Help! The Villainess Trapped in the Beast World's Drama!

Chapter 849: Chapter 668: He Is from the Nine-tailed Fox Clan!?

A blinding flash of light swept past, and when they opened their eyes again, they were already in an enclosed yet incomparably vast Space.

This was not some ancient stone building, but a gigantic cube of Energy Barriers, floating in the void.

Above the Space, a virtual ranking list condensed from energy was suspended in midair.

Throughout the entire field, hundreds of human-shaped energy phantoms were scattered about.

The thirty contestants were all placed within this void, neat grids unfolding under their feet, as if they were standing on an enormous chessboard.

They were all geniuses carefully nurtured by the Divine Fox Clan, and perhaps had received some advance instructions; thus no one showed panic or confusion on their faces.

Each person carefully sized up this Space while secretly observing the contestants around them, judging each other’s strength.

Shen Li didn’t show much reaction; he merely swept his gaze around lightly, then looked at the others standing in scattered clusters not far away.

In those long, Charming fox eyes, there was no visible attitude or emotion, only the same faint smile as always.

The little doll on his shoulder, however, couldn’t sit still.

She straightened up, leaned against his shoulder, and moved closer to his ear to ask in a small voice, ”Is this the trial ground prepared by the Divine Fox Clan?”

Shen Li tilted his head slightly, as if unintentionally brushing his cheek against the doll’s face. A strand of smooth red hair swept past the tip of his nose, making Shen Tang, thousands of miles away, feel an itch and almost want to sneeze.

He chuckled softly and replied, ”Mm, this is the ’Broken Beast Fighting Arena,’ a Space specially constructed by the elders of the Divine Fox Clan, and also the venue for this competition.”

”The rules are very simple, and very cruel—a mixed melee elimination system.” As Shen Li walked forward at an unhurried pace, he patiently explained, ”All contestants enter at the same time. There are no fixed platforms here; the entire Space is the battlefield.”

”For everyone, besides the other contestants, these energy phantoms are also opponents. Defeating a phantom earns you a small number of points.”

”But defeating another contestant—whether by robbing them of the ability to fight or forcing them to concede—not only grants a large number of points, you can also seize the points they already have.”

”Anyone who is defeated will be automatically Teleported out of the field. Once you leave, you are considered eliminated.”

”In the end, the three people who have the highest points and remain until the last will enter the final round of duels.”

Little Shen Tang nodded and lowered her head to look at Shen Li’s right hand.

On the back of the man’s pale, beautiful hand, a digit like an energy imprint had appeared: ”0.”

This meant he had not yet defeated any contestants, and his points had yet to start accumulating.

From the moment the Teleportation was completed, the competition had already begun.

At first, the contestants were still somewhat cautious, merely attacking the blue phantoms nearby to stockpile some points so they wouldn’t fall too far behind.

Once they roughly figured out the situation and the strength of those around them, it didn’t take long for someone to start launching attacks on other contestants.

Then came the second, the third... More and more Beastmen locked onto targets and launched attacks on other contestants.

Soon, the battlefield heated up rapidly and plunged into a chaotic melee.

Ji Qing cast a heavy glance in Shen Li’s direction but did not go for him immediately. Instead, he chose to display his strength first, swiftly taking out two slightly weaker opponents nearby and racking up a considerable number of points.

Not long after the opening, he had already established a clear advantage, his rank shooting straight up to first place!

On the rankings, Wu Guan and Miao Zi followed closely behind.

The other contestants’ points were also rising rapidly.

Soon, several people were eliminated, and their names on the rankings turned gray.

Shen Li moved along the edge of the battlefield. Compared to the others who were fighting tooth and nail for points, his performance seemed quite standard, even a bit too ”Buddha-like,” making him look as if he would be easy to handle.

He did not take the initiative to challenge anyone; only when a contestant nearby attacked him did he appear to be ”forced” into fighting back.

Although Shen Li had once taken the top spot on the points board in the city district before, in the face of these prodigies of the Divine Fox Clan, he could only be considered of middling talent.

He exchanged dozens of moves with a Beastman without gaining the upper hand, and only barely managed to defeat the opponent thanks to his agile footwork and precise control.

After that, he defeated another contestant, the points on the back of his hand rising at a neither-fast-nor-slow pace, leaving him in an inconspicuous, middle-of-the-pack position on the rankings.

No matter how chaotic or tense the situation on the field became, Shen Li always carried that little doll with him, moving with the idle ease of someone strolling through his own backyard garden.

In Ji Qing’s eyes, this composure was practically naked provocation.
