Forty Millenniums of Cultivation

Li Yao wanted to say that there was a problem.

Maybe because he had awakened too many memories of the past, he felt that something was not right. A sense of danger enveloped him like a mist.

Right then, a shrill alarm echoed in the storm outside the building. It did not die down until almost a minute later.

Very soon, an Awakener came in and reported the bad news to everybody. Because of the heavy rain, the reservoir in the upper reaches of the city was far higher than the alert level. A dam had collapsed. It wouldn’t be long before the city was flooded.

Li Yao swallowed his words.

Desperate times called for desperate measures. They had no other options. The sooner they left the continent, the better.

Li Yao did not sleep well that night.

All kinds of weird hallucinations were popping up and hovering in his eyes and mind like annoying flies.

His body, which had been further awakened to inhuman strength, was experiencing all kinds of weird uncoordinated feelings, like a malfunctioning machine that needed him to get used to again.

Pictures and videos of natural disasters from all over the world, as well as countless posts that were adding fuel to the fire and asking for more trouble, made him even more worried. He had a feeling that a great catastrophe was coming and there was nowhere to run to.

It was not until dawn that he fell asleep for a while. But soon, he was woken up by the muscular man named ‘Sparda’, one of the companions of the grey mist lady.

Li Yao didn’t know what kind of superpowers this ‘Spartan’ had compared to Uncle Hui, but looking at the helmet and armor on his head, the heavy body armor that was filled with anti-explosion plug-ins, and the sci-fi-styled guns on his back gave him a sense of security.

While the sky was still dark and hazy, the group quietly left the downtown area and headed towards the train station in the suburbs. It was not the bus station that people frequented, but rather an unused freight train station.

Because of the approaching flood and the torrential rain, most of the passenger trains to and from the city had already been suspended. The few routes were packed with people. To take the passenger trains, one had to provide their name, identity card, and other sensitive information. They also had to go through tedious and strict security checks. The humming “lighter” on Li Yao’s waist alone was absolutely impossible to pass through the inspection. If there was a conflict, it would only cause more trouble and delay his precious time.

Therefore, the grey mist lady and the Ark Foundation behind her pulled some strings and got a freight coach. They were asked to leave the place on the freight train as escorts.

Although the conditions of the freight train were not as comfortable as those of passenger trains, the advantage was that all the joints had been broken through. When they arrived at the station, it did not take long before the train was slowly started. Moreover, the space on the train was spacious enough. The entire coach belonged to them, allowing them to calmly arrange defensive measures.

What was even better was that the carriage in front of them was loaded with three specially-modified off-road vehicles. The condition of the vehicles was very good. The fuel tanks were filled with fuel. All kinds of weapons, equipment, and survival tools were on board. Even if something happened to the train, it could abandon the railway and drive on.

The arrangement of the grey mist lady gave Li Yao a more direct understanding of Fang Zhou’s foundation.

However, it did not mean that he could relax much about the perilous journey.

Hua! Hua! Hua! Hua!

Although they had left the city and travelled hundreds of kilometers to the south, the torrential rain did not show any signs of stopping. As far as one’s eyes could reach, it was as if the sky of a million square kilometers was covered in dark clouds. The deep black clouds were like a broken reservoir, pouring large water sources that carried electric currents into the human world.

It was 9:00 a.m. in the morning. The sky was bright and the earth was clear, but the world was still stuck in the bleak darkness. The dark clouds and the mountains far away melded together, giving the impression that the world was collapsing.

The highway parallel to the rail line had completely collapsed. Li Yao saw countless cars blocking the highway. People were crouching in the cars in desperation, looking at the boundless water, unable to move.

Many of the roads had even been divided into lone islands by the flood. Human beings, who were the spirits of all creatures, appeared to be insignificant and powerless in front of the might of nature.

Thankfully, the railway had been newly built a few years ago. Most of the road was built on a high platform ten to twenty meters above the ground. The train was also carrying a lot of supplies that the south was in dire need of. Therefore, the train could still grit its teeth and move forward in the storm and lightning.

However, the air was so heavy that it was about to explode. Everybody was worried that the train might not make it to the border station in the south.

The scene of wandering in the dark night gave Li Yao a very familiar feeling.

He vaguely remembered that the legend of ‘Cultivator Li Yao’ originated from a speeding train in the Thunderstorm Zone of the Star Glory Federation.

If one were to look at it from a different point of view, with his physique that could stir up trouble as well as the fact that he was carrying a crucial person on a train, as well as the lightning and thunder that seemed to be the end of the world, it would be quite strange if nothing happened to him.

Li Yao shook his head hard and pushed the messy thoughts out of his mind. He sized up everyone in the coach.

From the moment he got on the train, Zhang Daniu had been crouching in a corner with his back facing everyone. He typed on the keyboard and continued writing the later chapters of .

Uncle Hui, on the other hand, was reading a comic with rapt attention. Li Yao glanced at the cover. Uh, the name of the comic was .

The muscular man nicknamed ‘Sparta’ was dismantling and touching his weapon. Compared to Li Yao’s hands, which were moving as fast as the wind, his movements were quite slow, but they were full of emotions, as if he were not touching cold steel but his lover’s ass.

The grey mist lady, on the other hand, was operating a specially-modified laptop. She seemed to be communicating with the nest of the Ark Foundation and receiving further instructions from ‘Red Pole’. What was weird was that the wires of the laptop were connected to the head of ‘Ghost Cat’, the last awakened one, and two magnetic patches were stuck to her temples.

What did it mean? Was it safer to transmit information in such a way by treating the human brain as a certain ‘antenna’?

Li Yao was confused.

Perhaps sensing his anxiety and confusion, the grey mist lady closed her computer and sat next to Li Yao again after she finished the information transmission.

Li Yao took the opportunity to ask her about the… ‘fantasy weapons’. Why did the Ark Foundation keep so many weapons that were apparently beyond the level of modern technology? Where did they come from?

The grey mist lady was not clear about the mechanism, either. She could only give Li Yao an example. It was like an area inside a computer that could not be deleted no matter how hard it was formatted. Even though the area seemed to have been erased or altered beyond recognition, all the information inside the area could be restored as long as the key instructions were grasped.

The sci-fi, magical, and even fantasy weapons that seemed to be beyond the era should have been the products of the glamorous and unknown era before the ‘original reincarnation’. They had been created by the heroic spirits in the beginning and hidden in the indestructible space with secret arts. Every time the reincarnation was restarted, the prison breakers would awaken their ancient memories and find the lost ultimate weapons.

To this day, Li Yao was still unclear about the classification of the strength of the awakened. Therefore, Ms. Gray Mist simply took the opportunity to give a brief introduction to Li Yao.

Whether it was the Hell Breakers or the Prison Guardians, they were all classified into the same level of awakening. Those who had just awakened and could vaguely recall the first five reincarnations were called ‘beginners’, those who could recall six to ten reincarnations were called ‘deepers’, and those who could recall more than ten reincarnations were called ‘finalists’.

The reason for the division was that the heroes imprisoned in the prison of reincarnation were weaker and weaker as they were reincarnated more and more. The fact that they could retrieve more ancient memories meant that they had stronger abilities, unbelievable techniques, and were almost as destructive as the deities.

In this life, the awakening of the memories from more than ten reincarnations was the limit for most of the heroes. Even if somebody was able to awaken the memories from dozens of reincarnations, they were often mottled, fragmented, and as insignificant as sand and dust. Therefore, the ‘finalists’ who had awakened more than ten lives would be the best warriors of the ‘Ark’ and the ‘apocalypse’.

Of course, there were exceptions.

It was said that there was a type of Awakened who could transcend thousands of reincarnations and awaken to the early memories of roaming the sea of stars and shaking the universe before they were imprisoned. They vaguely touched upon the truth of the Infinite Earth and the Reincarnation Prison, which was the legendary ‘super perceptive’.

Although it had never been explicitly acknowledged, all the members of the Ark Foundation had tacitly acknowledged that Red Pole, their leader, was an ESP.

The ‘prophecy’ of the leader of the Heaven’s Origin Sector, on the other hand, was a whole different matter. As the claws and teeth of the will of the earth, he was not necessarily an ESP. It was possible that he was a projection or incarnation of the will of the earth.

But right now, the capability that Li Yao demonstrated, including the special attention that Red Pole paid to him, made the grey mist lady suspect that Li Yao was also a super perceptive Cultivator. Of course, Red Pole had to confirm it in person.

Li Yao did not know what he was exactly, either.

Although countless memory pieces of ‘Cultivator Li Yao’ were hovering inside his brain, there was something very weird in every dream-like picture—the enormous silver-white balloon was like a 3D mirror that reflected his twisted soul.

Then what was it exactly?

‘Cultivator Li Yao’ should not have experienced such a weird thing.

Li Yao had confessed the existence of the weird balloon to the grey mist lady so that she or Red Pole could analyze it and find the answer.

But he somehow swallowed his words in the end.

Right then, shrill alarms were echoing on the top of the train. Something was coming at them from the sky!
