Help! The Villainess Trapped in the Beast World's Drama!

Chapter 802: Chapter 648: Gatekeeper (2)

”I like you, and I want to pursue you.” Yue Lin took a deep breath, his gaze complex. ”Stop following him, and come with me.”

”He’s not the one truly suitable for you.”

Shen Tang frowned tightly, not understanding what he was saying. She just felt offended, and her impression of Yue Lin plummeted, turning around intending to leave.

However, Yue Lin quickly caught up, once again gripping her wrist, ”It’s not that easy to get into the laboratory. Once discovered, you’ll have no place to die peacefully.”

He didn’t know exactly what Xun Fu wanted to do, but since she had gone through so much trouble to come here, it was definitely to get into the laboratory, although she was oversimplifying things.

He held her hand, pulling her closer, ”It’s too dangerous for you alone. Come with me, I’ll take you inside.”

”No, I want to find Jin. We likely aren’t on the same path.” Shen Tang knew that the two never got along in terms of character or background. In this matter, Yue Lin would not only be unhelpful but might even stand in opposition.

A glimmer of understanding flashed in Yue Lin’s eyes. So it was for him. No wonder she, a female, dared to intrude the laboratory alone, and that leopard wasn’t following her.

It seemed the one who heavily damaged the lab this time was that crazy leopard.

Suppressing his unwillingness and melancholy, Yue Lin agreed quickly, ”Alright, I’ll help you find him and get him out.”

Shen Tang was stunned, not expecting him to agree so straightforwardly. Could it be a trap?

Before she had time to thoroughly consider whether to cooperate with Yue Lin, a piercing alarm suddenly rang in the hall.

[Detected unidentified personnel... Detected 157 unidentified personnel, execute annihilation immediately!]

Several lasers shot down from above, precisely hitting those invaders who mingled in. They vanished in the light, not even having time to scream.

One of the attacks was directed right at Shen Tang.

The tragic scenes just now explained everything; once locked by the defense system, there was nowhere to escape.

Shen Tang’s face changed color, and Yue Lin already stepped in front of her, raising a hand to form an ice wall, blocking the laser.

Then, he waved out a moon-like light blade, striking some hidden device with a boom.

The hidden defense system was partially destroyed, temporarily losing its targeting function.

Shen Tang’s heart pounded like a drum, her expression grave. This was the laboratory secretly established by the ”Hand of Creation”, and its defense measures were unimaginably strong. Those beastmen who were instantly obliterated were all top masters, at least with Peak of Tenth Rank strength. If Yue Lin hadn’t been encountered today, she would have been severely injured at the very least.

However, the crisis wasn’t over yet; a large force was already closing in, aiming clearly to capture Shen Tang, the illegal intruder.

Yue Lin stepped forward, standing in front of her, scanning the crowd, ”The laboratory has been intruded. I’m here to assist on behalf of the Moon Wolf Clan. These are people I brought with me; please let us through so we can pursue the intruders.”

Given the Moon Wolf Clan’s close ties with the lab, no one doubted his words, and they put away their weapons, making a path.

Yue Lin then led Shen Tang deeper into the laboratory.

Shen Tang couldn’t help but glance at the silver-haired young man beside her. According to her original plan, whether she could sneak in was uncertain, let alone break through the encirclement so quickly.

Unexpectedly, Yue Lin directly escorted her through the checkpoint. It seemed cooperating was necessary.

Shen Tang didn’t oppose anymore, quietly following beside him, both walking towards the underground laboratory.

The public area on the first floor of the laboratory was merely an entrance, giving no sense of the entire structure. Judging from the elevator markings alone, there’s actually a hundred floors underground.

Unfortunately, the elevator was long broken, forcing them to walk down. Even the old stairways were often broken, surrounding structures all damaged, with numerous beastman corpses scattered about, making progress extremely difficult. It was evident how fierce the battle had been not long ago.

The further they went down, the colder the air became, the kind of frosty chill deeply buried underground permeating into their bones, making them shiver slightly.

By the ninetieth floor, scarcely anyone else could be seen.

A deadly silence, the air seemingly solidified, filled with an inexplicable oppression. Only their own breathing could be heard, and even the faint sound of blood flowing.

No, the sound seemed to come from even deeper...

Like some weak yet rhythmic pulse.

Even Yue Lin felt an indescribable chill, hair standing slightly on end. He frowned, suppressing the unease in his heart, proceeding ahead of Shen Tang, stepping into the hall of the ninety-first floor.

The style drastically changed from this floor onwards. Previously, it was an ordinary laboratory structure, but here it seemed like a gigantic exhibition hall.
