My Youth Began With Him

“Mr. Tang, I’m in such a pathetic state now. Please don’t mock me, okay?”

“I wasn’t mocking. I asked the question in earnest. You were so good to her; even though you broke up, she should come and see you.”

“Well, she did.” Remembering the night when Huo Yanyan came, Shen Mingxi still felt hurt.

That woman’s words pierced his heart like a knife.

They could break one’s heart…

“Did she apologize to you on her knees? After all, you were her sugar daddy who had paid for her everything,” Tang Chuan asked.

“No. She got even worse. I think we will never get back together. But still, I don’t want to make things ugly… I’ve always thought that the two parties should become strangers after the relationship ends and don’t disturb each other; people shouldn’t fight so fiercely and ruin each other’s life just because they broke up.”

“You’re right. I do think a man shouldn’t do battle with his woman. After, they were once so close to each other. I do agree with you on this point; you are a real man.” Su Yu gave him a thumbs-up.

“I’m begging the two of you not to mock me anymore.” Shen Mingxi didn’t know if he should laugh or cry.

“Then you have to leave Huo Yanyan to fend for herself. I think this woman is walking farther and farther on the road to her grave,” Tang Chuan exclaimed.

“What other outrageous things did she do?” Shen Mingxi froze in surprise.

“The things she did are more than outrageous. She’s crazy.”

Then Tang Chuan told him how Huo Yanyan made a scene before the gate of the city police department, and how she slandered Gao Ran in front of the reporters.

Tang Chuan described the whole thing with vividness; Shen Mingxi frowned slightly as he listened.

“Hey, I say, Brother Shen, tell me the truth. Is Huo Yanyan mentally ill?” Tang Chuan asked seriously.

Shen Mingxi: “…”

“No… I don’t think so. She’s not like that… I think our relationship began to change after her mother returned.”

Shen Mingxi analyzed carefully.

Su Yu interrupted immediately, “Yeah. I heard from Mian that Huo Yanyan and Huo Siyi were greatly influenced by their mother; their views on the world and ways of doing things all came from their mother.”

“I don’t think that’s the only reason. You know, Sister Mian’s mother is also a common working-class woman who knew nothing about manners, but how come Sister Mian came out to be so decent?”

Tang Chuan was puzzled…

“Your Big Sister Mian is a genius, one out of ten thousand people. She’s not one of us ordinary people.” Su Yu chuckled.

“Humph. Look how excited you get when you praise my Big Sister Mian; you sound so proud as if she was your wife…” Tang Chuan teased Su Yu.

“No nonsense. Don’t joke about it in the future.”

Su Yu was very careful about these kinds of details, even though he knew Tang Chuan was just kidding.

Still, he didn’t want Mian, a married woman who was in her second pregnancy, to be the target of jokes; he was afraid it would reflect badly on her.

Shen Mingxi looked at Su Yu in envy.

“I envy you, Young Master Su.”

“How can you envy me, a perpetual bachelor?”

“I envy you because the woman you love is worthy of your love…” Shen Mingxi smiled bitterly.

“Well, don’t dwell on it. You just got blinded by her… Now that you know what kind of woman she is, you must stay away from her. She’s like a mad dog that bites anyone near her… I have a feeling she’ll meet her end soon. Really, it’s not that I’m cursing her or something… I just feel that she will end up badly if she continues like this,” Su Yu said frankly.

Shen Mingxi frowned thoughtfully… Even though he didn’t love Huo Yanyan, he didn’t hate her, either.

If something happened to her, he’d be sad; he was sure of it.

It was midnight.

Huo Yanyan stopped her car on the side of a road in a remote suburban area.

“Where’s the thing I want? Have you brought it?” Huo Yanyan asked the man whose face was indistinguishable.
