A-List Actress: Paper Marriage but Pampering Billionaire

Chapter 1450: Chapter 1440: Strange

In the evening, after catching some wind and the day’s events being too overwhelming for her, Mu Yan felt a headache and asked Kong Lizhen to leave first.

Kong Lizhen saw that she looked very tired and didn’t stay long, shutting the door as she left.

As she just stepped out of the room, she saw Jiang Jingheng standing not far away, watching her.

Her expression instantly hardened as she walked quickly over and asked, ”What exactly did you do to make Yanyan so upset?”

Jiang Jingheng lowered his eyelids and said softly, ”Please take care of her.”

”Do you even need to say that?” Kong Lizhen replied irritably, ”Can’t you just be honest? Just one good day and you have to stir up all kinds of mess to upset her?”

Jiang Jingheng didn’t retort, letting Kong Lizhen speak.

Kong Lizhen was somewhat annoyed by his aggrieved look, as if he had suffered some great injustice.

She said grumpily, ”Alright, she’s not asleep yet, go in and apologize properly, say some nice things.”

Although she wasn’t particularly fond of this son-in-law, there was nothing she could do, since her daughter liked him.

Jiang Jingheng stood there without moving.

Kong Lizhen asked, ”Do you have anything else to say to me?”

”Mom, I’m not going in.”

”What did you say?” Kong Lizhen looked at him somewhat incredulously.

”Thank you,” Jiang Jingheng nodded to her and turned to leave.

”Hey...” Kong Lizhen watched his back, prepared to call after him, but suddenly held her voice.

What’s going on with this kid? He seems really worried about Yanyan, yet he’s unwilling to explain to her.

Thinking of Mu Yan’s strange words tonight, she ultimately gave up.

If it was a matter related to both their feelings, then she had no reason to get involved.

Kong Lizhen stood there for a while before returning to her room. Not long after she left, the door to the room behind opened and quickly closed again.

The next morning, early, Kong Lizhen went to Mu Yan’s room.

She was afraid Mu Yan might secretly be upset and crying due to the argument with Jiang Jingheng. But when the door opened, she saw a refreshed Mu Yan.

”Good morning, godmother,” Mu Yan greeted Kong Lizhen with a smile.

”Morning,” Kong Lizhen looked her up and down and noted she seemed in good spirits.

”Did you come to invite me out shopping?” Mu Yan asked.

”Uh, yes, first have breakfast, then let’s go out for a stroll,” Kong Lizhen smiled.

Mu Yan stepped aside to let her in.

As Kong Lizhen entered the room, she saw the window wide open, the bed neatly tidied, ready to face the day.

So proactive, could she have been too stimulated last night?

Just then, Mu Yan’s phone rang.

She walked to the bed, picked up the phone, and said, ”Brother, what’s up?”

”It’s just like that between him and me. You don’t need to interfere, and don’t go to his company causing trouble again, it’s embarrassing.”

”Alright, alright, you’re not embarrassed, I am. Just don’t worry about it. When I get the chance, I’ll return to Beijing and personally explain to uncle and aunt.”

Mu Yan hung up the phone, letting out a sigh of relief.

Suddenly, Kong Lizhen’s voice rang out, ”Are you going back to Beijing?”

Mu Yan looked at her and said, ”I was just misleading my older cousin. This morning the media reported again on the turmoil in my marriage with Jiang Jingheng, he saw the news and came to ask me.”

This morning’s entertainment headlines were indeed occupied by Mu Yan and Jiang Jingheng. Last night’s footage of their argument was captured by paparazzi, posted online, and is now considered definitive evidence of their marriage breakdown.

Seeing Mu Yan act as if it was of no concern to her, Kong Lizhen asked tentatively, ”What’s really going on between you two?”
