order!” His voice carried a deliberate toughness, as if he were trying to bolster his own courage.

The waiter quickly pushed the door open and entered, holding a tablet. Bowing, he asked, ”Sir, what would you like to order? Today’s recommendation is the Tasmanian Fresh Australian Lobster. It just arrived by air, and the meat is very tender.”

”Australian lobster?” Pei Yunxiao’s eyes lit up, and he intentionally raised his voice, ”Fine! One for each person! Don’t be stingy, let everyone have a taste!”

His peripheral vision swept over Ruan Shu and the others, and sure enough, he saw the surprise and admiration in their eyes. The embarrassment in his heart instantly dissipated by more than half.

So what if it was a supplementary card? As long as he could keep up appearances, even if Song Zhiwei knew, she wouldn’t dare expose him in public.

Ruan Shu was the first to lean forward, her fingers sliding quickly across the tablet: ”I want this ’Gold Leaf Truffle Braised Sea Cucumber’! I saw someone eating it in a short video before, and they said every bite tastes like money!”

Li Na and Wang Ting weren’t polite either. One ordered ”Caviar Foie Gras Steamed Egg,” and the other ordered ”Black Truffle Seared Wagyu.” Even Li Na, whose cup had just been smashed, quietly ordered a portion of ”Fish Maw Chicken Stewed with Abalone and Shark Fin,” for fear of being left behind.

Yellow Hair was even more direct, pointing at the ”King Crab Prepared Three Ways” at the top of the menu and shouting, ”This! I want this! I heard this crab is bigger than a person; I have to taste it today!”

Only Song Zhiwei and Zhang Fan didn’t move. Zhang Fan leaned back in his chair, playing with a dinner fork, and whispered his complaints to Song Zhiwei: ”This group of people acts like they’ve never eaten anything good. I’m afraid Pei Yunxiao’s supplementary card is going to be maxed out today.”

Song Zhiwei didn’t speak, but a cold smile curled at the corner of her mouth, her eyes full of the understanding of someone ”watching a play.”

Pei Yunxiao noticed the two of them hadn’t ordered and deliberately acted generous: ”Weiwei, why aren’t you ordering? Is there nothing you like? Order whatever you want, don’t be polite with me. Today is my treat!”

”I’m afraid if I order, Young Master Pei won’t be able to pay the bill.” Song Zhiwei looked up, her tone flat but piercing like a needle.

Pei Yunxiao’s face instantly froze, and he coughed awkwardly twice: ”What do you mean I can’t pay? I’m a member of Zhanghua Mountain Villa. Can’t I even afford this much money? Just order!”

”Oh, then I’m relieved.” Song Zhiwei tilted her chin toward the waiter, ”Waiter, remember, this Mr. Pei said he’s paying. Don’t look for the wrong person later.”

The waiter nodded quickly: ”Certainly, ma’am.”

Ruan Shu couldn’t take it anymore and slammed the table: ”Song Zhiwei! Are you looking for trouble on purpose? Young Master Pei is kind enough to let you order, so why are you being so cynical? If it weren’t for Young Master Pei, you wouldn’t be able to afford a meal here in eight lifetimes!”

”Exactly! Song Zhiwei, don’t be ungrateful!” Wang Ting chimed in, ”Young Master Pei is so good to you, yet you still talk back to him. Has your conscience been eaten by a dog?”

Zhao Ya also helped out: ”I think you’re just jealous that Shushu gets to eat with Young Master Pei, so you’re intentionally causing trouble!”

Li Na shrank into the corner, touching the swelling on her forehead, not daring to speak.

The pain from being hit by the goblet earlier hadn’t faded yet; she didn’t dare provoke Pei Yunxiao’s anger again.

Being flattered by everyone, Pei Yunxiao felt high and mighty again. He waved his hand at the waiter: ”Ignore them, continue ordering drinks. What do you all want to drink? Order whatever you want!”

Ruan Shu’s eyes lit up, and she immediately shouted: ”Young Master Pei! Can we have a bottle of ace of spades? I’ve only seen it in short videos; I haven’t drunk it yet!”

”ace of spades?” Pei Yunxiao’s heart skipped a beat—that wine cost tens of thousands of yuan per bottle. But looking at Ruan Shu’s expectant gaze, he braced himself and said, ”Waiter, bring a bottle of ace of spades!”

”Thank you, Young Master Pei!” Ruan Shu’s eyes crinkled with her smile as she bragged to the others, ”See? Young Master Pei is so generous!”

Yellow Hair also joined in the excitement: ”Young Master Pei, is there any romanée-conti? I heard my dad say that wine is incredibly expensive; I want to taste it today too!”

”romanée-conti?” Pei Yunxiao almost spat out the tea he had just drunk. He cursed in his heart: ”Do you fucking deserve to drink romanée-conti? Do you know how much a bottle costs? Even the cheapest one is over a hundred thousand!” But he couldn’t say no, so he could only look at the waiter while forcing himself to stay calm.

The waiter bowed and replied, ”We have it, sir. Do you need a standard bottle or a specific vintage? We have everything from 1953 to 2019 here. The older the vintage, the higher the price.”

”A vintage one, of course!” Ruan Shu spoke up before Pei Yunxiao could, ”Young Master Pei is a member of Zhanghua Mountain Villa. How could a standard bottle be worthy of him? It has to be at least ten years old!”

”Right! Who are you looking down on?” Wang Ting also chimed in, ”Young Master Pei has plenty of money; he has to drink the best!”

Pei Yunxiao’s face turned green, his hands clutching the tablecloth so tightly his knuckles turned white.

Just then, Ruan Shu suddenly changed her tune: ”Oh, wait! We don’t understand wine anyway. We won’t be able to tell the difference if we drink an old vintage. Let’s not waste Young Master Pei’s money! Just bring a bottle from last year; it’s just as a gesture!”

Pei Yunxiao instantly breathed a sigh of relief, and his gaze toward Ruan Shu softened—Ruan Shu was the sensible one, unlike Song Zhiwei, who only caused him trouble.

He secretly calculated in his heart: ”Song Zhiwei is becoming more and more disobedient. I should stay away from her in the future. Ruan Shu is the most considerate one. For the next week, I absolutely won’t pay any attention to Song Zhiwei!”

Song Zhiwei watched the performance of this group and found it boring. She tugged on Zhang Fan’s arm: ”Let’s go, come out with me for a bit.”

Pei Yunxiao immediately stood up and blocked her: ”Song Zhiwei! Where are you going? You haven’t even eaten yet!”

Song Zhiwei stopped, turned to look at him, her eyes holding a trace of playfulness: ”I won’t be eating here. After all, Young Master Pei ordered so many expensive things today. I’m afraid that when it’s time to settle the bill, Young Master Pei’s supplementary card won’t work. How embarrassing would that be?”

”Supplementary card?”

Ruan Shu, Yellow Hair, and the others were instantly stunned, their eyes wide—Young Master Pei’s card was actually a supplementary card? Was his previous claim of being a ”Zhanghua Mountain Villa member” fake?

Pei Yunxiao’s face turned from white to green, then to purple. He pointed his finger at Song Zhiwei, his voice trembling: ”You... you’re talking nonsense! This is a principal card! You just can’t stand to see me doing well, so you’re intentionally making up rumors to undermine me! If you don’t want to eat, then get out!”

”Exactly! Song Zhiwei, what are your intentions!” Ruan Shu immediately jumped out to play the supporting role, her voice shrill as she chimed in, ”How could Young Master Pei possibly use a supplementary card? Are you jealous that Young Master Pei is treating us to a meal, so you’re intentionally trying to drive a wedge between us? If you don’t want to eat, then leave quickly. Don’t spoil everyone’s fun here!”

Yellow Hair also joined in the clamor, slapping the table and shouting, ”Right! If you don’t want to eat, then get out! Young Master Pei was kind enough to invite you, yet you’re here talking shit. Do you really think you’re someone important?”

Li Na and Wang Ting also quickly echoed them. Even if they had doubts in their hearts, they didn’t dare offend Pei Yunxiao.

After all, this outrageously expensive meal still depended on Pei Yunxiao to settle the bill.

Song Zhiwei looked at the faces of these people, a chilly, cold smile curling at the corner of her mouth, her eyes full of disdain: ”Fine. Since Young Master Pei is so confident, I won’t disturb everyone’s ’enjoyment’ of the feast.”

She took Zhang Fan’s wrist and turned to walk toward the door.
