Harry Potter and the Secret Treasures

At the strong request of Scrimgeour and the Ministry of Magic, Evan and Harry could not leave their line of surveillance now.

Therefore, they had no way to go to the headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix. This was one of the main reasons why Evan finally decided not to go home this Christmas. He didn’t want his home to be monitored and protected by the Ministry like the Burrow, with all the ins and outs being checked. His parents were just ordinary Muggles and couldn’t stand such a disruption.

Mr. Weasley had just said that Scrimgeour was now counting on Dumbledore.

But that statement wasn’t entirely complete. Scrimgeour also wanted to keep a firm grip on Evan and Harry. Whether it was because of Evan’s past actions or the prophecy that had once been stored in the Ministry of Magic, Scrimgeour understood that if he wanted to defeat Voldemort, the two of them were key figures. They were the only leverage he had control over.

If Evan were the Minister for Magic, he would undoubtedly take measures regarding the two of them as well…

Back in his room, Ron fell asleep almost as soon as he touched the pillow.

Evan was not very sleepy, so he took out the Ministry of Magic book that recorded information about house-elves from a thousand years ago and started reading it, while chatting with Harry.

Harry didn’t sleep either. He leaned on the bed and quickly flipped through his copy of Advanced Potion-Making.

“What are you looking for?” Evan asked.

“The publication date, Lupin just reminded me of it, so we can determine when the Prince was at Hogwarts,” said Harry.

It didn’t take long before he found, at the front of the book, the date that it had been published. It was nearly fifty years old.

“Nearly fifty years …” said Harry in disappointment. Neither his father, nor his father’s friends, had been at Hogwarts fifty years ago.

“Fifty years… That’s around the time Tom Riddle was at Hogwarts,” Evan remarked.

“It can’t be him. There are a few years in between. The Prince entered Hogwarts after him,” said Harry uncertainly. The book’s publication date was too close to the time when young Voldemort was at Hogwarts.

This discovery unsettled him. Harry didn’t want to believe that the Half-Blood Prince was connected to Voldemort.

But based on the current evidence, even if they weren’t directly connected, they had to at least know each other. Or maybe…

Harry didn’t dare to think any further. He threw the book back into his trunk, said good night to Evan, and rolled over to get ready for bed. In his drowsiness, his thoughts drifted to werewolves and Snape, Stan Shunpike and the Half-Blood Prince, and he finally fell into an uneasy sleep full of creeping shadows and the cries of bitten children. …

On the other side of the room, Evan sighed.

Under the dim light, he looked at the densely packed small characters on the magic book in his hand. He felt dizzy and his thoughts became increasingly unfocused.

The homeland of the house-elves, where exactly was this place?

He thought again about the clues and plans he currently had, and felt that there were too many uncertainties.

Evan pondered deeply until he heard a faint sound from outside the door. Surprised, he watched as the door was pushed open just a crack.

A white cat carefully crawled in through the gap. It was Hermione!

She tilted her head slightly to the right and looked at Evan with bright eyes. She looked very cute.

“Hermione?” Evan whispered, sitting up in bed.

What was she planning to do here? A night raid?! Or a surprise event on Christmas Eve?!

Though surprised, Evan didn’t reject the idea. In fact, he thought it was quite nice.

He lifted the quilt and waved to the white cat, motioning her to get on the bed.

However, they would have to keep their voices down. The room was too small and Harry and Ron were right next to him.

Hermione didn’t jump up. Instead, she waved her paw at Evan, motioning for him to follow her.

Hmm, was she suggesting they change the battlefield?

Evan glanced at Harry and Ron, who were sound asleep, then reached out to turn off the lamp.

In an instant, a black cat leaped gracefully from Evan’s bed and swiftly slipped through the crack in the door.

In the corridor, Evan followed Hermione, unsure of their destination. The Burrow was too small, not soundproof, and had no privacy. It was nothing like the Black family’s old house, and going outside in this weather would be freezing.

If possible, he could Apparate with Hermione to find a better place. Number Twelve Grimmauld Place, Diagon Alley, or a Muggle street or hotel would all be good choices, as long as they were back before tomorrow morning.

It was Christmas Eve, after all! People were definitely celebrating outside, why go to bed so early!

Evan’s thoughts wandered until he suddenly realized that Hermione was leading him to Ginny’s room?

What kind of development was this? This was not a good choice. Just like before, Elaine and Ginny were still inside.

Especially Elaine, she was a total night owl and would definitely notice them.

Confused, Evan followed Hermione into Ginny’s room and saw the girls sitting on their beds in their pajamas, grinning at him.

Hermione shifted back into her human form, skillfully scooped Evan up in her arms, and shut the door behind them.

Something was wrong. Seeing Hermione was about to hand him over to Elaine, Evan quickly jumped out of her arms.

He jumped onto Hermione’s bed, transformed back into human form, and asked, “What do you three want?”

“A surprise event on Christmas Eve!” said Elaine. “We talked it over and decided to bring you here for something special.”

“Yeah, you can do whatever you want tonight,” Ginny added with a smile.

“Stop joking and speak properly,” said Evan. Were these three under the influence of a strong love potion or something?

“What are you even thinking? We just couldn’t sleep and wanted you to come sing with us,” said Hermione.

She climbed onto the bed and kicked Evan toward the foot of it.

“Sing?”

“That’s right, just singing. But we have to keep our voices down so Mum doesn’t hear us,” said Ginny.

“Singing, why did you call me over?” Evan asked, having a little idea of the current situation.

“It’s boring with just the three of us. And we brought you here because you won’t get caught by Mrs. Weasley. Plus, if anything unexpected happens, you can handle it,” said Hermione, as she snatched the blanket from Evan’s hands.

Alright, so Evan had been expecting a surprise, and this was indeed a surprise!

On Christmas Eve, being called into a girls’ room to sing… and the reason? Because he wouldn’t get caught and could handle any unexpected situations.

Evan wasn’t sure whether he should be happy or upset right now.

He sat at the end of Hermione’s bed, stretched his legs under the covers, and reluctantly sang a song at Elaine’s request.

Maybe because he sang so badly, Hermione even kicked his right leg midway through.

Of course, Evan wouldn’t just let that slide, so he tangled with her right back…

The next morning, when Evan woke up, he felt exhausted both physically and mentally!

Hermione, Elaine, and Ginny had been way too excited last night, keeping things going for hours. But to be fair, their singing was actually pretty good.

Especially Elaine. The first time Evan met her was on that Christmas night, and he was drawn in by her song.
