Chapter 924: Chapter 709: Breaking the Shell

Su Jiu looked at the two people in confusion, ”Who are you? Do we... know each other?”

Shen Li paused for a moment, then a deeper sadness flashed in his eyes.

He had been separated from his biological mother for over twenty years. He was too young at the time, and his mother was taken away. How could she remember him?

Shen Li spoke softly, ”Mother, I am Jiuli. I don’t know if you remember, but over twenty years ago, you fell in love with Ji Jin, the monarch of the Yiyuan Empire, and gave birth to me.”

”Unfortunately, your identity as a Blood Clan person was discovered by the ’Hand of Creation,’ and they came to capture you. At that time, I was too young to do anything... Even my father couldn’t protect you and was injured because of it, passing away a few years later.”

He thought, even if his mother couldn’t recognize his face, the name ”Jiuli” was chosen by his parents together; she must remember it.

However, after Su Jiu listened, her expression remained confused, ”Jiuli? What is the Yiyuan Empire? I’m sorry... I don’t understand what you’re saying, it feels like I can’t remember anything...”

Shen Li’s expression froze suddenly, his throat moved, but he couldn’t speak.

He had thought he finally found his long-lost mother, able to make up for the regrets of these many years, fulfilling his unfilial duties, but the other party completely didn’t recognize him.

He couldn’t tell whether it was disappointment or sorrow, his mother not only forgot him but also forgot his father.

Shen Tang gently held his hand, shook her head, then stepped forward to look at the incredibly beautiful woman on the bed, ”Aunt, Jiuli indeed is your son, what he said is true, only you lost a lot of memories after being captured by the ’Hand of Creation.’ We just rescued you... Even if you can’t recall it temporarily, it’s okay. Please take good care of yourself.”

Perhaps being with another female made it easier to let down her guard, Su Jiu who just woke up had been somewhat tense seeing two strangers, but listening to Shen Tang’s warm voice, her tense nerves gradually relaxed.

Son?

Her gaze fell upon the tall, red-haired young man, and after examining him carefully for a moment, her expression suddenly froze, showing a bit of pain, as if she was trying hard to remember something.

She may have lost her memory, but her basic cognitive abilities were still intact, and she could naturally see the resemblance between this Fox Clan youth and herself.

Mysteriously, there seemed to be a faint bloodline connection, unfamiliar yet familiar, causing her eyes to heat up involuntarily, with tears silently sliding down.

Why...

It feels like she’s forgotten something very important.

Her heart always seemed to be wrapped around a persistent sadness and gloom.

Seeing Su Jiu’s emotions seeming somewhat uncontrollable, Shen Tang didn’t rush to have mother and son recognize each other but instead took Shen Li out of the room.

”Let’s let Aunt have a good rest first. She was locked in the laboratory for over twenty years; no one knows what she experienced, both her body and mind are severely damaged. I actually anticipated the memory loss...”

”I examined her body; there are no signs of Tumor Gu or anything else at play. It should be memory loss caused by enormous stress.” Shen Tang sighed lightly, unsure whether to feel relieved or sad.

If it were due to other reasons, at least there would be a solution.

But this kind of amnesia can only gradually recover on her own, with little hope.

Even her Healing Ability isn’t effective.

Shen Li clenched his fist, his voice was extremely hoarse, ”Someday, I’ll make them pay.”

Shen Tang nodded, ”Yes, they’ve done so many vile deeds secretly, they will certainly face retribution, but the time isn’t right yet.”

On Eris Star, the ”Hand of Creation” has deeply-rooted influence, not easily eradicated.

This time, Shen Li suddenly attacked their laboratory in the Ancient Clan, destroyed the branch, and even the headquarters was damaged, many important materials were burnt, the ”Hand of Creation” has long been embarrassed and angry.

These days, Shen Tang seems calm in the palace, Shen Li rarely mentions outside matters, but she knows the ”Hand of Creation” has been putting pressure on Shen Li.

Shen Li not only didn’t compromise but instead tore up all past cooperation.

The other side probably has the intent to kill him now.

Unfortunately, the branch teleportation array was bombed, and they can’t send a large force for the time being.

Then ”Hand of Creation” launched a public opinion attack, many civilians and high-ranking officials, among them no shortage of their fervent believers, seemed to have their rationality manipulated, changing their previous support to unite against Shen Li.

In recent days, riots have erupted in multiple places.

They see Shen Li as a Fox Clan traitor, an enemy of the Divine Hall, saying that this ”outsider” does not deserve the position of Clan Leader, trying every means to drag him down.

Some people at the higher levels are unwilling to be ruled by him, some are already ”Hand of Creation’s” lackeys, others want to use the opportunity to overthrow Shen Li. Thus, although the palace appears calm, the outside is already a storm of blood and wind.
