Chapter 357: Chapter 14: The Tianqing Alliance Leader Who Infiltrated the Enemy Alone (Happy New Year)

The Ancestral Demon Tree was extremely irritable.

Watching helplessly as the Evil God Battlefield it had established gradually collapsed was a grating experience.

Even for It, remaking an Evil God Battlefield would require a huge sacrifice and take up thousands to tens of thousands of years.

But now.

It was gone.

The loss of the Evil God Battlefield, combined with the substantial Origin Power given to Lin Yuan,

...
made the Ancestral Demon Tree feel like a gambler who had lost all his trump cards.

If It couldn’t descend to the Tianqing World to make up for the losses, this time It would be utterly ruined and It had no idea if It could ever recover.

“Ancestor, what has happened?”

Lin Yuan pretended to be ignorant and asked with concern.

After all, in the eyes of the Ancestral Demon Tree, he was still struggling to survive in the Tianqing World.

Even with the abundant Origin Power given by the Ancestral Demon Tree, what place was the Tianqing World?

Exposing any trace of himself would attract the attack of countless powerhouses, and might even catch the attention of the Tianqing Alliance Leader holding the World Sword.

“My strength has been greatly depleted, the Tianqing Alliance Leader found a weakness, and now almost has the control of the battleground…”

The Ancestral Demon Tree did not elaborate further.

Instead, It directly asked, “I’ve given you so much Origin Power over the years, why are you still growing so slowly?”

Quite obviously.

The Ancestral Demon Tree was already somewhat dissatisfied with Lin Yuan.

Over the past hundred years, the Demon Essence It had invested in Lin Yuan could probably have created several Sixth Stage Demon Trees.

Even though different offspring of Demon Trees have varied degrees of absorption of Origin Power, even the worst qualified ones should have almost reached the Fifth Stage by now.

“Ancestor, I’m so useless… I’ve been hunted down by Demon Beast Kings many times, left critically injured and dying, and could only use the Origin Power you bestowed for healing…”

Lin Yuan had his answer prepared and quickly said it.

This reason was flawless; the Black Mist Mountain Range was home to a multitude of Demonic Beasts and even Demon Beast Kings.

It was inevitable for Lin Yuan to be noticed during his growth, as it was difficult to contain the evil aura of the Demon Trees.

Facing Sixth Rank Demon Beast Kings, Lin Yuan was not yet able to resist, and once held up, attracting more Demon Beast Kings would only make the situation worse.

So he could only be hunted down.

“Using my Origin Power to heal wounds…”

The Ancestral Demon Tree’s heart bled—if Lin Yuan absorbed the Origin Power to enhance himself, then after being devoured by It, that Origin Power could come back.

But healing wounds…

That was a total loss.

“However, Ancestor, I have now grown to the peak of the Fourth Rank, just a step away from advancing to the Fifth Stage…”

Lin Yuan said again.

“Peak of the Fourth Rank?”

The mood of the Ancestral Demon Tree improved slightly.

This was the only good news It had heard so far.

“How long will it take for you to grow to the Fifth Stage?”

The Ancestral Demon Tree inquired.

Once Lin Yuan grew to the Fifth Stage, his Life Essence would be strong enough to open a stable space channel.

“I should be able to do it within five years,”

Lin Yuan thought for a moment and answered.

Five years was an incredibly short time for a life form like the Demon Tree from beyond the realm.

“No, no,”

“Five years is too long,”

The Ancestral Demon Tree shook its head.

This wasn’t about time—it was that considering the current situation in the Evil God Battlefield, numerous powerhouses would probably return to the Tianqing World in five years.

After all, the war had ended.

By then, even if Lin Yuan opened a space channel, there would be risks for It when descending.

“Here’s what we’ll do: I’ll send you some more Origin Power, and you force a breakthrough to try and reach the Fifth Stage within a year.”

The Ancestral Demon Tree assessed itself.

Its own Origin Power was now only seventy percent of what it was at its prime.

Still, It painfully took out twenty percent of Its Origin Power and sent it to Lin Yuan without hesitation.

In the eyes of the Ancestral Demon Tree, Lin Yuan was Its only hope. As long as Lin Yuan could grow to the Fifth Stage, the investment It had made could at least be mostly recouped, if not entirely.

“Ancestor… Ancestor, isn’t this too much?”

Lin Yuan, overjoyed by the Origin Power sent by the Ancestral Demon Tree, asked with pretended concern, “Ancestor, won’t you be affected by losing so much Origin Power at once?”

“It’s not a big deal,”

The Ancestral Demon Tree said through gritted teeth.

In truth, the impact was significant; faced with the Tianqing Alliance Leader wielding the World Sword, even the Ancestral Demon Tree with only fifty percent of its Origin Power would have to flee far away.

But as long as It could descend into the Tianqing World, everything would be worth it.

Even a weakened Ancestral Demon Tree was still a Foreign Evil God. As long as It could enter the interior of the World, It could, through a certain secret technique inherent to Its Talent, fuse into the Origin Vast Ocean of the World.

Then, the Origin Power of the entire Tianqing World would be Its feast.

Of course, the execution of the secret technique Talent required time, but the Ancestral Demon Tree was confident that It would catch all the powerhouses of the Tianqing World off guard, with no time to stop Itself.

“Then, Ancestor, rest assured, I will definitely complete your task,”

Lin Yuan said solemnly.

“Just establish the space channel, and I will reward you well…”

The Ancestral Demon Tree still didn’t forget to ‘promise rewards’ up till now.

…

In the deepest depths of the Black Mist Mountain Range.

Lin Yuan cut off the connection with the Ancestral Demon Tree.

“It should be very weak by now…”

Lin Yuan judged internally that the Origin Power just bestowed by the Ancestral Demon Tree was almost half of what he had been given in the past.

With such a large one-time loss of Origin Power, Lin Yuan could guess even without thinking too hard that the Ancestral Demon Tree was in poor condition.

It was relying on him to turn the tide.

…

Outside the Tianqing World.

The vast Evil God Battlefield.
