Forty Millenniums of Cultivation

“Is your so-called ‘master civilization’ to maintain a connection with everyone’s mind and soul all the time?”

Li Yao exclaimed subconsciously, “This is crazy!”

“Madness?”

Gu Wuxin said, “Let’s say that a villager living in a small village in the dark medieval era arrived in the early days of the information era and saw so many terminals, media, and information exchange platforms, only to discover that the people of the era had to learn all the news that was happening in the entire planet, the entire space zone, and even the entire Sector, including dozens of celebrity gossips and murders that took place thousands of kilometers away. I believe that the villager must’ve thought that the era was crazy, too.

“However, you and I are both very clear that the times are not crazy, and society will not collapse because of too much information. On the contrary, it is the process of history and the inevitability of civilization. It is not inappropriate for us to enjoy ourselves in the ocean of information and take it for granted, is it not?

“What’s the saying—the technology born before I was born was all part of the order of the ordinary world; the technology born when I was young would become a revolutionary product that would change the world; and any technology born after I entered my middle age would violate the laws of nature and be punished by the heavens with evil and taboo techniques.

“Don’t you feel that your performance is very similar to the target of the sarcasm?

“Since you can enjoy all the benefits of the information society, discuss difficult problems with your friends in another space zone in real time through the terminal, entertain yourselves, and discuss your life experiences and the emotional changes that you are experiencing right now, everything is out-and-out evil arts in the eyes of the ancient people. Why can’t you open your heart and shatter the limitations in your head? Why can’t you appreciate the super information society of a higher level with a more tolerant and open attitude and join it frankly?

“Don’t be scared, and there’s no need to be vigilant. Believe me, it has benefits. It is of great benefit to everyone, including our civilization.

“First of all, by connecting everyone’s mind to their brain, we can concentrate all their wisdom and focus on the questions that are of paramount importance for the civilization and the universe. Due to the limitations of the brains of the carbon-based intelligent creatures, if every brain is able to calculate and think independently, we will never be able to crack the mysteries of a higher level, such as the truth of the four-dimensional space, the origin and end of the universe, and the more mysterious and weird five-dimensional and six-dimensional space.

“Such problems can only be solved by gathering the brains of thousands of people and forming super bodies.

“Secondly, as I said just now, joining a super body can make the life of a carbon-based intelligent life billions of times richer and heavier. It can give the originally pale and powerless life of billions of people a gorgeous color. Admit it. In any civilization with a carbon-based intelligent life, the lives of the vast majority of people are meaningless in the first place. They just live and die muddleheadedly. They are nothing more than animals that can talk and think. Maybe they are living a life that is even more carefree and happy than animals! If so, what’s wrong with giving them some color and meaning of life?

“Lastly, and most importantly, the super bodies can resolve the chronic diseases shared by every carbon-based civilization. They can put an end to our internal strife and self-destruction. They can eliminate the ‘chain of suspicion’ that exists between different civilizations and turn the entire sea of the universe into a perfect paradise of harmony and brightness.

“At the end of the day, why does every civilization with carbon-based intelligence decline when it reaches its peak, leading to civil wars and the destruction of the civilization? Isn’t it because of the selfish nature of individuals because of the continuation and diffusion of genes, which turns into infinite greed? The irreconcilable contradiction between infinite greed and limited resources has led to countless similar tragedies.

“Selfishness is perhaps the most important factor for the evolution of all creatures. It is also the first motivation for the birth and rise of a civilization.

“However, when a civilization develops to a very high level, the selfishness of the individual becomes the biggest obstacle to the further development of the civilization, if not the sharp claws that strangle the throat of the civilization.

“Selfishness caused every individual to harbor ill intentions. Every moment, they would have the urge to compete with their own kind, eliminate their own kind, and even eliminate their own kind. The miscommunication of information would lead to the interconnecting of ‘chain of suspicion’ within the civilization, seriously interfering with the normal functioning of society. In the end, the impulse to eliminate their own kind would expand infinitely and fall into a vicious cycle. A ‘war of everyone versus everyone’ would occur, resulting in mutual destruction. The third world war of the Earth Era, the thermonuclear war that nearly destroyed the civilization of mankind, was the most typical example.

“However, in the super bodies, none of this is a problem.

“Because all the information is shared. When you enjoy delicious food, billions of people will enjoy delicious food together with you. When you are in love with a girl of the opposite sex, billions of people will feel the pleasure of innocence and sweetness. When you are engaged in soul-stirring adventures, when your blood is boiling, and when thousands of people are fighting side by side with you, you will also be able to feel everything they get, whether it is fame and fortune, the luck of surviving a disaster, or the pleasure of solving a difficult problem.

“In such an era, the concepts of individuals have been diluted to the minimum. There is no need for ‘selfishness’ at all. Therefore, there is no jealousy, hatred, anger, or the urge to eliminate other people. Is there any reason to scheme and kill each other?

“On the other hand, because the soul and soul of every individual are connected, everyone’s evil thoughts and malice towards other people are as clear as a candle flame. If some sociopaths and natural-born homicidal maniac really have a tiny bit of distracting thoughts, they will be perceived by thousands upon thousands of people in a flash. Billions of bright and kind thoughts will immediately surge over and help him purify or isolate them, killing the threat in the cradle.

“Therefore, the ‘Transcendent Era’ is the most peaceful, the brightest, and the most harmonious era since the birth of the Universe Ocean. The human civilization that created the super bodies, the primitive civilizations and the alien species that are connected to the super bodies, all trust each other and are very united. There are no barriers, disagreements, or wariness at all. Of course, there is no room for schemes or wars. If the universe is a dark forest, isn’t the ‘super body—unified super information of the universe’ the best way to crack the dark forest?”

Li Yao was dazed for a moment.

Tilting his head and thinking for a long time, he replied, “There seems to be nothing wrong with it.”

“Of course it is. All the questions and concerns that you can think of have been thought through by the experts and scholars of the Heavenly Palace after thousands of years of exploration and research.

Gu Wuxin said, “Thousands of years ago, when the expedition army of the Pangu Civilization was caught off guard by the Flood Tide Legion outside the black wall and was barely defeated, some captives of the Flood Tide Legion extended an invitation to our experts and asked them to join their super bodies.

“At that time, our experts and the researchers who came later were naturally full of wariness and prejudice. It was impossible for them to agree immediately. Instead, they regarded the invitation of the captives of the Flood Tide Legion as a special kind of enchantment and brainwashing. They scoffed and continued their research.

“However, the temporary failure of marching into the Universe Ocean has led to a shortage of resources and internal instability.

“The discovery of a civilization of a hundred generations of pioneers in the primeval relics and their experience of destruction made us realize, even more desperately, that the ultimate contradiction between resources and desires is a dead knot that no civilization can get around. For billions of years, all civilizations have been destroyed because of this point. Can our civilization be an exception?

“Only by establishing our own ‘unified super-information system of the universe’ and connecting it to the ‘master-civilization super bodies’ created by the civilization of mankind in the near future can we achieve the harmony of the entire sea of the universe and resolve the wars, poverty, crimes, and other problems caused by selfish, ambitious, and internal strife.

“Even if the experts and scholars in the Heavenly Palace can bury their heads in the sand and pretend that they are blind to all the problems, the Pangu civilization outside of the Heavenly Palace is indeed corrupting, degenerating, and splitting, just as the captives of the Flood Tide Legion said. Ugly black spots have grown on the seemingly splendid body of the civilization. The incurable virus has penetrated into their bones and spread to their internal organs.

“Under such undercurrents, a few seniors of the Heavenly Palace were finally tempted.

“At first, they only connected their minds according to the training arts provided by the captives of the Flood Tide Legion.

“Since the Pangu Clan has always been good at large-scale telepathic thoughts, the universal way of communication for the Pangu civilization is the combination of language and brainwaves. Such a secret art of ‘telepathic connection’ is not much better than the methods of the Pangu Clan. Naturally, there are no dangers or taboos.

“The reason why the predecessors connected their minds was not to solve the high-level problems such as the civilization crisis. They were merely faced with a series of inexplicable mysteries in the primeval relics and needed higher-level wisdom.

“According to the captives of the Flood Tide Legion, the wisdom released when the two telepathic thoughts are connected is far more than the sum of the wisdom of the two telepathic thoughts, which means ‘one plus one equals more than two’.

“Besides, the more brains that are connected to the system, the more profound the wisdom of the system will be. Even the most marvelous problems will be solved easily.

“The captives of the Flood Tide Legion were not lying.

“The seniors who have been connected in secret have indeed received the wisdom of the super experts. They have tackled the topics that nobody has been able to answer for hundreds of years and analyzed the mysteries of the demise of more and more pioneers. Of course, they have a deeper understanding about the Flood Tide Legion and the so-called ‘Flood Tide’ itself.
