Soul Emperor Martial God

Chapter 2241: Chapter 2238: Sword Pavilion’s Eight Venerable Envoys

”Senior Xia.” Xiao Yi looked at Xia Yifeng’s grave expression and asked in startled confusion.

Xia Yifeng didn’t speak, his expression only growing more solemn.

He held that drop of Essence Blood between his fingertips, carefully sensing it. After a long while, he withdrew his perception, yet his expression kept shifting.

”Senior Xia.” Xiao Yi frowned and asked again.

Xia Yifeng flicked his fingertip, and the Essence Blood in his hand shot out of the hall.

Bang...

The Essence Blood was like a droplet of water, yet it pierced through the sky, exploding with a thunderous boom outside the hall.

Xia Canglan’s expression changed; his figure flashed as he leapt out of the hall.

”This...” Xia Canglan’s face shifted. ”Clan Leader, the clan barrier was directly pierced through, it almost exploded.”

Any power, especially the stronger Sects and clans, must have their own Sect-guarding, clan-guarding Great Formation.

As one of the Three Great Families of the Ice Emperor Palace, the Xia Family naturally had one as well.

Inside the hall, Xia Yifeng only narrowed his eyes, not showing much surprise. ”Just now, this old man merely flicked casually, I did not use my own strength.”

Hearing this, Xia Canglan’s expression changed drastically. ”That one blast was enough to rival my full-strength sword strike, wasn’t it?”

Xia Yifeng shook his head. ”To be precise, it’s stronger than your full-strength sword strike.”

Xiao Yi glanced outside the hall and frowned slightly.

Xia Yifeng’s face remained grave as he looked at Xiao Yi. ”To be honest, even this old man can’t tell what exactly is going on with the Essence Blood in your body.”

”Senior Luoo and the various Masters of the Main Hall, with their insight and vision, failed to see through it.”

”This old man tried to comprehend it from the angle of Martial Arts Knowledge, yet still gained nothing.”

”In short, remember this.” Xia Yifeng said in a deep voice. ”From now on, on this Qi and Blood Dao, don’t recklessly consume your own Essence Blood anymore.”

”A demon beast, its entire strength is almost ninety percent contained in its Essence Blood. You can imagine just how important Essence Blood is.”

”Evil Cultivators, when they lay down evil power formations, it is mostly to absorb the Essence Blood of Martial Artists, because that belongs to the Origin, or rather the fundamental strength, of Martial Artists.”

Xiao Yi nodded. ”I’ll keep that in mind.”

”Mm.” Xia Yifeng nodded. ”Alright, let’s get back to the main topic.”

”In that battle at the Holy Moon Sect that day, you relied on two main trump cards.”

”First is this Purple Lightning Divine Sword, this Divine Weapon.”

”Second is your own Essence Blood, staking your life against theirs.”

”Aside from these two trump cards, your own strength wasn’t enough to stand shoulder to shoulder with experts above the Late-stage Saint Sovereign Realm.”

”Even though you possess many methods—Sword Dao, Fire Dao, Poison Dao—any one of them is enough for you to fight across realms, easily reaching around the Saint Sovereign Realm Fifth Layer.”

”Yet the stacking of the three is actually inferior to the amplification from any single one of them. Added together, at most they let you reach the Saint Sovereign Realm Sixth Layer.”

”Such a mere one-layer amplification doesn’t amount to much.”

”By contrast, if your Cultivation improves, it can directly smooth over this one-layer increase. Which is lighter and which is heavier, you should understand by now.”

Xiao Yi considered for a moment and said, ”I do understand, that’s exactly why I want Martial Arts Fusion.”

”The three stacking only give one layer of amplification, even inferior to the increase from Cultivation alone. But if they fuse, I can directly soar by several layers or more...”

Xia Yifeng waved his hand, cutting him off. ”This old man understands what you mean.”

”But Martial Arts Fusion is not something achieved in a single day, nor even in a short few years.”

”In the message Senior Luoo sent me, he strongly opposed this kind of ’instant success’ cultivation method of yours.”

”As for this old man, I can’t say I oppose it, nor do I think your method is wrong.”

Xiao Yi chuckled.

Xia Yifeng spoke seriously. ”But what this old man means is that anything, especially this Martial Arts System, since it exists, it must have its significance.”

”Why is Martial Arts Fusion something that can only be grasped at the Saint Sovereign Realm Seventh Layer? It’s not because this old man says so, nor because Senior Luoo says so, but because under these Heaven and Earth Rules, through countless years, countless Martial Artist predecessors have explored and summed it up as a law.”

”You can continue your Martial Arts Fusion, but you still must prioritize Cultivation.”

”Some things, you don’t understand right now, or rather, you didn’t understand before. But as your Cultivation rises, you’ll gradually understand them.”

”It’s the same now: rather than forcibly fusing Martial Arts, it’s better to let it happen naturally.”

”As your Cultivation improves, your own Martial Arts Insights and Heaven and Earth Resonance will both grow stronger.”

”If you emphasize both Cultivation and Martial Arts Fusion, then when the time comes, everything will happen naturally. That is the faster way.”

Whether Senior Luoo or the other Masters of the Main Hall, they all strongly opposed Xiao Yi’s headlong, instant-success approach.

But Xia Yifeng did not oppose it; instead he voiced his own understanding.

This is the difference between a mere powerhouse and a Martial Arts Teacher.

”Then what should I do?” Xiao Yi asked.

As the saying goes, ’one who has attained the Dao is fit to be a teacher.’ In terms of guidance, this Hidden Master Xia Yifeng was far beyond Xiao Yi, so naturally Xiao Yi had to ask.

”There’s no need to say too much.” Xia Yifeng smiled.

”Since you’re willing to ask, it means you’re willing to listen to this old man. This old man was entrusted by Senior Luoo, so I must do my utmost to help you.”

”Around tomorrow at dusk, it should be the time when the Ice Palace Fourth Floor opens.”

”This old man will enter the Ice Palace Fourth Floor together with you. In the following month, or even for a longer period, I will be by your side guiding you along the way.”

”I’ll be troubling you, Senior Xia.” Xiao Yi cupped his fists.

”However...” Xiao Yi reacted at once and frowned. ”Why at dusk? Wasn’t it said that it will open tomorrow?”

”You’re sharp.” Xia Yifeng nodded in satisfaction.

”Because the right to open the Ice Palace Fourth Floor is not held solely by our Ice Emperor Palace.”

Before Xiao Yi could ask, Xia Yifeng directly gave the answer. ”There’s also the Ice Storm Sword Pavilion.”

”This brat Xia Canglan should have told you about our Ice Emperor Palace’s origins.”

”Back then, the Ice Venerate Ancestor had four disciples. Three of them founded the Ice Emperor Palace, while the other founded the Ice Storm Sword Pavilion.”

”All in all, between our Ice Emperor Palace and the Ice Storm Sword Pavilion, although we aren’t enemies, our relationship is far from good.”

”At that time, the four disciples of the Grandmaster all had conflicting views, which was why they each established their own forces, using their own ways to carry forward the Ice Venerate Ancestor’s Inheritance.”

Xia Yifeng continued, ”On the Ice Palace Fourth Floor, there exists the Grandmaster’s Inheritance. The method to open it lies in the hands of the four founders.”

”And today, naturally it lies in the hands of us Four Great Guardians, that is, within the two powers of the Ice Emperor Palace and the Ice Storm Sword Pavilion.”

”You may have defeated the Eight Venerable Envoys and gained the recognition of our Ice Emperor Palace.”

”But you’ve yet to gain the recognition of the Ice Storm Sword Pavilion.”

The Eight Venerable Envoys, strictly speaking, are actually Sixteen Venerable Envoys—eight from the Ice Emperor Palace, eight from the Ice Storm Sword Pavilion.

”Still have to fight?” Xiao Yi’s brows knitted.

”To be honest, I really don’t want to waste time.”

”Scared?” Xia Canglan laughed lightly at the side. ”That doesn’t sound like your style, kid.”

Xiao Yi frowned. ”I don’t care about those eight Venerable Envoys of the Ice Storm Sword Pavilion, but once that bunch comes over, it’s too much trouble.”

For such a large power to come, who knows how many days it would drag on.

Xiao Yi voiced his thoughts plainly.

Xia Yifeng lightly shook his head. ”It won’t take long. Within tomorrow, the party from the Ice Storm Sword Pavilion will arrive.”

”The Ice Storm Sword Pavilion is different from our Ice Emperor Palace. Aside from their Guardian Elders, their entire force only has ten Disciples.”

”The entire Sword Pavilion added together has no more than twenty people.”

”For a powerhouse, traveling is but an instant.”

First update.
