Arcane Academy: The Divine Extraction Legacy

Chapter 969: Against Half-Immortals

Corvin’s fingers were already moving over a hidden glyph beneath the table, ready to spring into action.

But Vale’s voice stopped him...

”Don’t. Please let me handle this... It’s for the free fruit.”

Corvin chuckled. ”You sure? They’re not going to talk this out—”

”I’ll handle it.” Vale stood slowly and brushed the folds of his cloak aside.

His expression was calm, but there was already a killing intent in his eye—one Corvin hadn’t seen before.

Well, Vale didn’t miss their killing intent. Since they planned to kill him, they should expect to be killed as well.

The two enforcers approached without hesitation and Vale observed them calmly.

One of them had twin sickles while the other was simply cracking his knuckles as black smoke coiled around his fists.

”Last warning,” growled the sickle-wielder. ”This doesn’t concern you.”

Vale just stepped forward.

In that instant, everything changed.

The air around him swiftly dropped in temperature.

The leaves on the nearby trees trembled. Even the weapons held by the so-called Enforcers started giving off a soft hum from the pressure that Vale was emitting.

This was not an Immortal Spell or any known Arcane Spell.

It was simply Vale’s terrifying Divinity...

Although the Half-Immortals also had Divinity on their own, they simply couldn’t compare to Vale’s level.

The two enforcers halted.

”You—You’re not just some courier, are you?” said the one with smoky fists. Seeing Vale’s cold expression, he felt suddenly unsure about his plan to attack.

However, Vale didn’t answer.

Instead, he vanished.

In the blink of an eye, he closed the distance, almost like a single step. It was faster than any of them could track.

Bam!

A solid crack echoed as his open palm slammed into the chest of the smoke-fisted enforcer...

This move folded him in half and launched him backward through the air.

Bang!

The enforcer crashed into a tree with such force that the bark exploded and the trunk split vertically before toppling.

At this point, everyone else, including the woman who was being targeted, looked in his direction. There was no doubt about it...

Only a strong Immortal could easily defeat a Half-Immortal!

Whether Vale was a Lesser Immortal, or maybe an Earth Immortal, or even higher than that, they were completely unaware of that.

”W-wait—”

The sickle-wielder barely had time to react before Vale turned to him.

This time, his attack was slower...

It was just a swift leg sweep followed by a rising knee that sent the man flipping through the air. His body landed on the ground his weapons were scattered on the ground.

Well, Vale didn’t want them to see his Spells, so he used his body instead.

After all, his Spells had come from the human realm, and it might be different from the Shadow Realm. He didn’t want them to know more about his background while he was still studying this realm.

Then, before the others could respond, Vale raised his voice.

”Six against one,” he said evenly. ”Your odds are already poor. Turn back. Now.”

Of course, Vale didn’t have any plans to let them escape. He just wanted to see how desperate these Half-Immortals are.

The lead enforcer narrowed his eyes. ’He’s an Immortal. Damn it...’

He wanted to escape immediately since even with their Artifacts, they might still lose against the young Immortal.

However, the mission given to him was important...

He couldn’t help but look at the woman before turning to his subordinates.

”Use your artifacts! Take him together!” He ordered.

Just like that, three more burst forward...

This time, they used a coordinated flurry of blades, darts, and energy attacks aimed at Vale’s vital points.

’They’re not going down without a fight... Admirable...’ Vale mused.

Still, Vale didn’t need Immortal Spells...

He dodged or blocked all the strikes almost effortlessly, using only his body.

Bam!

Soon, his palm met a wrist mid-swing, snapping it in a clean fracture.

Then, it was followed by a knee to the solar plexus that sent another crumpling.

After that, there was a flick of his fingers that knocked a dagger from the air, while his other hand grabbed another by the throat and lifted him off the ground.

Of course, all of the weapons used, including the movements done, were filled with Divinity... As a matter of fact, the dagger he knocked out of the air was filled with a mystical spell that should corrode his body.

However, Vale’s level was simply too high for the Half-Immortals. Their sneaky spells couldn’t penetrate him at all.

At this time, one of them hesitated—but Vale stared at him.

Just one glance.

However, it was filled with the overwhelming pressure of control.

The enforcer dropped his weapon and bolted into the trees...

Facing an Immortal was indeed too much for him!

”Coward!” the leader roared, but his words barely registered.

He turned toward the girl, and seeing her try to sneak away, he immediately had an idea...

In desperation, he launched forward, intent on grabbing her.

As long as he captures the woman and leaves this place, he should be able to complete his mission.

However, Vale noticed what he wanted to do.

Vale’s body moved faster...

The enforcer leader was almost stopped by Vale!

However, he released his Arcane Shield and stopped Vale’s advance for a second. It was enough for him!

The leader crossed the distance and seized the girl by the arm.

She screamed, lashing out with her weapon, but her energy immediately started fading.

”I’ll take her with me, even if it costs my life—” The enforcer muttered as a metallic token dropped on the ground.

A transport rune.

He was trying to teleport out!

Vale no longer hesitated as he increased his Divinity output and appeared beside them instantaneously.

”I said... no.”

Vale’s hand then closed around the enforcer’s wrist.

Crack.

It shattered instantly.

The enforcer tried to yell, but Vale’s other hand clamped his mouth shut!

After that, he pulled him off the girl and then drove him headfirst into the dirt.

Boom!
