Arcane Academy: The Divine Extraction Legacy

Chapter 972: The Advancement of Immortals

Corvin rubbed his beard thoughtfully at Vale’s question.

”Well... to truly step beyond the Lesser Immortal stage, it’s not just about having powerful spells—it’s about synergy. You need to elevate at least four of your Immortal Spells to the Perfect Realm. That’s no easy feat on its own, mind you.”

”Four...” Vale echoed, his gaze sharpening.

”Correct,” Corvin confirmed. ”But that’s only the start. Once four are perfected, you must find a way to merge them—not forcefully... They must resonate and harmonize with one another. This is called the Confluence Baptism... So all of your Immortal Spells must have a connection or you’ll be in huge trouble. A lot of Immortals get stuck on this stage since during their Half-Immortal Stage, they just learned whatever Immortal Spells they could and wasted their Immortal Spell Lights.”

Indeed, Arcane Spell Lights may be easily removed with one’s power, but it was different for the Golden or Evolved Spell Light meant for Celestial Arts or Immortal Spells.

Silvia leaned in slightly. She had learned some combat techniques from an Earth Immortal in the Clan after all.

”It’s more than just spell fusion. The merged spell must represent a deeper truth of your path. If you’re walking the Darkness or maybe even the Shadow Path, for example, you’ll need to understand what Shadow truly means to you. Cloak, blade, refuge—or punishment. Your insight defines the form the merged art takes. Ahh--”

Realizing that it was probably not her turn to speak, she immediately bowed and explained.

”Ahem... Of course, I just heard this from my master before... She guided me on what to do once I reached the level of the Immortals.” She added.

Corvin and Vale didn’t mind it at all and nodded along.

The old merchant then continued. ”Once that fusion is complete, your Immortal Core will respond. It’ll begin to fracture—but not in a destructive way. It’ll reform, reshaping your internal energies to draw from the world’s will, from ley lines and the source of your Divinity... And then... your entire being will ascend to the Earth Immortal level.”

Vale processed this quietly. He’d already pushed multiple Celestial Arts close to perfection. A few were at Level 9, just on the edge to reach Level 10 or the Perfect Realm... It was within reach.

”And what if someone tries to brute-force their way past this?” he asked. ”Say... gathering a lot of Immortal Spell Lights and just learning more spells instead of perfecting the ones they have?”

”That path leads to collapse,” Silvia answered firmly. ”Your soul would become bloated—overwhelmed with unrefined laws. It’s happened before. They call it Spell Fracture Syndrome. The body survives, but the mind... doesn’t.”

Corvin added, ”There are arrogant fools who try to cheat the way of the Immortals, thinking more is always better. But this realm has laws. Limits. Foundations must be stable before you stack the tower.”

Vale smirked faintly as he felt that he had already fully grasp the situation.

This was definitely a fruitful topic.

”Then I’ll choose my four Immortal Spells and perfect them.”

At this time, Corvin couldn’t help but feel admiration...

”You’re an odd one, Vale. Not in a bad way. Just... different. Most Immortals cling to their heritage, their masters’ teachings. But you? You’re carving your own path. Just from your questions, I can tell that you didn’t really learn from another Immortal. You’re impressive.”

Shane wryly smiled as it was certainly the truth. After all, even the Immortals he had turned into his side were also Lesser Immortals and didn’t know better aside from the history, various Immortal Spells, and other things.

They fell into silence again for a time.

However, Corvin soon straightened in his seat. ”Ah... We’re here.”

Vale leaned out slightly and indeed, he finally witnessed a settlement.

The Luminis Hold had an impressive outer wall and it meant one thing, there were threats outside this place... It could be creatures, other Immortals, or even a natural disaster that he wasn’t aware of.

Vale then noticed the Guard towers at each corner. They were manned by watchful sentries, and he already felt a few Divine Sense passing through them...

They were being scanned already.

Corvin didn’t mind this at all and remained calm, so Vale didn’t react either.

They easily passed through the gates with Corvin’s reputation and within the walls, it was filled with life.

There were ordinary merchants, children having fun on the streets, and various workers moving about...

It definitely looked like a human realm at first.

”Impressive...” Vale muttered.

There were still a lot of ordinary people—farmers, traders, smiths, and many more that he could sense...

But also those robed in long cloaks and intricate robes. They were the Arcane Practitioners.

Arcanists walking with their staves or grimoires could also be seen... There were also plenty of Half-Immortals. Nonetheless, the true Immortals, though rare—could be seen conversing quietly or meditating in the courtyards.

Still, Vale could easily tell that the Shadow Arts were the most common path around here...

As a matter of fact, by using his Spirit Vision and Divine Sense, about 80% of the Practitioners, including the Half-Immortals and Immortals that he could sense, were practicing the Shadow Arts.

’I guess it’s because of the Will of the Realm...’ Vale mused.

”Although the Shadow Arts is the common path here, that’s only because that’s the safest way to advance into an Immortal... Are you aware of it? Or did you get lucky?” Corvin said with a chuckle...

”Well... I can only practice the Dark Arts at the start, so I’m probably fated to this path.” Vale replied.

”Haha... That’s normal... Shadow and Darkness Energy is the highest here, unlike the other Arcane Paths.” Corvin replied.

”Alright... I’ll be doing some business now... It was short, but I hope that we meet again, Vale, Silvia... If you ever need me again, just look for me in the plaza... I’ll probably stay there for a few days to sell most of my stuff.”

Vale was indeed thankful for this kind merchant... Because of that, he decided to purchase a few more items from him...
