Chapter 29: Chapter 26 Mr. Liao’s Request

“Who is looking for my son?”

Lin Shoucheng stood up and asked.

In his mind, he went through the guest list again.

He confirmed that all the relatives who were supposed to come had arrived, with no one missing.

Could it be that a relative decided on a whim to come without informing them in advance?

Lin Shoucheng couldn’t help but feel suspicious.

...
“It’s Mr. Chu.”

The staff member saw this and let out a slight sigh of relief.

There was no helping it, since Chu Corporation had a year-round cooperation with Fanxing.

Just now, the founder of Chu Corporation had visited personally to see Lin Yuan, which had really startled her.

Luckily, the person in question was indeed there.

“Mr. Chu?”

Everyone at the family banquet was slightly stunned.

Last name Chu?

That wasn’t a member of the Lin Family, was it?

While everyone was quietly discussing among themselves,

a bearded man walked in with a teenager who appeared to be seventeen or eighteen years old.

The man with the beard was dressed plainly, but the air of authority he exuded was unmistakable, very similar to those who wield power and influence.

“Is he, is he the founder of Chu Corporation?”

Someone at the event seemed to realize something and couldn’t help exclaiming.

In the interstellar era, the internet is widespread, and the photos of any moderately famous citizen are circulated.

As one of the top fifty enterprises in Dongning City, Chu Corporation naturally had a huge reputation, and even if its founder was low-key, people would still recognize him.

“The founder of Chu Corporation?”

“My God? He is a big shot in our Dongning City.”

“It is said that Chu Corporation has assets worth tens of billions, and the founder is a well-known tycoon in the neighboring cities.”

“Such a big shot is here to see Lin Yuan?”

…

Suddenly, the people at the event started to talk amongst themselves, some even connected to the internet on the spot to compare the bearded man with photos online.

“Director Chu.”

Lin Jieye dashed over, standing excitedly in front of the man with the beard, “We met six years ago. Back then, it was your corporation that bought that plot of land in the suburbs.”

“Hmm…”

The bearded man responded noncommittally.

In fact, he didn’t remember Lin Jieye at all.

“Is Mr. Lin here too?”

The bearded man glanced around, and upon spotting Lin Hao sitting at the main seat, he nodded slightly as a greeting.

He then quickly walked over to Lin Yuan, pulling along the teenager behind him, who was Chu Shiyu.

“Mr. Lin, this junior of mine has been remiss, I hope you will not hold it against him.”

The bearded man’s posture was extremely humble, showing none of the airs of an elder.

“It’s nothing.”

Lin Yuan glanced at Chu Shiyu, who was standing by with an air of restraint, and immediately thought of the recent encounter in the coffee shop, shaking his head as he spoke.

“How did you find this place?”

Lin Yuan asked curiously.

“I originally planned to take Shiyu to visit Mr. Lin’s home today, but after arriving there, I heard from others that Mr. Lin and his family had come to this Fanxing Hotel for a family banquet, so I followed them here,” the bearded man said truthfully.

“I see.”

Lin Yuan nodded slightly.

The family banquet hosted by Lin Shoucheng was not a secret; six or seven out of ten neighbors in the community knew about it.

“This is a small token of my regard, congratulations on Lin Yuan becoming an evolver,”

The bearded man took out an envelope, passing it over with a degree of reverence.

What he respected wasn’t Lin Yuan’s status as an evolver, for evolvers were rare but not unheard of, and even Chu Corporation maintained a team of evolvers.

What the bearded man was truly wary of was the Goddess of Wisdom’s partiality towards Lin Yuan; even attempting to search related information would invite warnings from the goddess.

Even a fool would know Lin Yuan was no ordinary person, as no one receives warnings from the goddess when searching for information about a founder of a corporation like him.

“Understood.”

Lin Yuan said without a care.

He hadn’t taken the incident at the coffee shop to heart; in fact, nothing much had happened.

What Lin Yuan did not know was the extent of the uproar his conversation with the bearded man had caused among the many relatives present.

After recognizing the bearded man’s identity, some had begun to wonder if they had mistaken someone else for him.

Perhaps the ‘Mr. Lin Yuan’ the bearded man addressed was just someone with the same name as Lin Shoucheng’s son.

After all, Lin Yuan had just become an Evolver; how could he have such an extensive network to know a big shot like the bearded man?

It was only when the bearded man walked up to Lin Yuan and spoke with him that everyone realized there had been no mistake about the person he was looking for.

The founder of Chu Corporation was indeed looking for Lin Yuan.

“Lin Yuan…”

Lin Jieye’s expression fluctuated between light and shadow.

Just moments ago, he had been ready to offer Lin Yuan an opportunity to come and work for him, with the demeanor of a senior relative.

He had even casually offered a salary of twenty thousand a month.

Yet, not long after, the founder of Chu Corporation, whom he couldn’t even look up to, was standing in front of Lin Yuan with a very humble attitude.

“My nephew…”

Lin Hao, seated at the main seat, fell into deep thought.

In the eyes of others, the bearded man was a significant figure.

But for Lin Hao, he was just a businessman, at best a somewhat successful businessman.

What surprised Lin Hao, however, was that the bearded man, wealthy as he was, how could he speak to Lin Yuan in that tone?

Knock, knock, knock.

The door of the private room was knocked on again.

“Is this Mr. Lin Yuan’s room?”

A voice full of vigor came through.

Ah?

Someone else was looking for Lin Yuan?

Following the example of the bearded man, the people present did not dare to take it lightly; Lin Shoucheng personally went forward to open the door of the room.

Under everyone’s watchful eyes, a man with a ramrod-straight posture walked in.

Following him was a 17 or 18-year-old youth, Huo Qingyao.

“Who is this person?”

The people at the family banquet began to search online, but found no relevant information.

“This shouldn’t be another big shot, right?”

Everyone let out a sigh of relief.

All had been severely rattled by the bearded man, thinking that Lin Yuan must possess some terrifying identity.

It seemed now they might have been overthinking it; the bearded man’s attitude towards Lin Yuan was likely just a coincidence.

Just as everyone’s tense hearts began to settle.

Lin Hao, who originally occupied the primary seat and even received a greeting from the bearded man, suddenly stood up.

“Colonel Huo?”

There was a hint of disbelief in Lin Hao’s voice.

Military information is always confidential, and it’s very difficult for ordinary people to find any on the network without certain privileges.

But Lin Hao was different; as a secretary to the director, his permissions were much broader, and he had access to much more information.

“Mr. Lin, the Secretary?”

Huo Yanming glanced at Lin Hao and nodded in acknowledgment.

He then stepped aside, allowing another figure to walk in leisurely.

“Mr. Liao?”

If seeing Huo Yanming only shocked Lin Hao, as the military and the government were separate systems and no one could interfere with the other.

Then seeing the person behind Huo Yanming made Lin Hao’s scalp tingle.

Mr. Liao.

President of the Dongning City Evolvers Association.

A second-tier citizen whose status and position could easily rank him within the top five in Dongning City.

Encountering such an influential figure, even Lin Hao’s director had to greet him carefully.

“Could it be.”

“Mr. Liao is also here for Xiaoyuan?”

An unthinkable notion suddenly crossed Lin Hao’s mind.
