Reborn As Noble

Chapter 884: Magic, Metal, and Command ( 884 )

Javier stood straight, both hands behind his back.

”Yes, Esteemed Father. For the operation to proceed, after we secure the first area, as you’ve planned, Princess Kliatana will take command of the next team, to restore order, rebuild, and reopen the main roads.”

He gestured toward the glowing map.

”I’ll deploy several groups of Puppet Knights to guard the key points. Bridges, border roads, and main entry routes. Two or three Battle Drones will patrol each secured area for surveillance and deterrence. That should be enough to maintain peace and visibility.”

Garius nodded, his tone firm.

”For patrol duties, Hesbeirn’s units will assist yours. They’ll cover the main road that connects Arjam to Armand. I’ll finalize the details with Alf, Erinnette, and Hesbeirn after you launch the first official intervention.”

”Yes, Esteemed Father,”

Javier replied with a short nod. He turned back to the map, studying the red and blue marks.

”Even though the envoy from Arjam came earlier to request our help, we still don’t know the full strength, or the loyalty of the remaining Arjam troops who serve their temporary government. With no unified command, former knights, mercenary groups, and desperate locals might act on their own. Some may claim to defend the people, but others will use this chaos to plunder. We can’t predict who will stand with us, who will flee, or who will turn their blades against us, or against the refugees.”

He drew a slow breath before continuing.

”I’ll drive out the main nobles’ armies first before deploying the rest of our forces to secure the border. For what comes after, I’ll trust your plan and judgment, Esteemed Father.”

Garius watched him quietly, then nodded with approval.

”Good. You’re finally speaking like a commander.”

Everyone clapped. The sound echoed through the council hall, genuine and warm.

Marcellus nodded with approval, still clapping. ”That’s how the true next heir should be.”

Cedric lifted his chin, his voice clear as he joined the applause. ”Indeed. He suits the next heir title. He’ll make a fine ruler for Armand.”

Aelius smiled quietly, nodding in support, while Athine leaned gently on his shoulder and offered Javier a graceful thumbs up.

Javier’s brow twitched.

Inside, he was screaming.

Grrrrr!! I don’t want to be the next heir! It was supposed to be those two, Marcellus and Cedric! But with all those endless paperwork... no wonder they keep pushing it to me.

As Javier tried to maintain his calm, Garius’s voice broke through.

”So, Javier. I trust you’ll prepare for this official military intervention soon?” Garius’s eyes were steady, but a faint smile tugged at his lips.

”As the next heir in line, you have a responsibility to see this through.”

Javier straightened, swallowing back his protests.

”Yes, Esteemed Father. I’ll begin preparations immediately.”

”Oh, before we wrap this up, Javier, is that thing already finished?” Garius asked, his tone shifting just slightly from command to curiosity.

Javier gave a quick nod.

”Yes, Esteemed Father. The mobile relay signal wagons are ready. They’ll be deployed for testing as soon as we move out. With these, we can extend the mana talkie range much farther, almost as far as Armand itself. It’ll make communication seamless. Since only Armand has this system, our troops will have instant, secure contact anywhere on the field.”

He paused, glancing around the table. ”I managed to finish ten units, so we’ll have enough to cover our main groups and key posts for this operation.”

Javier allowed himself a small, satisfied smile.

”I also finished the signal extender upgrade for the Sky Eye. It’ll boost our communication reach even further. Before the final model is done, it should be able to connect our main relay to every field unit. If it all works, the range could cover signals through both Armand and Arjam... but we’ll only know for sure after testing.”

He scratched the back of his head, a sheepish grin on his face.

”Well... I was going to work on the last piece, maybe something to boost our signal further, or add some new functions for the army, but... it’ll have to wait. I’ll be busy once this starts... eheh...”

A ripple of quiet laughter and impressed looks passed around the table. Even Garius let a faint smile slip through.

”Good work, Javier,” he said. ”With that, we’ll have the advantage. No one else in this kingdom has tools like these. Make sure everything is ready before deployment.”

Javier nodded, his heart settling as the council’s attention turned his way, a quiet pride swelling in his chest.

Garius glanced at Javier, his voice calm. ”Do you want to stay and hear the plan? I’ll be discussing the next steps with Alf, Erinnette, and Hesbeirn.”

Javier shook his head politely. ”Pardon me, Esteemed Father, but I think it’s better if I start preparations right away, checking all the Puppet Knights and equipment for the operation. The sooner we’re ready, the better.”

Garius considered for a moment, then nodded. ”Very well. Alf will brief you with the details once the plan is finalized. You may go ahead.”

Javier straightened, bowing respectfully. ”Thank you, Esteemed Father. If you’ll excuse me.”

Javier turned on his heel and made his way out, already running through a mental checklist of everything he needed to prepare.

Once he stepped outside the council chamber, Javier paused and glanced around the quiet hallway.

Where are Liana and Gloria?

He wondered, scanning the corridor. No sign of them. Probably busy preparing, or more likely, already waiting for me to finish.

Well, it’s better if I head straight to my workshop anyway. He smirked to himself. I bet Buddy’s there too, getting bored.

He set off down the hall, rubbing his chin thoughtfully.

Hmm... it’s finally time to reveal the newest, coolest thing I always dreamed about back in my old world! His lips curled into a crooked, devilish grin, eyes glinting with anticipation as he rubbed his palms together.

Can’t wait to show them. The advancement of magic tech! The only one in this world who could create something like this... He puffed his chest out, striding forward with a smug, springy walk.

Meanwhile...

Liana and Gloria could only sigh in unison.

”All of Young Master’s future wives are here, except for one,” Gloria murmured, casting a glance around the drawing room.

”Ferine’s the only one missing,” Liana agreed softly, arms folded as she watched the scene unfolding before them.
