Chapter 152: When You Gaze Into the Abyss, the Abyss Also Gazes Into You

In just a few moments, Lin Moyu cleared out hundreds of Abyss Man-Eaters.

Including the Abyss Wolf Demon, he and Ning Yiyi each gained several hundred military merits.

Several hundred merits was a drop in the bucket for Lin Moyu.

At the lieutenant rank, it took a full 10,000 merits to gain one star.

Ning Yiyi was a private. 100 merits was enough to gain one star.

Ning Yiyi’s military badge flashed brightly, shining stars appearing one by one.

Six-star private.

In just half a day, Ning Yiyi had gone from two-star to six-star private.

This speed would make anyone envious and shocked.

At this rate, reaching lieutenant wouldn’t be difficult.

“Brother, thank you.”

The rescued group walked over. The lead knight thanked Lin Moyu.

Though Lin Moyu was only level 26, level didn’t represent strength.

Lin Moyu had already proven this point.

The strong were respected. A strong fist was the hard truth.

He maintained full respect for Lin Moyu.

“Anyone would come when seeing a distress signal. No need to thank me.” Lin Moyu’s voice was flat, sounding somewhat aloof.

To these people, this response seemed natural.

As a strong person, one should act like a strong person.

Powerful people may all have some odd temperaments.

Ning Yiyi poked her head out, “You’re a demon hunting team, right?”

They nodded, “Yes, we’re a demon hunting team.”

“Aren’t demon hunting teams supposed to be very strong? Specializing in hunting demons, how did you almost get hunted by a demon this time?”

In Ning Yiyi’s understanding, demon hunting teams were all very powerful.

Each person had extraordinary combat power, able to challenge higher levels without issue.

Just now, merely a level 38 Abyss Wolf Demon plus a few hundred Man-Eaters had nearly wiped them out.

The group’s faces showed some discomfort, as if there was something they couldn’t say.

The lead knight sighed, “Our team originally had 12 people. Besides us 9, there was also a Great Knight, a Great Elder, and an Archmage.”

“But those three temporarily left the team…”

Short-handed, they were caught by the Abyss Wolf Demon at an opportune moment.

Great Knight, Archmage, Great Elder.

These three careers weren’t even considered rare careers among ordinary career holders.

Their combat power wasn’t considered very strong among same-level career holders.

The “Great” prefix meant these three were over level 40 and had completed their second transition, belonging to high-level career holders.

Even ordinary careers could master several powerful skills after completing second transition.

In a situation like earlier, if given enough time, the Archmage could cast several large-scale skills like Meteor Apocalypse.

A few hundred Man-Eaters could be quickly cleared out.

A second transition Great Knight also had group protection skills. Even surrounded, it wasn’t so scary.

And the Great Elder – after second transition, Great Elders had group healing skills.

These three were the core of the entire demon hunting team. Unexpectedly…

Lin Moyu wasn’t interested in hearing about their team’s internal affairs. “We’re leaving. Take care of yourselves.”

After speaking, Lin Moyu and Ning Yiyi disappeared into the thick mist.

The crackling sounds of the skeleton warriors gradually faded, eventually disappearing completely.

A moment later, the mist churned as more people rushed over.

Three people charged over. The knight didn’t hesitate to use skills, instantly crossing hundreds of meters.

“Are you all okay?”

“Why did you send a distress signal? What happened?”

He looked anxious. Seeing the corpses all over the ground, his face changed even more.

These three were the Great Knight, Great Elder and Archmage who had left the team earlier.

Clearly, they had good relationships. Otherwise they wouldn’t have rushed back so urgently.

As for why they left the team earlier, only they knew.

Ning Yiyi held Lin Moyu’s hand, “Aren’t you curious at all?”

Lin Moyu shook his head, “Not curious.”

He had no interest in others’ gossip.

Ning Yiyi’s eyes blazed with curiosity, “I really want to know why their demon hunting team split up.”

“You know, people in demon hunting teams are all life-and-death companions with very close relationships.”

“There must be a reason for suddenly splitting up. Is it love, or benefits…”

Lin Moyu couldn’t help laughing. This girl had such a rich imagination and lively personality.

Not at all the calm and cool demeanor an assassin-type career should have.

In Lin Moyu’s impression, assassin-type career holders should be like Zuo Mei.

But look at this girl beside him.

He unconsciously patted Ning Yiyi’s head.

Quite cute, isn’t she!

Deep in Battlefield No. 3, the mist grew thicker.

The power of the Abyss was more obvious here.

The lively Ning Yiyi had long forgotten about what happened earlier and changed the topic, “I’ve heard people say the Abyss is also divided into many regions. Battlefields No. 1 to 3 correspond to just the surface layer of the Abyss.”

Lin Moyu had also seen related knowledge in the materials.

The Elemental Battlefield was extremely vast, with various countries participating.

On the Divine Summer side, the Eternal Great Wall guarded it, divided into Battlefields No. 1 to 9.

Each battlefield corresponded to a fortress.

Fortresses No. 1 to 3 corresponded to the entrance of the Abyss.

Space was folded and overlapped, actually the farthest distance.

Powerful experts had set up layers of obstacles, preventing powerful Abyss demons from entering Battlefields No. 1 to 3.

Battlefields No. 4 and above overlapped more closely with the Abyss space. There were more Abyss demons there.

Abyss demons above level 40 were common.

Like human career holders, level 40 was a watershed.

Abyss demons above level 40 were all very powerful, called high-level demons.

Lin Moyu quickly shared knowledge about the Abyss and Elemental Battlefield, “In the deepest part of Battlefield No. 3, some areas overlap with the Abyss entrance. You can see the true Abyss.”

“Monsters become more numerous there, demons often appear, and there’s also a dungeon there.”

Ning Yiyi’s eyes lit up with the light called military merit.

“If demons increase, does that mean military merits increase too?”

She didn’t consider the danger at all.

With Lin Moyu around, she felt completely safe.

What Lin Moyu said was all content from the materials.

The specific situation could only be known when they got there.

Perhaps because of the siege on that demon hunting team earlier, large numbers of nearby Abyss Man-Eaters had been driven over there.

Along the way, they hadn’t seen many.

After walking for a few more hours, Man-Eaters finally became more numerous.

What increased even more were demon hunting teams.

In just three short hours, Lin Moyu and Ning Yiyi encountered no less than five demon hunting teams.

Each team varied in size and career composition.

One team had a very extreme composition.

Six assassin career holders formed a team.

They moved silently. Upon seeing monsters, they immediately activated stealth skills and attacked from behind.

Assassins’ skills were very powerful.

Basically two assassins bursting skills simultaneously could instantly kill a same-level Man-Eater.

Seeing them, Lin Moyu couldn’t help thinking of the Dragon Assassins he had seen in the Hell Outpost dungeon.

Extreme attributes, super strong burst power.

They could heavily injure skeleton warriors in an instant.

Clearly, human assassin-type career holders were similar, with burst power no less impressive.

And they had more skills, more flexible and varied.

Lin Moyu observed this, feeling he must be careful if encountering assassin-type career holders in the Career Holder Tournament.

A black line appeared in view.

The black line extended infinitely into the distance.

It divided the world into two parts.

The other side of the black line was the Abyss world.

It looked like there was no barrier, but it was impossible to enter.

Monsters and demons from the Abyss couldn’t easily come out either.

An invisible force separated the two worlds.

Only when touching it did ripples appear, spreading out like water.

This was spatial folding, where two worlds collided, forming a strange scene.

“That’s the Abyss inside. It looks so scary.”

Ning Yiyi exclaimed in awe.

Standing outside, they could see pairs of blood-red eyes in the pitch-black Abyss world, bloodthirsty and fierce.

They could see into the Abyss world from here, and the Abyss world could likewise see here.

Lin Moyu recalled a saying.

When you gaze into the abyss, the abyss also gazes into you.

Occasionally spatial channels would open, and monsters and demons from inside would rush out in swarms.

A scream suddenly rang out from the sky.

An Abyss demon with a human body and snake tail fell from the air.

It twitched twice on the ground, then went still.
