Comprehension Ability: Creating and teaching the Dao in various worlds

Chapter 2: Chapter 1 Conscription_2

The original body had bought all kinds of lottery tickets for over ten years and had never won once,

Yet with just a one in a hundred thousand chance, he was conscripted right away…

Upon returning home,

Lin Yuan found his parents and even his young sister, who rarely sat in her seat, were there.

She gazed at the cake in front of her, drooling, but dared not reach out for it.

“Xiaoyuan…..”

...
Mother Lu Qiong stood up, her gaze upon Lin Yuan full of words she seemed unable to express.

Father Lin Shoucheng was frowning, sitting there deep in thought.

Obviously, the news of Lin Yuan being drafted had already reached home.

Even more, compared to Lin Yuan, his parents had known about it earlier.

“There might still be room for maneuver with the conscription,”

“Tomorrow I will go see your uncle and ask him to pull some strings on your behalf,” Father Lin Shoucheng spoke.

The uncle he referred to was a distant relative,

Currently holding a position in a certain research institute with quite a few connections.

“No need.”

Lin Yuan shook his head.

The conscription policy was decreed by the government.

Not to mention an employee of some unknown research institute,

Even the Canglan Star Governor would have to pay a hefty price to make a change.

Of course,

If Lin Yuan truly had connections with the governor,

His name would not appear on the conscription list at all.

Before the conscription list is finalized, spending money and using connections

Might give hope to not being listed.

But once the list is set, it’s difficult to be removed.

“I’m a bit tired.”

“I’m going back to my room.”

After eating a bit, Lin Yuan got up and returned to his room.

“How to be excluded from the conscription list…”

Lin Yuan lay back on the soft bed, still harboring a sliver of hope.

“Connect to the Goddess of Wisdom.”

After pondering for a moment, Lin Yuan sat up.

The Goddess of Wisdom is one of the three major goddesses of the Cosmic Human Alliance.

She is the core intelligence processing system of the whole civilization, commanding the operation of the civilization, responsible for all the affairs of all citizens of the human civilization, strictly monitoring any abnormal behavior, making sure it adheres to the civilization’s charter in all operations.

In the over two million years of the Starry Sea Era, the civilization of humankind could sweep over many alien races, thanks in no small part to the work of the three goddesses.

If not for the three goddesses’ absolutely selfless handling of affairs, the cosmic human civilization might have perished in internal strife long ago, how could it develop to such a vast, splendid, and dazzling civilization?

Humans have emotions, can have cognitive biases toward things, and can be influenced by emotions to make incorrect decisions, but the three goddesses do not.

The stance of the three goddesses is always for the entire human civilization, with no selfishness, always maintaining fairness.

The Goddess of Wisdom that Lin Yuan is connecting to, of course, is not the main consciousness of the real Goddess of Wisdom.

It is a minuscule sub-consciousness derived from her, a privilege that every citizen possesses.

“Cosmic Level One Citizen Lin Yuan, please state your question.”

An electronic synthesized voice, through the omnipresent network, rang in Lin Yuan’s ears.

“I want to know, what are the conditions for exemption from forced conscription?”

Lin Yuan organized his language and asked.

“Forced conscription originates from Article 156 of the charter, intended to maintain the stability of human civilization and for warfare against others; all human citizens have a duty to comply with conscription.”

“The following three conditions can exempt one from forced conscription.”

“One: Evolvers, humans who are on the path of evolution, are the hope of human civilization, and have the privilege to refuse the policy of forced conscription.”

Evolvers… Lin Yuan’s expression was complex.

In the lengthy history of the Starry Sea Era, evolvers were no secret.

There were many ways to become an evolver,

Mainly divided into unique-type evolvers and common-type evolvers.

Unique-type evolvers are easy to understand, not widely available or replicable evolvers.

For instance, certain evolutionary families that passed their traits through bloodlines belong to this category.

There are also individuals who have gone through an unrepeatable unique process, experienced mutations, and gained extraordinary powers.

They are also deemed unique-type evolvers.

As for common-type evolvers… they are humans who have embarked on a stable evolutionary path.

For example, genetic warriors who have taken expensive gene medicine to step onto the path of evolution.

Or spirit masters, who became killing machines through brutal training and torture,

Combined with specific cultivation methods, and so on.

Any stable evolutionary path is incredibly precious,

It is the valuable knowledge explored by countless ancestors at the cost of their lives.

“I suppose I’m just an ordinary person…”

Lin Yuan sighed.

Being ordinary meant he had no connection with unique-type evolvers.

If Lin Yuan wanted to become an evolver, he could only consider the common path of evolution.

However, that is not something that happens overnight, although a few paths like that of genetic warriors might be fast-tracked.

But such speed depends on the costly gene medicine and other treasures,

In the Cosmic Human Alliance, gene medicine is a tightly controlled product.

Ordinary people have absolutely no means of purchasing eligibility.

Even if we step back ten thousand steps, Lin Yuan couldn’t afford it even if the gene potion were placed right in front of him.

As Lin Yuan was pondering,

the cold, indifferent synthesized electronic voice sounded again.

“Two: Cosmic fourth-level citizens have a privilege exemption every ten years, which can be used to avoid forced conscription.”

“Fourth-level citizen…”

A slight twitch appeared at the corner of Lin Yuan’s mouth.

In the Starry Sea Era, Year Yuan, human civilization had established a citizen level system.

Citizens are divided into twelve levels, and the higher the level, the more privileges they enjoy.

The way to improve one’s citizen level is to make contributions to human civilization.

This is supervised and implemented by three goddesses, and is absolutely fair.

Therefore…

It is extremely difficult to raise one’s citizen level.

Nearly ninety-nine percent of citizens remain at level one from birth until death.

Of course, this is accompanied by many benefits for high-level citizens.

From level four citizens onward, one has a privilege exemption every ten years.

They can forgive the sentences of citizens below serious criminals.

Forced conscription is also included.

However,

with the Lin Family’s current connections, where could he even begin to meet a fourth-level citizen?

You should know that the entire population of Canglan Star, with its fifty billion permanent residents,

has only one citizen who has reached the fourth level.

That person is the Canglan Star Governor.

A major figure holding the life and death of billions of citizens in their hands.

“What about the third option?”

Lin Yuan couldn’t help but ask.

“Three: Contribute to the human civilization and rise to a second-level citizen, then you can be exempted from forced conscription.”

The synthesized electronic voice came once more.

But it made Lin Yuan fall silent again.

A second-level citizen, even if not an evolver, has a status no lower than most evolvers.

The privileges held by evolvers are naturally also available to second-level citizens.

However…

This is even harder than becoming an evolver.

At least Lin Yuan knows how to become an evolver, even if he can’t accomplish it.

But to be promoted to a second-level citizen, one needs a contribution that can be recognized by the Goddess of Wisdom, which is completely clueless.

“What specific actions can be considered contributions?”

Lin Yuan probed further.

“Providing a brand-new evolutionary path will be rewarded with a huge contribution.”

The synthesized electronic voice sounded again.

Vaguely, Lin Yuan realized…

the Goddess of Wisdom places great importance on brand-new evolutionary paths.

Otherwise, she wouldn’t offer a tremendous contribution as a reward.

“Let’s think of other methods.”

Lin Yuan rubbed his temples as he considered the three scenarios provided by the Goddess of Wisdom.

None of them were possible for him at the moment.

Especially the last one, providing a brand-new evolutionary path?

If Lin Yuan had such an ability, he would have already ascended to a second-level citizen, why would he be worrying about forced conscription?

Unconsciously, it had already reached midnight.

Lin Yuan gradually fell into a deep sleep.

Suddenly.

At this moment,

a strange suction pulled Lin Yuan’s consciousness toward his mind.

And deep in his mind, a grand, towering gate of light appeared.

Inside the gate was a pale blue light curtain.

It rippled like water, continuously undulating.

“What is this?”

Lin Yuan exclaimed in surprise.

He then woke up from his sleep.

“It wasn’t a dream.”

After waking up, Lin Yuan could still sense the gate of light deep within his mind.

At the same time,

rows of illusory text flashed through his field of view.
