Daily Intelligence System: Don't Kill Me, Honey!

Chapter 173: Chapter 112: The incident escalates, Peng Shizhong VS oil seller_2

And after entering the realm of Dark Force, his skin and flesh were honed to their optimal condition, even his tendons and bones were trained, resulting in his reflexive response to emergencies reaching its peak state.

Whoosh!

A blade stabbed fiercely towards Chen Jie from the shadows. Chen Jie’s body reacted subconsciously with a swift dodge, and the blade, following closely, flew past his scalp, shearing off a few strands of his hair.

Because Chen Jie’s movement was too excessive, the green tangerines he had been holding fell to the ground with a thud.

They rolled to the side.

Chen Jie loosened his grip on the bag and then executed the Water Manipulation Palm, striking vigorously towards the direction of the assassin.

The assassin was shocked, ”Such a sensitive reaction speed, he doesn’t seem like someone in the Refining Body Realm. Could the information be wrong?”

With this thought, however, he had no time to react, as Chen Jie’s Water Manipulation Palm strike was already upon him.

Seeing this, the assassin quickly withdrew his blade and turned to run.

He was a standard assassin who would flee a thousand miles if his strike failed. From the counter-attack of that palm strike, he realized that Chen Jie’s strength was no less than his own; he must also be in the Willow Tendon Realm, indeed a Dark Force assassin.

He was merely a C-level killer. Were it not for the two thousand taels of silver to purchase the medicine he needed to advance to the Iron Bone Realm, he would not have risked taking on this mission.

When he took the job, the black market had made it very clear. Peng Shizhong was ready to recognize a foster son whose strength was only at the Refining Body Realm.

Only then did he dare to take the risk.

His plan was to finish this job, assassinate successfully, and then flee a thousand miles immediately. As long as he left Huangzhou Prefecture, even Peng Shizhong wouldn’t be able to catch him.

But now, the information was wrong; this kid was obviously not in the Refining Body Realm but the Willow Tendon Realm. With such an expert, comparable to his own strength, another assassination attempt would not be worthwhile.

So he prepared to run.

But how could Chen Jie let him escape?

A person who wanted to kill him, yet whose identity he did not know—such a venomous snake’s existence would leave him in constant anxiety and fear.

With this in mind, Chen Jie quickly stepped forward, then swung his hand and blocked the assassin’s path with a palm.

Seeing this, the assassin swung his blade in an attempt to force Chen Jie back, but Chen Jie would not allow it.

With a quick step forward, he executed a move: ”Water Manipulation Palm—Triple Waves!”

This palm strike was indeed formidable. Yu Biao had met his end under this very palm.

The assassin used his blade to block the palm strike, but he was hit by three successive waves of palm power, thrown to the ground, and rolled over.

Then, half-squatting on the ground, the assassin swung his blade over his head, getting into a defensive stance.

Chen Jie said, ”Who sent you to kill me?”

The assassin replied, ”Jianghu rules, never reveal the employer.”

Hearing this, Chen Jie remarked, ”You’re quite loyal.”

Then Chen Jie glanced at the corner wall piled with bamboo poles. He kicked one over and instantly grabbed it.

With a bamboo pole in hand, Chen Jie swiftly performed a flourish with the pole, and advanced aggressively.

With the bamboo pole in hand, like a spear, he thrust with dexterity.

A thrust of the bamboo pole, and immediately the assassin executed a ”Head Cover Defense,” blocking the pole, but Chen Jie’s rapid assault continued, and the assassin had to defend like a spinning top.

One strike, two strikes, three strikes...

Finally, the assassin put all his strength into a move, ”Broken Blade Formation,” and directly chopped off a piece of Chen Jie’s bamboo pole.

This assassin was also somewhat famous in Mianshui County; his saber technique was formidable, specializing in a ”Plum Blossom Saber Technique.” Now he attacked fiercely.

He knew that if he did not fight a life-and-death battle with Chen Jie today, he would probably not be able to escape.

At the same time, he was inwardly fuming. If he could escape today, the first thing would be to kill that idiotic employer. Without solid information, he foolishly issued tasks, endangering his own life.

The second thing would be to seek an explanation from the black market.

With these thoughts, his blade whirred rapidly.

The ”Plum Blossom Saber Technique,” also known as the ”Ding Family Saber Technique,” was a Dark Force martial arts inherited from the Ding Family’s Castle, and it was a very strong Cultivation Technique.

Now that he exhibited it, it possessed a certain awe-inspiring presence.

At this time, Chen Jie saw that the bamboo pole had been shortened, but he didn’t mind. The alley was too narrow; a shorter spear was more manageable, and he also wanted to bring the fight to a swift conclusion.

Therefore, Chen Jie began to wield his own Spear Technique.

Holding a spear, the bamboo pole became like a long spear in his hand.

Seeing Chen Jie’s rising momentum, the assassin was shocked. Indeed, worthy of being the person whom Peng Shizhong valued. Such spear technique was truly terrifying. He must not let Chen Jie continue gathering strength; he needed to attack first. Thinking this, the assassin charged forward.

At that moment, the assassin lunged forward, his waist knife aiming a ”Plum Slash” at Chen Jie.

The blade drew a path through the air, the knife light flickered, resembling a blooming plum blossom—indeed a good saber technique.

Chen Jie reacted by kicking the spear in his hand, and in the next moment gripped the spear with one hand, and thrust out. The assassin ducked, surprisingly avoiding the thrust.

But Chen Jie did not panic.

Although both were experts in the Liu Jin Realm, Chen Jie’s strength was likely above that of the assassin. The assassin had only one Dark Force saber technique, while Chen Jie was wielding the ”Thirteen Breaking Tribulation Strokes,” a technique beyond the Energy Transformation.

The first stroke!

”Bone-Deep Longing—Yearning!” Swish, the long spear thrust directly at the assassin, the thrust swift and fierce, twisting and turning. The assassin was alarmed and hastily swung his long knife.

Ordinarily, Chen Jie’s thrust would have killed him.

But Chen Jie held not a spear but a bamboo pole, and a pole couldn’t compare to a spear. So although the assassin couldn’t dodge this thrust, he used the sharpness of his long knife to chop off another section of Chen Jie’s bamboo pole.
