I've Already Snagged a Top-tier Goddess at the Start; I'm Incredibly Wealthy!

28: Disappointed Li NaLi Na left the Xiwier Hotel in a daze.

This reporting for duty was completely different from what she had imagined.

She thought she would be assigned some minor tasks today, or just have a simple meeting to get acquainted. She didn’t expect Cao Lang to directly give her an acquisition task.

This kind of work is best handled by professional managers; as a secretary, she was good at dealing with trivial matters, not large-scale capital acquisitions.

This involved negotiations, research, and social interactions that went beyond common worldly wisdom.

She couldn’t guarantee whether she could do this task well.

But Li Na liked challenging work; she could always do the work at hand perfectly.

Previously, as Robin’s secretary, she had already pursued perfection in everything. Now that Cao Lang had given her such a heavy task, it was impossible for her to refuse given her personality.

Moreover, Cao Lang had tripled her salary!

Her previous salary was twenty thousand, and now it was sixty thousand. He also promised that if she did a good job, she would be given a five percent equity stake.

Such high-profit returns made Li Na feel like she was in a dream.

Was there really such a good boss in the world?

When Li Na left, she was sent off in a rolls-royce from the Xiwier Hotel.

She heard that Cao Lang had booked the hotel for a month, and the room fee alone was one million. In addition, he bought a three-million-yuan Ferrari and a fifty-million-yuan Tomson Riviera for a woman.

For such a person, tripling her salary should be standard practice.

Li Na sat in the spacious and comfortable rolls-royce, leaning against the window, watching the scenery flash by outside, her heart full of infinite longing for the future.

It felt a bit like ”having drifted for half a lifetime without meeting a wise lord, today I meet my master and am willing to serve like a horse or a dog.” However, as soon as this thought appeared, Li Na immediately suppressed it.

Her mind was still filled with the figure of Robin, that tall, handsome, focused, and serious lawyer. He was her soulmate, the man she had secretly given her heart to.

It was her wish to be able to marry Robin in this lifetime.

”I must work hard and do a good job with this equity acquisition task. If I also have equity and become a partner, I will be on equal footing with Robin.”

”If we can have an equal dialogue, perhaps Robin will marry me.”

Li Na couldn’t help but chuckle at the thought. The interior of the rolls-royce seemed to warm up like spring flowers blooming, becoming exceptionally cozy.

The driver saw the gentle and beautiful secretary in the back laughing foolishly, and his mood inexplicably improved.

He drove with more energy... ”Cao Lang really let you acquire the remaining equity?”

Robin’s face darkened rarely, with obvious displeasure in his tone.

”Is there a problem with that?”

Li Na stood in front of Robin’s desk. Her white hip-hugging skirt showed off her graceful and hot figure, and her beautiful legs wrapped in stockings were pressed tightly together without a single gap. Today, her careful grooming didn’t attract Robin’s attention, which made her feel a bit disappointed.

”Of course there’s a problem! In this way, Cao Lang becomes the true behind-the-scenes boss of the Law Firm, and I’ll have to act according to his whims!”

Robin slammed the table suddenly, his voice rising sharply, startling Li Na.

”I think he helped you at a critical moment; you shouldn’t think that way.” Li Na’s voice was as calm as possible; she had rarely seen Robin lose his composure like this.

Robin didn’t listen to Li Na’s words; he had a plan in mind.

”Li Na, since you are in charge of this, you must mess it up. Don’t let him succeed in the acquisition.”

Li Na found it unbelievable. Was this coming from the mouth of the upright and honorable Robin?

”That’s not right, Lawyer Robin. You were the one who pushed me away and made me Mr. Cao’s secretary. Now, what do you mean by asking me to mess up the acquisition?”

Li Na was a bit angry. She didn’t understand why he didn’t even blink when he sent her away, and now he was here pointing fingers and telling her what to do.

Wasn’t this contradictory?

Robin frowned, his voice low and cold:

”Li Na, you must remember, you are my person! I sent you there to monitor him. I didn’t expect you wouldn’t even realize this. You’ve disappointed me so much.”

After saying that, his long fingers tapped on the desk as he continued to preach:

”The business world is like a battlefield. There are many things you don’t understand. Now I am besieged on all sides, with many people eyeing my position. The Law Firm is my life’s work; how can I just hand it over to someone else?”

Robin’s words seemed to make some sense.

Li Na was not a young girl in her early twenties; she naturally knew that people’s hearts were complex and full of intrigue.

Because of this, she appreciated the Lawyer Robin who was worldly-wise but not cynical, the Lawyer Robin who was righteous and only fought for his ideals, the Lawyer Robin who was open-minded and didn’t care about gains and losses.

It’s just, why had the current Robin become so strange? Knowing that she was unwilling to do such underhanded things, he still deliberately made her the bad person, a mole.

Perhaps Lawyer Robin also had some unspeakable difficulties.

In the world of men, one cannot always do as one pleases.

Li Na found an excuse for Robin. She was unwilling to believe there was any stain on the man she secretly loved. Pursing her lips, she nodded in agreement and left the office absent-mindedly.

Walking on her long legs wrapped in flesh-colored stockings, she prepared to return to her former office position, only to find that her exclusive administrative desk had already been taken over by a young new secretary with blonde wavy hair.

Li Na’s full lips parted slightly in surprise. The other party responded with a smile.

”Hello, Sister Li Na. I am Robin’s secretary, Liu Tingting. You can just call me Tingting.”

Liu Tingting sat at the administrative desk and leaned forward slightly, with no intention of getting up.

”So young,” Li Na sighed inwardly.

She had only been gone for a day, and a new secretary had already been arranged. She didn’t even have a place to work.

If it were anyone else, they would have gone to Robin to question him, but Li Na never gave Robin trouble. She found a dusty workstation, tidied it up, and quietly began to work... On Cao Lang’s side, after sending Li Na away, he lay on the bed and started scrolling through TikTok again.

One beauty after another, truly just passing clouds.

If someone looked pleasing to the eye, he would send a carnival, causing a burst of screams from the other side, and the emotional value was instantly maxed out.

When he was hungry, he would have the butler bring top-tier food, with a specially assigned beautiful waitress serving him on the side.

The life of the rich is truly simple and unadorned.

Jiang Mengyuan sent a green bubble message.

”Brother, I studied hard today. I’ve enrolled in a finance class, and I’ll work hard to become even better!”

Attached was also a selfie of her taking notes seriously in class.

From that angle, Jiang Mengyuan’s smile was like a flower. One couldn’t tell if she went there to study or to take photos.

Cao Lang replied: ”Mm, keep it up. I’ll arrange tasks for you in the future.”

The other party quickly replied: ”Thank you, brother. I will definitely work hard!”

Jiang Mengyuan was becoming more and more sensible now. If he ordered her to get into Tsinghua University, could she do it?

Cao Lang thought of this and shook his head with a smile.

He didn’t look at what a woman actually achieved, but only whether she had the heart for it.
