Harry Potter and the Secret Treasures

When it came to Malfoy, Harry had a particular obsession. He was convinced that Malfoy knew something.

In fact, he even believed that Malfoy had joined Voldemort’s army and become a Death Eater.

There was no reason or basis for this suspicion, but that was what Harry thought. He suggested investigating Malfoy, using Polyjuice Potion to transform into Goyle and Crabbe, sneaking into the Slytherin common room to extract information, or using the Invisibility Cloak…

“We need to find out what Voldemort’s planning. Malfoy definitely knows something,” said Harry. “It’s very important.”

“You’re too sensitive, Harry. Malfoy’s just a student. Voldemort wouldn’t tell him anything important,” said Hermione disapprovingly, not quite agreeing with Harry’s idea.

Harry shook his head. In his opinion, Hermione was too naive.

The Malfoys were all Death Eaters, and they dealt with Death Eaters, so how could Draco not know anything?

Before Harry could convince Hermione, Mr. and Mrs. Weasley appeared. They hurried over, each clutching heavy packages of books everyone would need for the new term.

“Everyone all right?” said Mrs. Weasley. “Got your robes? Right then, we can pop in at the Apothecary and Eeylops Owl Emporium on the way to Fred and George’s — stick close, now. …”

Fred and George’s shop was located deep in Diagon Alley, close to Knockturn Alley.

Because of its proximity to Knockturn Alley, wizards usually avoided the area, and the rent of shops nearby had always been very cheap.

Especially in times like these, prices were incredibly low, almost unthinkably so.

Fred and George had originally planned to rent a shop, but after asking the price, they decided to use the money they had saved in the past few years and Evan’s sponsorship to buy the shop at 102 Diagon Alley.

The two brothers had transformed this unremarkable shop according to their own ideas. While the shop fronts around them were dull and poster-muffled, Fred and George’s windows hit the eye like a firework display.

Attracted by the cheerful music, casual passersby couldn’t help but look back over their shoulders at the windows, and a few rather stunned-looking people had actually come to a halt, transfixed.

In any case, this place was like a playground.

A huge hot air balloon was floating above the store with a banner displaying the name of Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes. Even from a long distance, it could be clearly seen. No other store in Diagon Alley had ever advertised like that.

Under the hot air balloon stood large twin figures of Fred and George in the middle of the shop. They were constantly tipping their hats and then putting them back on.

With exaggerated voices, they loudly welcomed passersby, drawing people inside.

It was impossible to miss — it stood out too much. No one could ignore this store.

Gringotts had previously been the landmark of Diagon Alley, but now it had been replaced by Fred and George’s shop.

As they got closer, they could see that the left-hand window of the store was colorful and dazzlingly full of an assortment of goods that revolved, popped, flashed, bounced, and shrieked. The colors were so intense that after staring at them for a while, their eyes began to water. ṞáNȰ𝖇ЁŜ

The right-hand window was covered with a gigantic poster, purple like those of the Ministry, but emblazoned with flashing yellow letters:

WHY ARE YOU WORRYING ABOUT

YOU-KNOW-WHO?

YOU SHOULD BE WORRYING ABOUT

U-NO-POO—

THE CONSTIPATION SENSATION

THAT’S GRIPPING THE NATION!

“My goodness!” Mrs. Weasley moaned weakly.

She gazed, dumbfounded, at the poster, her lips moving silently, mouthing the name “U-No-Poo.”

“They’ll be murdered in their beds!” she whispered.

“No they won’t!” Ron laughed. “This is brilliant!”

“I think it’s great, too,” said Harry.

“Fred and George’s humor,” Evan asked. “What’s U-No-Poo? Their new product?”

“Yes, in addition to U-No-Poo, they have a lot of products or advertisements that make fun of Voldemort,” said Hermione seriously. She had been helping Fred and George manage advertisements and knew what they had produced. “I told them they should be careful, but they both think it’s hilarious…”

“But it is really funny. You’re too tense, Hermione.”

“They shouldn’t be joking about You-Know-Who, these two lads!” said Mr. Weasley helplessly.

Evan and the others followed Harry and Ron into the store, which was packed with customers.

The students who had come to Diagon Alley to buy back-to-school supplies now all gathered here, crowding in front of the shelves, taking out their pocket money to buy Fred and George’s joke products.

On the left side of the shop, boxes were piled up to the ceiling: Here were the Skiving Snackboxes that the twins had perfected during their last year at Hogwarts. The most popular was the Nosebleed Nougat, with only one battered box left on the shelf. There were also bins full of trick wands, the cheapest merely turning into rubber, chicken or pairs of briefs when waved, the most expensive beating the unwary user around the head and neck.

There were also boxes of quills, which came in Self-Inking, Spell-Checking, and Smart-Answer varieties.

“When did they have so many products? There were only a few before,” Ron exclaimed.

After leaving Hogwarts, Fred and George had developed new products at a significantly faster pace.

The two of them had put an unimaginable amount of passion into this, and in just a few short months, they had produced more new products than they had in previous years. Many items that had only been theoretical before had now been brought to life.

A space cleared in the crowd, and Harry and Ron pushed their way toward the counter on the other side, where a gaggle of delighted ten-year-olds was watching a tiny little wooden man slowly ascending the steps to a real set of gallows, both perched on a box that read: REUSABLE HANGMAN — SPELL IT OR HE’LL SWING!

Hangman was a guessing game, usually consisting of a gallows and a tiny figure. If a player made a certain number of spelling mistakes, the figure would be placed on the gallows and executed.

Evan and Hermione stopped in front of a large display case near the door, which contained a bottle of potion.

“’Patented Daydream Charms …’” Hermione read out, “What’s this? Another new product, I’ve never heard of it.”

In the center of the display case was a highly colored picture of a handsome youth and a swooning girl who were standing on the deck of a pirate ship.

“’One simple incantation and you will enter a top-quality, highly realistic, thirty-minute daydream, easy to fit into the average school lesson and virtually undetectable,” Hermione continued reading. “(Side effects include vacant expression and minor drooling). Not for sale to under-sixteens.’”

“Amazing, sounds a bit like a Dream Potion…” said Evan, “but without the hypnotic effects. They must have added something to it.”
