Forty Millenniums of Cultivation

“That explains a lot. From ‘distraction’ to ‘fusion’!

Li Yao had read before, so naturally, he knew the classification of the “Four Universities of Cultivation”—beginning from the Divinity Transformation Stage, it was the highest level to break through the limits of human beings, and the Dividing Soul Stage and the Form Synthesis Stage were even more mysterious and incomprehensible. There was no pattern to their training, either. They were like deities and devils.

Li Yao could somewhat understand the formidability of the Dividing Soul Stage. An expert could transform into thousands of clones. Billions of telepathic thoughts equaled to billions of soldiers. One person equaled to the combat ability of an army. Wasn’t it strong enough?

However, Li Yao had never been able to understand how strong a Cultivator in the Form Synthesis Stage was. Now that his soul could be divided into billions of pieces, wouldn’t it be redundant to reunite them?

Now that he heard Red Pole’s explanation, he realized that it did make sense. Countless clones would be cast into the endless reincarnation of the mortal world and experience different waves and emotions in different rivers of life. In the end, they would be reunited and give birth to a new Li Yao in the intense resonation. The strength of billions of people would be concentrated in his body. How strong would he be?

“Just like that, countless soul fragments were dedicated to the brand-new journey of life and the road of resistance. Some of the soul fragments encountered each other by accident and attracted each other. They melded together and formed a relatively large fragment. Gradually, I was able to recall some of my past. I even realized that my ‘previous life’ was a Cultivator in the depths of the endless sea of stars. That’s me.”

“But that was not enough,” the Red Pole Star said. “I was in a muddle-headed, confused state in the previous few reincarnations. Although I knew that I was carrying out an important mission and that I was going to carry out a plan named ‘Vulture’ to break out of the damn cage, I still didn’t know who I was in my previous life, what I had experienced, and how I teleported to Earth from the other side of the sea of stars. The key information was still hidden in the endless darkness. Therefore, I was far less powerful than I am right now.

“I was one of the luckier ones, because I had swallowed enough soul fragments in the previous reincarnations and recovered a lot of information about Li Yao’s personality, memories, and thinking patterns. I was able to pursue my past.

“But most of the broken pieces of the soul are scattered in every corner of the Prison of Reincarnation. Some of them are even hibernating in the depths of somebody’s soul forever. Most of the people who received Li Yao’s soul pieces had their wings broken, their claws removed, and their fighting will diminished like Master Zhang Jiashu. For them, it was not a gift of hope but a great disaster.

“Even if I had all the resources of the Ark Foundation, it would still be impossible for me to locate all the people who had ‘Li Yao’s soul fragments’. Besides, it would cause too much of a stir. The Heaven’s Origin Sector would certainly notice it and intercept it in advance. They might even locate the ‘Ark Island’ through the clue.

Li Yao nodded his head, deep in thought. He glanced at Zhang Daniu from the corner of his eyes and suddenly thought of something. He said excitedly, “Therefore, you will project the information stream of so that all the heroic spirits contaminated by Li Yao’s soul fragments will awaken and come to your side!”

“The way you and I think is exactly the same. I thought so, too. It’s a pity that it was not me but somebody else.

Red Pole Star paused for a moment and pointed at the sky. “Someone from outer space, or rather, a certain force in the universe.”

“What?”

Li Yao and Zhang Daniu were both dazed.

“As I said, before the reincarnation, or more precisely, before I saw the novel ‘Forty Thousand Years of Cultivator’, although I became the leader of all the Hell Breakers, I didn’t realize that I was ‘Cultivator Li Yao’. Therefore, how could I have guided Master Niu to write ‘Forty Thousand Years of Cultivator’?”

“But it is not right to say that Master Niu made up an absurd, nonexistent story named ‘Forty Thousand Years of Cultivation’ based on his own inspiration.

“Master Niu, you should know who the so-called ‘observers’ are, and you should know that your situation is different from most of the other observers, right? The reason is simple. There are two kinds of observers in total, namely ‘Type 1’ and ‘Type 2’.

‘Type-1 Observer and Type-2 Observer?

Li Yao and Zhang Daniu looked at each other in bewilderment. “What does that mean?”

“Type-1 Observers are the vast majority of Observers that we’ve seen in the past. They boast special abilities that allow them to see the mottled shadows of themselves dozens of times, or even hundreds of thousands of times, before they are reincarnated. Based on the broken, colorful memories, they create fantasy worlds in various forms. They are called ‘fantasies’, but they are actually history and reality that happened a long time ago.

The Red Pole Star explained, “Type-1 Observers are often the witnesses of their creation of a fantasy world. It is something that cannot be erased even after hundreds of thousands of reincarnations. That’s why they can devote a lot of their feelings into their work and make it feel so vivid. Even the crudest words and strokes are deeply moved.

“Master Niu, on the other hand, is the second type, or rather, the unique ‘Type-2 Observer’. You are not recalling your memories actively but reflecting them passively. You are like a mirror facing the sun. The imaginary world you create is almost always a reflection of the information stream from outer space. Do you understand?”

Zhang Daniu was dumbfounded. He shook his head hard. “I don’t understand.”

“Let’s put it this way. Cultivator Li Yao has made a bunch of very good friends in the four universes of cultivation. It can be seen from the previous chapters that, regardless of the stance and beliefs of these friends, after going through so much wind and rain, they have already been deeply impressed by Cultivator Li Yao’s glorious image, his sacred personality, his noble sentiments, his unyielding will, and his blood-stained demeanor. If they knew that Cultivator Li Yao was in prison, do you think they would just stand by and watch?”

The Red Pole Star asked solemnly.

“Uh…”

Li Yao and Zhang Daniu scratched their chins together, somewhat uncertain. “Probably, maybe, no matter what, they wouldn’t just stand by and watch, right?”

“That’s right. If my friends and family knew that Cultivator Li Yao infiltrated Earth in the state of ‘a blank sheet of paper’, they would definitely try to rescue him or even fight side by side with him to destroy the planet.

“And if you want to rescue Li Yao and destroy Earth, the simplest and most effective way is to let Li Yao recover all his memories first, condense a brand-new soul, and rise from the ashes!”

“After all, Li Yao is a ‘humanoid self-made natural disaster generator’ that brings disaster wherever he goes. As long as the real Li Yao is woken up, the earth might be destroyed automatically without doing anything.

“Therefore, I estimate that, on the level of the universe, ‘Li Yao’s Family’, led by Ding Lingdang, must’ve developed a new information warfare weapon that can bypass the defense of the will of the earth and project the information to the planet without anybody knowing.

“However, since they did not know exactly where Li Yao was and what state he was in, it was impossible for them to project the information to the thousands of pieces precisely even if there were thousands of pieces. Therefore, they needed a medium or a carrier that could allow most of the soul pieces to perceive the information.

“That was the purpose of the novel ‘40,000 Years of Cultivation’. They chose Master Niu, the ‘type-2 Observer’, as the medium to illuminate the entire Earth with the light from the depths of the universe!

Red Pole’s words cast Li Yao and Zhang Daniu into a long silence.

“Why—why me?”

Zhang Daniu was stunned for half a minute before he finally came back to himself and stammered.

“Good question. I’ve pondered the answer for a long time, too.

Red Extremity said, “Why you? In terms of fame, you are unknown or even notorious. In terms of character, you will never be able to withstand the interrogation of the Heaven’s Origin Sector for half an hour. It’s very likely that you will kneel and surrender the moment you are captured. As for the thesis pen, there’s no need to mention it. Don’t hit someone in the face, right? There are clearly many more suitable candidates than you. Those who are more famous, more determined, and have more integrity and integrity. Of course, they can also choose better authors. Why you?”

“…No. If you have something to say, just say it. There’s no point in beating around the bush. Who did I offend?”

“No. I was complimenting you. On second thought, there is no better candidate than you!”

The Red Pole Star slapped her thigh and said, “In this soul-stirring information war, the most crucial thing is not to wake up Li Yao, but to avoid the detection and scanning of the will of the earth! Think about it. There will be another day to wake up Li Yao if we don’t succeed today. If we don’t succeed in this reincarnation, there might be a next time. As long as we are not discovered, we will be able to gradually influence him and slow him down.

“But if the will of the earth finds out and the enemy is prepared, it will be very difficult to do the same thing again.

“If Ding Lingdang and the rest of them choose a writer who has been famous for a long time, who has a gorgeous vocabulary, a beautiful writing style, and a skillful technique, and has a large number of loyal readers who painstakingly wait all day and shoot the relevant information about the four cultivation universes into the other party’s brain, it’s true that the other party is likely to create a more perfect work. It’s even possible that the work will become popular all over the world and be known by billions of readers. But this way, everything related to the will enter the vision of the Heaven’s Origin Sector and even the will of the Earth. With the other party’s powerful computational ability, it won’t be difficult for them to deduce the whole story, the location of Li Yao’s soul fragment, and even the precise coordinates of the four cultivation universes!”
