Weakest Beast Tamer Gets All SSS Dragons

Chapter 1142 - Taming the Wall - Test - 2

One Gold 1 rank was not enough, so Selthia made the second one push…

The two Gold-rank monsters immediately began to coordinate. They aggressively tag-teamed the autonomous tower in Roranʼs sector, violently biting at the wooden roots, throwing their massive weight against the trunk, desperately trying to unbalance the structure through sheer, combined power.

Watching the synchronized assault, Ren instantly decoded the entire maneuver.

This wasnʼt only an attack.

It was a measurement. Selthia wanted the exact, mathematical damage report. She wanted to know precisely how much power it cost to break one of his toys.

She needed to know exactly how many beasts, of what specific rank, applying what specific method, over what exact duration of time, it took to snap the monolith in half.

And standing there on the parapet, Ren felt a burning, genuine curiosity flare up in his chest. He actively wanted to see what would happen if he just let the brutal experiment play out. He desperately wanted to observe how far the roots could be pushed, to measure the absolute breaking point of his own engineering against a real high-tier assault.

A very loud part of his brain, the insatiably curious, logic-driven architect, screamed at him to just stand back and let the scene unfold purely to harvest the raw data for himself.

But he absolutely refused to hand Selthia that completed report.

The less the Witch knew about the real discrepancies between the towers, the less she understood about his hidden mechanical tricks, and the more blind she remained to where the true limits actually lay, the better.

Pure, actionable intelligence was the absolute most dangerous weapon Selthia wielded. Freely gifting her a precise measurement of his defensive gridʼs breaking point would be handing her exactly what she had sacrificed her pawns to find.

He wouldnʼt give her a single number.

So, Ren attacked the weak-for-him ʼpoorʼ Gold rank beasts.

♢♢♢♢

Selthia threw the absolute totality of her pressure against the soldiers of the Southwest sector all at once.

The autonomous tower was dead. The massive, bleeding splinters of the wooden monolith lay shattered in the mud, and there was absolutely nothing left standing between the corrupted swarm and the stone face of the Wall.

Up on the parapets, the paralyzing reality of the situation crashed into the defenders. Garret, Dunn, and the rest of the grizzled veterans had spent months getting dangerously comfortable. They had grown soft, casually leaning on their spears while the automated meat-grinder did the heavy lifting.

Now, they were suddenly staring down the throat of a roaring tidal wave of Gold-tier mutants, spearheaded by a colossal Platinum horror.

And vastly more terrifying than the monsters charging them was the one glaring absence on the Wall.

Red Pathfinder was gone.

The quiet commander whose instantaneous, flawless read of the battlefield had safely guided them through every single crisis. The boy who always knew the exact geometric angle to fire from, who knew exactly where they needed to move before the enemy even twitched. He wasnʼt there.

For the very first time in months, the soldiers of the Southwest sector had to stare a genuine, apocalyptic threat dead in the eye. Their stomachs violently knotted into ice-cold lumps as the exact same horrifying question echoed in all their minds: How in the hell are we going to survive this without him?

With the tower destroyed, the sector was in critical, imminent danger of a total breach.

Selthia knew it. And the Witch of corruption was absolutely not the kind of predator to let an opening like this go to waste. A downed tower, a stripped defensive grid, a panicked, disorganized garrison missing its moral anchor, it was the absolute perfect storm. It wasnʼt just an opportunity to slaughter soldiers; it was a rare, golden window to forcefully extract something far more valuable from humanity.

Perhaps she could shatter their morale permanently. Perhaps she could pillage to secure a foothold she could ruthlessly exploit later. She pressed her advantage, driving the corrupted swarm forward with the dark intent of wringing every single drop of blood and intelligence she could out of the naked sector.

The field was wide open. The Wall was about to crack.

And then…

A wall of blue fire pushed them back.

A piercing, high-altitude screech violently tore the sky open.

Liora plummeted from the clouds, riding on the back of Mayoʼs massive avian beast. She crashed into the defensive line like a falling star, bringing the corrupted swarmʼs momentum to a dead, violent halt.

Ren had called her a while ago.

While he was putting on a flawless performance, faking his response, pretending to blindly bite the bait, and sprinting toward Roranʼs sector, Liora was already cutting through the sky. She had been quietly pre-positioned, flying toward Renʼs sector with orders to intervene at the exact microsecond Selthia arrogantly believed she had secured her window.

It was a response Selthia absolutely had not expected. She hadnʼt calculated it because she believed she was operating with a massive, unassailable asymmetry of information.

Selthia fundamentally believed she could see Ren, while he remained entirely blind to her.

She possessed a sprawling, almost quarter planetary surveillance network, or fully planetary if only the livable zones were considered.

She didnʼt just track him through standard mana signatures; she looked through the literal eyes, ears, and other senses of every single mutant beast scattered across the land. Every common Silver-tier creature the Vanguard casually ignored was just another CCTV camera, microphone and radar in her endless grid.

Ren, on the other hand, was just a human. In Selthiaʼs mind, he possessed absolutely no mechanism to peer through her ethereal body, nor did he possess the biological bandwidth to map her beast movements across such a gargantuan territory.

But Ren had suspected she would try a maneuver exactly like this. And he had been quietly preparing for it…

For the past several weeks, Selthia had been meticulously shuffling her higher-tier beasts around the perimeter of the sister cities. She didnʼt dare move them too close to the Wall, where the Vanguardʼs senses would instantly trip over them.

Instead, she kept them buried underground, hovering at the exact calculated distance she assumed marked the absolute limit of Renʼs sensory perception. She kept her strike force dancing right on the edge of the shadows, rendering them ʼinvisibleʼ, patiently positioning her pieces for the day she finally decided to break Red Pathfinderʼs defenses.

What Selthia didnʼt know was that Renʼs perception range was absolutely not a static number.
