Li Yi looked around. There was no sign of his teammates. The other players had already returned to camp.

“Waiting for your teammates?”

Li Yi remained silent, but his eyes flickered with brief panic.

“I’ve still got over eight hundred players under me right now.”

Li Yi felt like something was off.

The team started out with more than a thousand players.

So there should be over a thousand men. Li Yi had taken down a hundred of them. So there should be about nine hundred left.

Another two hundred had been sent out to go after Clutch King and the Dream Seeker’s teams.

So there should be seven hundred left after that.

Another two hundred had been sent out after Li Yi himself, all of whom he had taken care of himself.

It did not make sense to have more than eight hundred men left.

Yet the army that stood before Li Yi now seemed significantly bigger than when he had seen them before.

This could only mean one thing… Clutch King had lost.

Well… It was not a total defeat. There were only eight hundred men now, which meant another hundred had been taken down.

If Sun Conqueror and Clutch King were to first take down a hundred men, it meant that they were caught helping out elsewhere, then the other hundred men might have retreated upon hearing the news.

If that were the case, Sun Conqueror and Clutch King should have returned to Li Yi after coming with Dream Seeker.

Yet there were eight hundred of them there, and not a single one of his squadmates here.

What had happened, then?

Had Dream Seeker and the two hundred men in his lead run into trouble?

Li Yi grew restless with fear the more he thought about it.

Li Yi turned to run, uncaring of the camp before.

The man mounted on the war stallion let out a satisfied smile at the sight of Li Yi escaping.

“Leader, should we go after him?”

“No. We have a war to fight.”

“Alright.”

Li Yi ran with all his might, worried sick for his teammates.

He returned to the place he had run into Sun Conqueror.

All he saw was Clutch King and Dream Seeker. Sun Conqueror and his guild members were nowhere to be seen.

“Captain!”

Seeing his team members unharmed filled Li Yi with great relief.

“What happened?”

“We followed your orders and teamed up with Sun Conqueror to surround the team of a hundred men. But another team appeared out of nowhere and ambushed Sun Conqueror and his men. We barely escaped.”

As Clutch King spoke, the grip on his Lightning Spear in his hand tightened.

“No one came to us at all, so we sensed something was off and reached out to Clutch King at once. They were the only two people left when we found them,” Dream Seeker piped up.

“From the looks of it, they seem to have gotten wind of our strategies.”

Li Yi thought back to the man holding the crystal ball, a chill passed through his heart. That man must have been the reason for all this, he was sure of it.

“What should we do now?” Dream Seeker asked.

“Wait for help to come, that’s all.”

Li Yi had subconsciously begun to develop fear for the man. He may have seen through Li Yi’s strategy from the very start.

As long as the man was still here, trouble was still at bay, even if the army kept growing.

The only feasible plan left seemed to be getting someone just as terrifying to match up to him.

A person came to Li Yi’s mind, someone who scared him just as much.

“Come with me.”

Li Yi led his squad toward the road ahead.

He had to find the man somehow. Whatever happened just now was already beyond what he could handle.

Finding the man was their only shot at getting out alive.

Li Yi did not want to admit it, but he admitted defeat. Li Yi had slipped up this time. The situation had spun out of his control. He did not want to accept what had happened, but he had no choice but to accept it.

He was still not strong enough, even now.

Before this, he had been able to rely on just his competence and skills to solve problems, but now the problems he faced required intellect.

He lost out on this aspect.

This was not a battle he could win with physical strength.

The thought alone filled Li Yi with growing rage. He did not like being treated this way at all. Yet this was the truth, one he struggled with but had to accept.

Walking out of the forest that had now been burnt to a crisp, the sight that greeted them was the Emperor City.

There were also close to a thousand players here.

These players were also wandering aimlessly. None of them had a leader to follow. If they were competing in terms of strength in numbers, they might have had a shot at winning. However, there was something else more sinister to worry about.

Trying to gain advantage with a mere two hundred more men was easier said than done.

At the sight of Li Yi and the rest returning, everyone looked very confused.

“What’s going on here?”

No one could answer.

Li Yi did not wish to speak to these people any further.

“Where’s your leader?”

Li Yi did not bother with courtesy, getting straight to the point.

“What do you want with our leader?”

“We need him for this battle.”

“…”

Misty Moon remained wordless.

“I’m at my wit’s end. There’s no way we’re winning the battle without him.”

At Li Yi’s words, a satisfied look crept onto Misty Moon’s face.

“Coming from the great Carefree Dream? I’ll be d*mned!”

“I don’t have time for your insolence. Can you please tell me where your leader is?”

Li Yi was pretty desperate. A hand crept onto his shoulder.

“Has the great Carefree Dream get into trouble?”

Li Yi turned around, and was greeted by the sight of a man dressed up as a soldier before him.

The soldier uniform did not make him stand out at all. If they had not come face-to-face, he would have been near unrecognizable, looking nothing like the esteemed leader of the Misty Rain Guild.

“You sure hid yourself well.”

“If you hadn’t come looking for me I wouldn’t have shown up at all.”

Pulling Misty World to the side, Li Yi explained what had just happened in detail.

Misty World kept silent, seeming to be in deep thought as he listened to Li Yi break

down his battle plan.

“You’re saying this person held a crystal ball in his hands, yes?”

“Yeah.”

“In that case, there might be some trouble.”

Li Yi’s brows creased with a light frown.

“Are you sure?”

“I’m more than sure about it. We were classmates, we played this game together.”

“Oh? Why isn’t he with you then?”

“Our relationship is a little more complicated than that. We’re classmates, but we’re also rivals.”

The man’s name was Breezy Lake, and he went to the same university as Misty World. Both of them were IT students, studying different courses.

Both of them had great academic results, often competing with each other. Upon finding out Misty World had gotten into the game, Breezy Lake started playing it as well with the intention of seeing who fared better.

So they went separate ways, building a name for themselves in completely different cities.

“I thought he’d gone home for vacation. I didn’t know he’d be taking part in this event as well. This should be interesting.”

“You seem to know each other very well. Will you be able to take him down?”

“We’re about as good as each other. I’m afraid this battle might not be an easy one.”

Li Yi could not help but feel a little disappointed at Misty World’s words.

“Though, that might not be the case.. Not if I’ve got you on my team.”
