Chapter 301: Chapter 299: Transfer Order

In the morning, Yu Ningxue gently and kindly made breakfast for Xiao Tian. This was rare for this usually aloof and stunning policewoman.

The breakfast was quite simple: minced meat porridge and slices of steamed bread. However, Yu Ningxue had prepared it with great care— the amount of minced meat was just right, perfectly balancing out the blandness of the porridge, and the slices of bread were toasted to be neither too hot nor too cold. Just perfect.

Though nothing happened between them last night, Yu Ningxue had already expressed her feelings openly. She was a strong-willed person, and when she made up her mind, there was no turning back. So she already considered Xiao Tian her boyfriend.

After eating, the two of them went to work together.

As they entered the hall of the West Bureau, the group of police officers who had seen them drink cross-cupped wine last night burst into laughter and started teasing them. Although Yu Ningxue considered herself Xiao Tian’s woman now, being a girl, she couldn’t handle the jokes from this group. Her face turned red and she ran directly upstairs.

Xiao Tian could only touch his nose and smile faintly in response, then sat in a chair and started to absentmindedly flip through some documents.

At this moment, Wang Meng suddenly came over. He handed Xiao Tian a cup of tea, then dragged a chair to sit in front of Xiao Tian and asked, ”Xiao Tian, I saw you and the new deputy bureau chief didn’t seem to get along yesterday. Did you two have a falling out before?”

Xiao Tian nodded, ”Yeah, we took the same flight before. I ended up hitting him.”

Wang Meng was referring to Gong Xingteng. When Xiao Tian and Lin Bingxuan were returning to Shanghai, Gong Xingteng tried to make a move on Lin Bingxuan, so Xiao Tian taught him a lesson. But Xiao Tian didn’t expect that Gong Xingteng would turn out to be the new deputy bureau chief.

Xiao Tian smirked inwardly. Being assigned directly to Shanghai as a deputy bureau chief, if there wasn’t some considerable backing behind this, he wouldn’t believe it.

”I knew it!” Wang Meng clapped his hands, looking worried, ”I noticed last night that this guy was full of hostility towards you. I doubt he’ll let this go. He looks like a petty person!”

Xiao Tian smiled, took a sip of tea, just about to speak when the door of the police station was pushed open.

”Who’s called Xiao Tian?” a man in a police uniform asked directly.

”Me.” Xiao Tian turned his head and stood up. The police uniformed man glanced casually at Xiao Tian and then tossed the envelope in his hand over.

”I’m from the Northern City Branch. Our director asked me to hand this over to you.”

Xiao Tian accepted the envelope and asked, ”What’s this?”

The man in the police uniform frowned, showing undisguised arrogance, ”Can’t you read it yourself?”

Wang Meng, upon hearing this, was instantly displeased. He stood up immediately with a harsh tone, ”Watch your attitude. Be careful I report you to your director!”

The policeman from the Northern City Branch acted as if he hadn’t heard, chuckled, and walked away slowly.

”Damn, what an attitude!” Seeing the man’s arrogance, Wang Meng couldn’t help but curse. Then, Wang Meng leaned over, saying, ”Quick, see what’s written inside? Those bastards at the North Bureau are unhappy with us at the West Bureau stealing the spotlight lately; they’re always trying to make things difficult for us. It’s probably nothing good.”

Xiao Tian nodded, tore open the envelope, and was immediately met with two large characters.

”Transfer Order.”

Wang Meng’s expression instantly froze, then he read aloud, ”Currently, the Northern City Branch is short on personnel and specially transfers Comrade Xiao Tian to work at the Northern City Branch. Specific duties include... patrol? You need to report within two hours, signed by the Municipal Bureau.”

Wang Meng angrily said, ”Not to mention the deadline of two hours, isn’t this outright bullying?”

Upon hearing this, Xiao Tian immediately sneered coldly.

”Ha, so they really are looking to make trouble for me?” Xiao Tian thought to himself.

Upon hearing the transfer order, many people gathered around, looking at the order with indignation, saying, ”What Municipal Bureau? It must be arranged by the new deputy bureau chief from yesterday!”

”Yesterday, that Gong Xingteng was badmouthing you, and we all clearly remember it!”

”Everyone knows you’re familiar with people and surroundings at the West Bureau, and now they’re transferring you to the North Bureau, isn’t it obvious they’re trying to make things difficult?”

Wang Meng, extremely enraged, said, ”Isn’t this bullying? Xiao Tian, you’re on good terms with Director Bai, you should go talk to him.”

Xiao Tian casually waved his hand and tossed the transfer order aside. He nonchalantly said, ”Don’t worry, I’m not going anywhere. This little matter doesn’t need to bother Director Bai.”

Saying this, Xiao Tian went back to his seat, continuing to casually flip through the files or occasionally flirt with Yu Ningxue a bit as time slowly passed.

Zhao Dama at this moment was very excited, sitting in a car on the way to the West Bureau.

Zhao Dama was originally the director of the Northern City Branch, he got his position through his wife’s connections. Usually, he would use his small power to make personal gain.

Last night, the newly arrived deputy director in the city, Gong Xingteng, contacted him and invited him for some fun at a city club. Gong Xingteng told him that today, Xiao Tian from the West City Branch would be transferred to the Northern City Branch and that Zhao Dama should ”take care” of Xiao Tian. In return, Gong Xingteng promised to promote him to director of the City Bureau!

Zhao Dama wasn’t a fool. He could tell at a glance that Gong Xingteng wasn’t an ordinary figure and immediately treated him as his benefactor. Hearing that he could be promoted to the City Bureau as a director, Zhao Dama eagerly assured that he would definitely deal with Xiao Tian!

Because once he reached the City Bureau, he would have access to all the cases in Shanghai City. By then, his pockets would probably be much fuller!

By the afternoon, seeing Xiao Tian still hadn’t reported, Zhao Dama decided to personally go trouble Xiao Tian to curry favor with Gong Xingteng.

The car arrived at the West City Branch, Zhao Dama got out of the car looking arrogant, striding aggressively into the West Bureau’s hall.

”Director Zhao!”

Seeing Zhao Dama enter the hall, although everyone present was annoyed by Zhao Dama, after all, he was still a director, Zhang Meng hurried over politely asking, ”Why have you come?”

”None of your business.” Zhao Dama waved his hand dismissively, giving Zhang Meng no face at all, and walked straight to the center of the hall, coldly saying, ”That Xiao Tian, step out, haven’t you seen the transfer order?”

Usually, Zhao Dama was like an emperor in the Northern City Branch, which also fostered his arrogant demeanor, so upon arriving at the West Bureau, he didn’t restrain himself at all.

At this point, Xiao Tian walked over, glancing at the sharp-nosed, hawk-eyed Zhao Dama in front of him, speaking in a bland tone, ”Sorry, I forgot.”

”Forgot?” Zhao Dama snorted coldly, walked over to scrutinize Xiao Tian, then sneered,

”Look at you, do you even look like a police officer? Probably using some connections to get in, right? I’ve seen plenty of societal dregs like you, who come to freeload just because their family has some ties. Not obeying orders, huh? As your superior, I’m telling you, you’re fired!”

Saying this, Zhao Dama felt a little pleased with himself. He thought that he must look very imposing and dashing with such overbearingness. He even cast a glance at Yu Ningxue’s face, which turned ashen from anger, and flirtatiously smiled at her. He thought to himself, indeed, she was the flower of Shanghai’s police community, truly beautiful!

Unexpectedly, at that moment, Xiao Tian’s cold voice came through.

”Fire me? You think you’re qualified?”
