Venerated Venomous Consort

Since Gu Xijiu had stopped to catch her breath, Di Fuyi immediately commented, “Not here! It will still come for us!”

The sky above them was now already blotted out by a giant piece of dark shadow. It was the Candle Dragon, again!

Gu Xijiu was dumbstruck. Why did the Candle Dragon insist on the pursuit? Whatever the reason, it looked like she had to teleport again.

However, her body was a little weak to withstand the rapid exhaustion of her spiritual power. Therefore, after a few rounds, she started to suffer from blackouts. Before she collapsed, she quickly grabbed Di Fuyi’s sleeves to steady her from swaying her body.

Oddly enough, the Candle Dragon was still coming after them, like a stubborn maggot. Could there be an end for this pursuit?

Gu Xijiu took a deep breath before continuing to teleport away, but Di Fuyi would not let her. “You cannot keep doing this. I will take over from here,” he announced while carrying her in his arms.

Swiftly, they dived into the ground with his Ground Drilling.

Gu Xijiu patiently followed. She was familiar with the Ground Drilling now. Even the routes reminded her of their last trip together. The path seemed to lead them all the way to the glacier. Although they did not enter the ground from the same starting point, the route remained the same.

At this point, Gu Xijiu was absolutely exhausted. Blood rushed through her veins in an unsteady flow. She could no longer keep herself awake. Hence, she closed her eyes for a short nap in his arms.

As expected, they emerged from the ground into the glacier. However, the Candle Dragon was capable of Ground Drilling, so it went into the underground in pursuit of them for a while. It soon gave up, as the routes that Di Fuyi used were unusual and hard to follow. Also, the Puzzling Spell that he used along the way managed to confuse the creature and eventually left it far behind.

It was the same icy peaks and the same compaction of snow that made Gu Xijiu feel at home for a moment. Even the vortex of chilly winds was all too familiar.

Di Fuyi tripped when they first arrived and almost threw Gu Xijiu out of his arms. Luckily, she was awake now and was alert of her surroundings.

“I can walk by myself,” Gu Xijiu struggled to stand.

She shuddered in the cold as soon as she got onto her feet. “Hold this.” A red umbrella was offered to shield her from the snow.

It was the same act of kindness from before, and Gu Xijiu happily accepted the offer. “Are you hurt, too?” She asked.

Pale and drawn, Di Fuyi looked just as weak as she did.

“Did the Candle Dragon do this to you?” She made a guess.

Di Fuyi nodded.

“The Candle Dragon was not even supposed to be there, was it?”

“The pool leads all the way out to Earthsea. It used to be there,” Di Fuyi answered accordingly.

Gu Xijiu knew about Earthsea. It was buried deep within the earth’s core, so it was known as the Earthsea for carrying a lot of water in the ground. Regular seawater was in crystal clear tint of blue, whereas the water that came from the Earthsea was as dark as ink. With a constant temperature of boiling water, nothing on earth could possibly survive in the harsh environment.

The location of the Earthsea was unknown. She remembered clearly that she had never been there. More accurately speaking, she had never found the place yet.

Surprisingly, the pool turned out to be the entrance of Earthsea. When she saw him, he must have just emerged from Earthsea.

“How did you come across its path?” Gu Xijiu was impressed by his bravery. He dared to fight a Candle Dragon alone.

Di Fuyi took a black egg out of his storage bag and answered, “For this.”

Gu Xijiu was dumbstruck. She finally knew why the Candle Dragon had been tirelessly pursuing them. The man had stolen its egg. It all made sense to her now.

She observed the egg, which was almost the size of a basket. It was glossy on its black surface, as though associated with a circle of light around it.

“Are you going to hatch the egg and use the little creature as your majestic pet?”

The Candle Dragon was considered as a mythical creature, which was absolutely difficult to be subjected to domestication. It was almost impossible to be tamed and trained when it was fully-grown, which led Gu Xijiu to think that the egg was for domestication.

Di Fuyi put the egg down on the snow. “No, not this one.”

“What is it about, then?”

“I heard it tastes good.”
